Africa corps (Oasis finished)
« on: 20 May 2014, 08:47:11 PM »
Not up to a lot of other members standards but I will apply the 2' rule and play with them anyway.
What do you think?
Should I add some green grass to the bases?

Not great photos I seem to have lost the knack as well as forgot how to paint.
This is the most figures I have painted this year, One section of ten guys, including the MG, and two guys with an anti-tank rifle.

They look fine from here!  White highlights on goggles work nicely.  Suggest you add a few grass tufts and/or tiny patches of green flock - not loads but enough to add some variety.

Well, sometimes its better to have them painted than endlessly sat on a fussy painting table, but these look good to me.  A bit of static grass on the base will give them a boost.  8)

I like them, especially the goggles, nothing wrong with them at all.

I like them Colin.
Mutineer sell 'desert tufts' which are kind of dark olive green scrub. Work very well on desert sandy bases  :)

Woooo ... check out the funky reflections on those goggles. Nice.

As for tufts, I've discovered a company called Tajima1, who do some very nice sets.

To be honest I wouldn't overdo it with the gras tufts. The bases look good barren.

As for standards... I'd play against your DAK any time of the week.

Why the modesty Colin?!

These look superb! Especially when they'll be joined by 20 or so rat friends.  :D

Only 'aber dabei' I can think of would be that you should add a black line for the eyes. Not painting them, just a black line (Captain Blood style) - it really makes them come to life for a very little investment.

Great Colin! I've got desert-y grass tufts if you want some?
