Prince Uther is coming next. Won't buy that one either. Would like them but not at that price. Enough other models on the wishlist and an excellent FLGS close by. No hard pass...

@Beefcake; I don't have the patience for computer gaming these days. Even my all time favorite Heroes of Might and Magic III won't get played anymore. Old age perhaps?  o_o

Originally it was before - add 1 of each. This time I added as many as I wanted. I didn’t buy any. You’re right, the price is insane.

It might be that the pre-order period's about to end on August 3, so they probably lifted the restriction - I think some other companies did during an initial period. :-I

The prices are insane, but eBay's no better for this OOP stuff, but at least there's some decent customer service in contrast with some British seller acting like Dell Trotter over GSP. ::)

I think I have one Dragon trooper that came in a mixed blister pack, that I acquired during the Great Lead Sale in the mid 90s - either the Plaza or Kingston store. Will try to get 19 of the Dwarfs and if I'm still alive in the next 5 years, will look around for 20 more - maybe FB trading groups.

Doesn't look like there's limitation on ordering multiples of the same pack, unlike with the regular pre-orders.

Just realized Massachusetts has a sales tax free weekend on August 10 and 11 and the cut-off point for purchasing the MTO stuff is August 12. If I purchase 3 warrior packs and one command on either day, I'll be saving ~$12.69 off the purchase.

Nice. Discount's a discount, no matter where or how it comes. :) These Old World MTOs are ridiculously pricey but even extra rough for you living in the US. I was cautiously interested in Borri and the main man Ulther himself, but luckily rummaging through the old leadpile I found out I had them already! Wasn't sure if I had sold or traded them some years ago. Did also find a good few other miniatures I had been thinking of buying...

Nice re-discovery! Didn't bother ordering these from the Red Catalogue at the time, but being a teenager in the 90s, didn't expect figure ranges to go OOP. The Elven Attack Chariot no longer being in production, despite being in the same catalogue, should've given me a clue. I'm positive I have the standard bearer and one trooper that came in a mixed blister pack that I got during the Great Lead Sale in the mid 90s, so can field an even 20 instead of the 19 - 4 figure command and 5 figure trooper packs.

Funny or sad, I mentioned the Massachusetts sales tax free weekend on the Facebook group, Warhammer: The Old World, and the original post was deleted and after I asked about why it was deleted, I'm getting laughed at by Brits and other Euros - envy or just being jerks?

Yeah, definitely happy I found them now and not after possibly ordering them! Though I don't think I could have justified the price tag for just two miniatures.

I only got into warhammer in '00 and unfortunately missed a lot of the cool stuff. Not that 6th edition fantasy miniatures were bad by any means, but at this point GW were already moving towards plastics and in general to less poses and more uniform look for their miniatures; just look how much more variation you got with dwarf thunderers from previous editions.
Since I was very late to the party considering oldhammer, I think my biggest hobby regret is that I didn't spend more money on ebay buying old miniatures when you could actually find a bargain there. Prices people are asking have gone beyond ridiculous the past 10 or so years.

The latter, I'm afraid. Even if it's just for one state it can be useful info to someone. Personally I would appreciate any heads up that might save me money. The prices you are paying are already way more than what we here in Europe are charged, so they really are just being jerks for no reason.

That’s unfortunate. One of the many reasons I abhor “social media”. It’s just not social!

Nice discount found! Back when I would go to the U.S. I would often wait to make purchases in Washington or Oregon, Idaho as well, where it’s tax-free for Albertans or for all. It makes a difference. Especially since Canada pretty much pays the same as US, once the exchange is factored. All of GW for Canada comes from Memphis after all.

Nowadays, I usually order from a shop in Quebec or one outside Edmonton, both are smallish and unnoticed for new releases.

Still okay for bargains on new stuff, like sprues from a boxed set, but ten years ago, you could still find bargains on eBay, especially as AoS resulted in many rage dumping their figures. I think GW is basing their prices on eBay BiN auctions, while pretending to care about scalpers.

A Californian tells me how is this relevant to Old World. I point out that someone posted a link to Element Games saying they have Magic Lore cards in stock, but it's not useful for me, as I can't order GW product from the UK, due to the ban. To this guy, magic cards are more relevant, which even he can't get, than a sales tax holiday, since everyone in the UK benefits instead of a niche area.  ::)

It's not just social media, but rather the Games Workshop hobby encouraging toxic behavior.

All retail items for personal use / $2,500 (except vehicles, food, alcohol, gas, certain utilities, tobacco, marijuana)

I think Massachusetts is one of the few that offers an exemption for most retail purchases, while other states are rather specific, limiting it to clothing, electronics and etc.. - some to guns! I was going to make purchase anyway, through my local GW store, even without tax free weekend. It'll be over $100, so will qualify for a coin for once and a free monthly model, if available!

I haven't really bothered with ebay for many years now but take your word for it. I have fond memories of times when you would find people selling miniatures they didn't need or want for reasonable prices instead of trying to make a small fortune of them.
There were also plenty of people who either didn't have a clue of what they had or were just too lazy to sell them separately and ended up listing them as lots. Certain magic words could also be mixed and matched to summon up good deals: "warhammer, 80s, 90s, oop, metal, lead, lot". Of course it helped I wasn't too picky and had interest in multiple armies and games. :)

That's a bizarre way of looking at things on their end. One would imagine any and all discounts would be viewed as valuable by the community, if not to themselves then possibly to someone else. And I strongly suspect that german person must be trolling. Hard to imagine anyone calling a state "some kind of district".

It's not just social media, but rather the Games Workshop hobby encouraging toxic behavior.

Never been on any social media platform (unless forums can be called such) so can't say if GW fans are worse than others, but in general it seems like social media can really bring out the worst of us.

It’s been MANY years since eBay was a viable selling or buying source. Now, it’s 100% full of gougers and flippers. Literally the scummiest of the scummy!

I always used to put my lots up at 1c - yes! A penny! And then let the market dictate what they ended up at. Would I do that today? No. It’s all just priced at buy it now insanity prices. No more bidding.

I‘m really not a fan of MTO, but can understand that their ranges over the last decades have really got too big to have everything available at all times.
I have MTOed the Khemri Characters and later the stone trolls and besides the uncertainty about the delivery date (up to 6 months is ridiculous) everything went smoothly. The stuff arrived about 4-6 weeks after ordering. Price wise it’s typically challenging, but the casting quality was excellent and there was no risk like on eBay or so.

Cheers Thomas

Middle earth is getting a new edition and an updated arnor expansion with a raft of new miniatures - interestingly set many years before the events of the main story.

They've also teased some tie in with the new Amazon war of the rohirim series.
