Gripping Beast Turks
« on: 08 June 2008, 04:27:58 PM »
these arrived in yesterdays post and despite walking the dogs, watching the Moto GP and falling asleep on the settee I have surprised myself by getting them done this afternoon. Pretty pleased with them as they only took 75 minutes.

Nice.

They seem to paint up well.  Having never bought from GB could I ask about quality/cleaness of castings, etc?

Oh, and that stuff on the base.  No More Nails?

they only took 75 minutes...

Damn you fast painters  >:(  It would take me that long to extract them from the blister - then twice as long to clean and prep...  lol lol lol

Hi!

Nice work on the Turk officers! 75 minutes - that is so quick! I've just finished painting the last of the GB Turkish officers that has taken me a little while - well more than a few cups of tea anyway!

Orctrader,

I've now nearly completed the last of the GB ANZAC officers in addition to the Turks. Overall, they are very neat figures with little to no flash, however there is a slight casting line that does require a little attention on some of the figures.

GB gets my thumbs-up for this range!  8)
Best wishes,
Helen

How do these figures cojpare with Cobblestone and Brigade Games Figures?  Can they be added to the ranks without anyone being able to pick them out.

Quite a few of my GB Turks had their bayonets broken off :(
Can't get them to stick back on either.

Have you spoken to GB about this problem?

I hope they can change their packaging to comply with fragile bayonets otherwise folks maybe shy in ordering due to this issue.  8)

There was very little flash on the ones I got - nothing a quick scrape didnt remove. Overall very good castings. A couple have small casting sprues to small parts like a pipe and pistol which are a little awkward to remove and I did manage to snap a pistol barrel which was a little tricky to repair. I wouldnt hesitate to recommend these though.

The stuff I use on my bases is ready mixed wall filler in a tub. Cheap brand (1/2 litre for £1.29) which will easily do a good few hundred bases. Polyfilla type stuff but not the "smooth" variety, this has a tile grout type texture to it (grout works as well)

Helen, I was looking at pics of the GB Anzac Infantry.  How do their bush hats look in the flesh as to speak?  The brims on the hats seem quite small in the pictures, almost a bowler hat look.  Not the broad brim look which the Brigade Games figures have got.  Would like to know your opinion before I invest.
Thanks
Paul

Hi Paul,

The ANZACs I've a from the command pack and the freebie!
The Aussie officer with cane and pipe is very Aussie with his slouch hat the right size. The freebie digger is quite "Kiwi" his slouch hat is much smaller. Until I see in the flesh the standard infantry I really can't comment, notwithstanding, they will certainly be an investment to have Kiwis in amongst my many Aussies.

When we have some sun I'll post the GB I've painted todate!  8)
