Those would be relatively easy to scratchbuild... hmm. I should wander down to the local Michael's and check out their wooden shapes selection again... they've hopefully restocked since last time I ransacked them!

The designer appears to be Hugo Gernsback, of "Amazing Stories" and Hugo Award fame.

I can't understand what the hell he was thinking when he did the tear gas nozzle.

I guess we all learned something new about Hugo today...

Other than the obvious sexual innuendo,  ::) the gas jets do make some sense.  They appear to be at about eye level to the target so would be immediately effective on the first few rows of any mob.  (Dangerously so, maybe, because having gas directly enter the eyes under high pressure would probably result in some major damage.  In most cases, tear gas is seen rising upwards as a thin, relatively speaking, cloud, from a canister thrown, or fired, on the ground.)
