Thanks !

I finished the red technical, except the weathering effects I'll add tonight.

Hopefully, the next vehicles will be faster to paint, since I did (more than once) a lot of testing on this first one.

Lovely work. The airbrushing has made a huge difference to your work.

Thank you, but still no airbrushing for now, I finally could not afford it. This model is brush painted  :)

I added slight weathering tonight, and varnish. My (arts ready to use liquid) acrylic varnish is matte, very matte...Maybe too much. On the bright large red parts of the car, under the modelling lamps we can barely see some white/grey brush strokes  :'(

It's not big deal, and probably not noticeable in normal lightning conditions, but next time I'll dilute it a bit. Tommorow I'll post daylight pics.

Thank you a lot !

Here's the final pics of the red technical, with the weathering. It's a slight weathering according my gaming mat, and according real pics I found. Except technicals where some mud is applied as a poorman camouflage, a lot of technicals are not particularly in bad shape/condition, at least it's not uncommon to see this kind of vehicles.

thank you !

I made a small pause into painting, to make a bit of scenery (since my taliban force is almost complete, and I've got a painted french platoon, I can already play!).

I created a quite generic setup, including small walls and hedges (as the ones we see in afghanistan green zone), 3 buildings (I'll add 2 new buildings, probably a small farm and sheperd cabin), and 2 fields (not of particular species, but wide enough to allow my 20minis to walk thru, and high enough to offer some light cover).

Here's some pics. Of course, it's a very early stage of modelling, I still have to engrave details on buildings, add some texture, and of course, some paint and flock. The goal is to match my 3'x3' gaming mat (see attached pic).

Keep at it.

If you haven't already done so, there's a lot of YouTube clips of French forces in Afghanistan you can watch. All of the nations' (I even found a few Danish ones!) troops have uploaded helmet camera footage which was key in me making sure I had the "look" right.

thanks for the comments !

I forgot to say that except the buildings, the other pieces will be done generic enough to fit other kinds of universes/periods, like WW2 for example.

As a solo gamer, I'm always searching to keep the storage, price and spent time low on scenery. Especially since my "big" project will be the Shadowrun urban scenery, where it will be a lot more difficult to save time and efforts.

Hi,

Following new rules,  I will not post modern figures or anything modern related after this post, so here's the last update for this topic, it's just about the scenery I finished, I wanted to finish this topic with something completed. I hope it will be OK with moderators.

The complete set of scenery :

The buildings them selves :

The big scenery (first pic quite accurate too concerning colors) :

A few action pictures :

Super scenery. Bags of character in those buildings. Superb plaiting as well.

Lovely, lovely stuff - really impresive.

I think you can continue this thread as you have, observing:

(Which means fans like Ash and I can continue getting this eye-candy.)

Cracking job SundayHero, I like the little rugs on the roof and the broken plaster/broken brickwork. It looks very natural mate.

Cheers
Matt.

I didn't know these new (new) rules. I'm happy the team (or admin) changed his/their mind. Personaly, I believe that any historical subject, modern (post ww2) historical even more, has to be spoken carefully :  after all, even some "old" 60's or 70's colonial wars wounds can be easily reopened if we doesn't take caution. I always try to be carefull myself, even if sometimes my rough english is a bit limited.

So if it's OK, I will continue to present my historical projects here ! That's great because LAF is really the number one thing wich caused my renewal in this hobby. I discovered new scales, brands, universes, and even websites and forums because of LAF's (and LAF members) open mind.

BAck on subject : the rugs took a lot more time that I expected, to be honest  lol A simple addition apparently, but a lot of (too much) work for the result !
