Yeah when I worked in Smith's we had to do that with the first one - imperium. It was kept under the counter and limited to one copy per person because people were either stealing it or trying to buy the whole stock to put on eBay. I will say that whilst I did pick up and issue and the minis are great, the value compared to the first issue of imperium and mortal realms is a bit lower as both of those came with whole units for both factions. Still, I'm not going to sniff at £2.99 for two nice character figures.
Just picked up issue 2 of Combat Patrol in WH Smith this morning. £6.99 for 3 Von Ryan's Leapers. At least one copy had a security tag on it. The assistant said that someone had walked out with an entire box of issue 1s without being spotted. If they have tags on them then they're covered by insurance. We live in a strange world
So bizarre. I guess people will steal anything if it’s not bolted down…
Warhammer has joined lego as a tradable untraceable currency for illicit activates. It doesn't lose value (and just like lego it will generally increase in value if you keep it stashed away for a bit) so it's now a high theft item. in 6 months time hundreds of issue 1 will be on ebay for £9.99.
I guess there are harder ways of laundering money … again, bizarre. EBay is definitely a floodway of money laundering, so whatever makes small amounts of money quickly works.
Absolutely. Steal £100 of Warhammer from your local toy shop, then flog it on eBay the same evening at half the retail price. It'll be sold by the next morning.
