or try these chaps from Aventine (ready to play.........euh sorry.... to be painted !)   ;D

yes, they belong ot my favorite Aventine sets. The guys are roaming around on my painting desk since months and I was thinking of painting them for LPL but then an elephant came by.

the painting desk is a place where some figurines are lost for several months (even years) and you don't know why.

Next up are the start of a new force on the streets of Rome. These will represent some of the troops used by Pompey to enforce order back on the streets of Rome. again Copplestone sculpts. I'm going to class the unarmoured legionaries as warriors and some armoured ones as bodyguards. I'll use a military tribune or a centurion as the gang leader. They are getting their own battle board I just need to try it out a bit more!

Yes very nice Mark!  I believe that the Urban cohorts used Montefortino helmets, too, even after they were long obsolete elsewhere.

They are amazing!  Puts me right off scratch-building that sort of thing, with the quality being so superior.  If you don't mind me asking, what's the damage on those?

There are two buildings in the picture. They are 24 euros each... So about 20 quid. The town houses are all the same with different fronts. The temple is very nice indeed. The villa looks great but is about 50 pieces so will take a bit more time!

Not too pricey, then, Mark!  What frontage are the shops, please?

BTW the Games of War roof for their pirate house is really excellent, and a snip at £4 post-free.  Really well cast... two of them, end-to-end, would make a great roof for a barracks or granary.  The small section would be good for a portico.

The town buildings are 155mm long by 80mm depth. They are 95mm - 110mm in height. They come in sides that stick together easil a bit like the current trend for MDF buildings. This means they are hollow and quite light, but need a bit of filler to clean up a few very thin gaps on the sides.
