One Man Army
« on: June 18, 2008, 11:36:49 PM »
Hi,

inspired by this thread

http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=6253.0

 I build a new tankette  :D

It's nearly 4 cm tall. Some small details like handlebars for the door are still missing. Comments appreciated!

Looking good, you need a servant attached to the back peddling a penny farthing which is attached to the tracks. Or am I just cracking up? Looks quite cute, in a stange way.  :D

Cheers

As I said in the other thread: That's pretty cool.  How do you make the treads?

Sorta universal carrier meets turret.

Great idea!

Super scratch-building skills.

Thanks for the inspiration. :-*

Ok (here I go...).  I think the turret part looks great; but since the model is just 4cm high, the tracks are rather smallish in my opinion.

I would prefer to see tracks that are slightly larger and go higher up the sides of the turret (like the French WW1 FT17 tank), with a plateau in between where the (removable) turret fits in.  After all, the contraption in the thread that inspired you could be taken from its carriage to act as pillbox.  A small steam engine & smokestack might be fitted to the back of the plateau in between the lenghtened tracks.

Hi,

the treads are made of profiled evergreen plasticsheet bent arround some tubes.

No no, it's the Smytheson-Crapper Military Field Lavatory (Protected), better known as the Armoured John or the Steel Outhouse!  :D

What looks like a gunbarrel is actually the vent stack - putting it vertical made the Armoured John unable to go under railway bridges and the like, you know.
