I just finished the next addition to my "Tenebrainian" forces.  Its a "Cerebalite Specialist" from CP Models.

Another fun and bizarre redshadows sculpt that I really enjoyed painting  :D

More details on my blog.  Constructive feedback welcomed as ever.

How did I not notice this earlier?

Stunning work all round.
That really is a superbly assembled and beautifully painted truly weird force.

Seriously nice painting!!!

I like what you did with the alien tank too. I painted a few of those once! I really like them.

Very nice Paul - if one can say that about a tentacled floating brain with a beak.

The beholder works much better as a mutant brute floater so good call on making this guy the leader.

I'd missed this thread.  Great stuff!  The way you have used a distinctive and vibrant paint scheme to unify a group of disparate models is exemplary.

Those beaky brains are fantastic. Excellent color choice and execution!

Heh, thanks, I think ;)

As long as I am consistently making progress on my projects then checking out everyone elses is great fun.  If I am going through a creative slump then watching other people making progress makes me frustrated and distracted.

Im in the productive phase currently Im glad to say :)

very,very nice  :-* :-*

Thank you Dr. F.

That really is a superbly assembled and beautifully painted truly weird force.

Thanks Mason, weird but pop culturally familiar was what I wanted.  The gaming scene needs more 1950s alien types in my opinion, so its brains with rayguns for me for a while.

I like what you did with the alien tank too. I painted a few of those once! I really like them.

I looked for an excuse to get one of those tanks for years, but could never quite shoehorn one into a project until now.  They are fun models and more or less unique to my knowledge.

Very nice Paul - if one can say that about a tentacled floating brain with a beak.

Its all about context.  On a gaming table then the answer is "yes".  Floating into your bedroom at 4am its a "no".

The beholder works much better as a mutant brute floater so good call on making this guy the leader.

Agreed.  I like that model, but it was a stop-gap as the leader really.  As is the Specialist in some respects.

I'd missed this thread.  Great stuff!  The way you have used a distinctive and vibrant paint scheme to unify a group of disparate models is exemplary.

Thanks Steve.  Minor differences between the similar miniatures made by manufacturer A and manufacturer B dont concern me in the slightest.  A consistent colour scheme ties all sorts of things together.

Those beaky brains are fantastic. Excellent color choice and execution!

Thanks Malebolgia.  The beaks do add an extra layer of creepy for some reason.

Excellent painting and colour choices on these brains!  :-*

Im glad that you like them Nimrod.  Thanks.

Its a Deadzone Chovar up next I think, in a couple of days with a bit of luck.

Fantastic Painting as always you are the floating brain painting guru  :)

Many thanks for painting him up and promoting him here

Hopefully should be looking at getting him on sale any day and we also have a Cerebalite hive queen which is going to see the light of day after being on the shelf for quite some time

All figures sculpted by George (Redshadows) and I hope you like them

Thanks. If only I was a guru on real life brain usage ;)

There is no denying the freaky fellas suitability for this project.  He fits in well I think :)

Speaking of cross miniature range compatibility, the next model finished for the these guys is a Chovar from Mantics Deadzone game.

As soon as this model was announced for release, I knew that it would end up here with these guys.  The painting on the tentacles is a little scruffier that I would like to be honest, but its good enough all the same.

The models aesthetic is a little different from most of the rest of the brains - its more jellyfish like than the others.  The shell piece on the top made me associate it visually with the Medusharks that I have been using in a sort of hunting hound/drone capacity.  So I figure that the chovar is some sort of drone controller in this context.

I used to opportunity to take a photo of the whole lot so far together.  Im pleased to note that you dont very often see miniature military forces like this :)

After a suggestion from Phreedh, the next addition will likely be some human/humanoid thralls  o_o

Thanks for looking :)

The chovar looks great and I wouldn't have noticed the rougher tentacles if you hadn't mentioned it. It's probably the creepiest sculpt of the lot, something deeply unsettling about it.

Nice work. I didn't realise there were that many different "brain creatures" out there. Your paintjob certainly makes them look like a coherent force.
