The Carn Dum lands have a great 'chaos marauder' vibe... It's just a pity that it really doesn't with the LOTR aesthetic!

I also see GW are teasing the return of some of the older Warhammer plastic scenery - the fortified manor, Empire house, etc

With and without antlers, they look better than the Darkoath figures, but definitely more Warhammer than LotR aesthetics. I wonder how large these figures are, since the ranges have undergone size creep over the years.

On eBay, 9 Dragon Company figures for £109.99 + postage, more than what GW asking for in USD! In 2 days, the figures will go OOP again, but around £125, you can get a 14-17 figure unit of Dragon Company in 80s metal.

The Shadow of Rhudaur looks very nice but price will probably be anything but and I'll likely give it a pass. Other than that none of the new figures strike me as that interesting sculpts. Got to agree with others saying Carn Dum men have more of an AoS or WFB vibe than I would have expected from them.

I wonder how large these figures are, since the ranges have undergone size creep over the years.
I've also heard of scale creep LotR minis have gone through over the years but they're probably still on the smaller/ slender side compared to heroic 28mm. Anyone with actual knowledge on this rather than my guesses? ???

Middle earth is getting a new edition and an updated arnor expansion with a raft of new miniatures - interestingly set many years before the events of the main story.

They've also teased some tie in with the new Amazon war of the rohirim series.

Didn’t realize that was Amazon. Hopefully it’s much better than Teh Rings of Powah! which was completely awful.

 :o :o :o

Got an email from GW saying 5 pack Dragon Company order, placed on Saturday August 10, are on the way! Still waiting for the Marauder Giant from May 10 and it's 180 not 90 days to fulfill an order.

According to the GW store guy, if the order is placed in store, there's no pack limitation: a location purchase verifies you're not a scalper. Doesn't make much sense, since it's one employee per store, a friend or two could easily order multiples for scalping later.

Skaven refresh keeps on going (old news by now I guess but here we go anyways) https://www.warhammer-community.com/2024/08/10/the-slaughter-at-hel-crown-global-campaign-the-winner-revealed/

Undoubtedly well sculpted but... I might be the odd one here as I like the look of old skaven better, even the plastic ones from early 00s.
And those humongous centerpiece minis like Vizzik I hate with a passion. :D

Haha, can't unsee the likeness now! Ming's distant relative, perhaps? To my eyes the rat seemed overweight, balding and having a tramp beard. Not sure what is going on with all the gaps in his cape? Are they intended to be there? Especially where the cape covers lackeys it looks like parts were not perfectly matching but similar thing seems to be going on cape's back as well?

It’s definitely odd!

I quite like the fat bearded chap in the red armour. He could do with less extravagant weapon, though, but conversion would be rendered a bit tricky by the scabbard bearer (in itself a nice touch).

The big goat-rat thing isn't my cup of tea at all, though: I can't imagine he'd be much fun to paint, and he looks way too big to work in most skirmish games.

If so, we're in the odd club together. It's like comparing an oil painting to AI - I see no character or soul to it, it just looks like a tickbox of bland excess. Less is so often more.

+1 to the Odd old club, there are some ok ideas there, but I will stick to the old ones thanks.

Exactly, they are technically great but, no.

To me, it looks like the sculptor was going for the "cobbled-together-from scraps" look that was popular with the "evil armies" back in the day, e.g. Heinrich Kemmler, but it looks as if they forgot the stitching holding the parts together.

Bit of a pity, that. Always thinking about doing some more fantasy stuff in my old age, but then I see the minis they put out and I go 'meh'.
