Lovely work mate  :)

Lights?

Thanks.  :D

No.  I've ummed and ahhed about it but I finally thought no, I just don't want to change batteries and fit on/off switches in hidden but easily accessible locations.  I'd rather just have fun making models.

It looks great Kev - very intricate (though being SW-knowledge-deficient I have no idea what it is you are replicating).  8)

Ta Steve!

Here's the start of the next ship from the Storringteen Shipyards done over a few evenings so far.

I started with a basic spine and added a few ribs to block out some of the shape.

Here's some of the ribs getting filled out a bit, bringing in the shape some more.

A lot more blocking in to fill the gaps, working out where some of the more interesting details can go.

Roughing out the engines.

I've got a few bits all ready to go but I still have a lot more work to do on the basic body before I can indulge in all the fun gribbly bits.  :D

Is the shuttle bay not part of the death star????
I though in this scale it would still be 2.5 m diameter????

The shuttle bay was, as they say, a red herring and will fit into the port side of the ship, TIE launch racks are on the starboard side.

Also, the first Death Star would be 120 meters across, so no.  :P

Strike class Cruiser  :D

Like it  :D

Yes, I thought you might!  :D

Loronar did build the Strike class, but to Imperial spec, so things like shuttle bays and such would be standardised but propulsion and bridges, sensor domes, etc, would be different from Kuat designs.

Brilliant, Kev!
 8) 8)

I see you cannot resist making BIGGER ships, though.
Careful, or you will tempted to make one in 28mm scale soon
 ;D ;D

Thanks Paul. :D  I'd dearly love to make one in 28mm scale but I'd have to have a really, really, good reason to as I don't have enough room for something I can't use.  It'd be fun just isn't enough when space and costs are at a premium.  :?

Right, here's the next bit of an update.

I've skinned most of the superstructure, tinkered with some engines but not applied them yet, and worked out some of the detail.

Here's the ship with most of the skin applied and the TIE quick launch rails.  If anyone is interested, the ribs and shape have been 1mm sheet styrene and the skin is 0.5mm styrene.

Here's the docking bay on the port side.

Close up of the TIE launch rails and a flight of TIE's ready to launch.
