Industrial/Blakes 7TV Terrain (Pic heavy)
« on: September 12, 2013, 06:17:58 PM »
A while ago Karl at Crooked Dice asked if I was interested in building some terrain for him, suitable for a B7 or Industrial setting.
The layout was to be modular, generally 2 storeys high and with walkways.

The brief gave me a lot of freedom as to the exact design.  I decided that having it fit in with the Ainsty Pipework range would make it even more adaptable.  The 'modules' are based on 5cm increments and are nominally 10cm high.  The base was of foam PVC, then a central 'box' of foamcore.  On to this I attached pipework, boxes, cables etc using a wide range of components: Urban War refinery & platformer bits. plain & embossed plastic card, lots of odds'n'ends from the bits box:

I made 2 test modules to start, just to check Karl was happy with the general design:

Module 1:

Module 2:

Module 2 & Ainsty Pipework:

Modules 1 & 2:

The walkway design was the biggest issue.  My original idea using bespoke laser-cut grating was too fragile.  A fair bit of hit & miss occurred until I sorted it out.

Fear not, we're not casting this up, it's a scratchbuild for games and photo purposes :) and it's quite beautiful! Thanks again Paul!
