Shaping up to be a pretty big force there. But they need some more Tentacle Brains with guns/death rays.  ;)

Fantastic work as always Paul and nice to see our runts in action too :)

For those of you wanting more tech options we intend to add some more tentacles with tech options in the near future.

Not quite sure yet what we will do or when but it will probably be in the form of packs of additional tentacles which you can use to adapt our figures or other manufacturers figures.

The Chovar is terrific. I always thought he was inspired by Mass Effect's Hanar:

Your paint scheme works really well on the miniature.

I know I'm late to the party, but the "floating brains with guns" aliens are some of my favorite of all time.

Thanks for the feedback guys.  This project is proving to be a lot of fun.

Shaping up to be a pretty big force there. But they need some more Tentacle Brains with guns/death rays.  ;)

I have some plans to add some more.  I want to add some Ramshackle "Tentacle Brains" as grunts, but I dont really want to double up on miniatures too often.  I think that I might get another set and convert their weaponry into something even bigger.  Well see how it goes.

The Chovar is terrific. I always thought he was inspired by Mass Effect's Hanar

I never got into ME (I find long, in depth games like that frustrate me and distract me from the lead mountain) but I have numerous buddies who tried to convince me to play it many times.  I didnt know that they had a creature that looks like the Chovar.  That almost certainly must be the inspiration for the Mantic model.  Interestingly, my scheme isnt that far removed from the Hanar one.

Good to know :)

You and me both.  They are as classic as "little green men" and "anal probes"  lol

I have about eighty of those guys that I painted in 98-2001 or so, but I never got around to taking photos of them.  Some day perhaps.

Yeah, I pledged on the Counterblast Kickstarter but eventually pulled it.  I couldnt find a cost effective way to get in without ending up paying for the printed rulebook which in all likelihood I would never have used.  I am keeping an eye out for a way to pick up the Edolfeini at some point, when West Wind get their hands on them I guess.

The Edolfeini would fit in, but at this stage I do think that may be surplus to requirements.  Im after things ike artillery and walkers or other different bits now, rather than more regular brains.  If I saw a box of Edolfeini on a shop shelf I would probably buy it though.

Damn, loved looking through this log - everything about this army is great! It's so fun and characterfull. Also nice to see "proper" alien looking aliens and not your run of the mill boring old Bipeds and Bugs.

Seventeen months later Im back working on these guys.

A discussion with a couple of buddies led to the idea of adding some human thralls to the force, brainwashed victims of the terrifying evil mind control powers of the Tenebrainian Cerebalite Enslavers.  CP Models made Alien Minion models that were perfect for that b-movie, body-snatchers sort of atmosphere, so I painted six of those, plus another Cerebalite Minion model and a swarm of models that looks a lot like the head pieces scuttling around like giant ticks.

Then a few weeks ago a group that I am part of suggested a project where everyone converted an "Aenur - The Sword of Twilight" Mordheim miniature that was included with White Dwarf back in 1999, seeing as we had access to a few of them.

For my version I added a suitable Thrall Tick head, replaced the sword with a spare tentacle from one of the floating brains and added some putty legs to some spare heads from the Alien Minions to the base, to represent more Thrall Ticks.  Part way through the process someone told me that the model had a vague anime/manga/sentai look, so I added a Scarf of Asskicking (thats a thing, just ask TV Tropes) to make the guy resonate a bit more like this sort of affair.

...and probably a bit like this too if I am honest...

...so I ended up with this.  It was a bit rushed to be honest, but the daft looking thing is good enough all the same :)

So the whole lot of the force, with and without their Thinktank support vehicle look like this...

...and this...

The blog post about the Thralls is here for anyone interested in any further info and photos.

Thanks for looking!

But the scarf is not flowing! That's definitely not asskicking! lol
Though the rest of the mini indeed is. :D Great work there!
