It has been a bit since I've built terrain.
However,  I recently bought 50+ pounds of Robotix toys off Craigslist and I've been working on some terrain for a friend.

First two pics showing Robotix parts assembled (some cutting required) with bingo chips, pathology specimen case lids, Leftover game tokens, and various other bits.

Last pic shows complete after few layers of spray paint and a single drybrush.  Very good chance I'll be building similar versions for myself.  Really happy with the results here and it was an extremely fast project.

Very nice parts to play around with!

And (near) instant results too; the end results look really good as small terrain pieces! 8)
Miniatures you say? Well I too, like to live dangerously...

Thanks!
They're bigger than they seem, but I am probably going to build some bigger pieces for myself.

I should do a comparison shots between these and the standard 40k modular chemical tank.

yeah very nice Eilif. I like how you can stack those two upright pieces and the one you've cut in half make very convincing power generators.

Like you I am a big fan of the spray can :)

Thanks folks.
I'm pleased with the look.

The cylinders come in halves so I only have to cut the end/wheel pieces.  Power generators is kind of what I was thinking to. Kind of Star Wars-ey.

As for spray cans. I find i can do almost all my urban/industrial terrain painting with spray cans and paint markers. I just break out the brushes for the final drybrush.  These didn't even get any washes!

They look like very useful bits of kit to play around with.
Nice end results.

'Specimen Container Lids...'

Eeeeeeeeew!

I'm always trying to hunt down something that works for little bits of flooring like that.  Tried aquarium filters, but didn't really like them.  3d printing annoyed me more than aided me.  Good find.

If you're in the states I might be able to help you out with some.  PM if interested.

Here's a comparison shot with the two sizes of 40k storage tank.

I find the 40k tanks too detailed for my tastes. Much prefer your take on it Eilif :)

Thanks and I agree.  The Robotix level of detail is a nice compromise between the simple vintage Necromunda aesthetic and the uber detailed current style.

They are quite nice, but I've never heard of Robotix before. Is it just a US thing, or am I just very out of touch? Been looking on ebay and everything seems to be from the US at least.

Sorry about the late reply.   I think Robotix was mostly sold in the US and Japan.  The Japanese version might have had a different name as well.

We had been dabbling in K47 but took a bit of a detour last game night to play smaller scale games Two fellows did Full Thrust and my opponent and I played Alpha Strike.  Most club members have big 10mm sci-fi armies built back when you could buy Mechwarrior Dark Age clix by the bucket for pennies.

We played 350 points per side, all mechs, Liao vs Wolf Hunters.  We played on Dropzone commander card terrain and my opponent brought the MWDA drop ship!   We only got through 3 turns in a couple hours as it had been so long since we played that we were basically learning from scratch.  By the end of turn 3 things had tilted in Liao favor and they were declared the winners.   I think the game will play much faster as we are getting more comfortable with the rules.

The club members are looking forward to playing more Alpha Strike in the coming months.  Maybe I'll even get around to building up the various N scale structure Kits I've been hoarding.

I definitely enjoyed the rules and am looking forward to digging deeper into them and playing  bigger games.  We played all mechs, but we've all got infantry, vehicles, flyers, etc in our collections.
