Two Games of Nuclear Renaissance
« on: October 01, 2014, 01:03:17 AM »
The club got together at my place last week and we played two of the scenarios from the Nuclear Renaissance rulebook. We're still learning the rules so there were some hicups, but I think it was a successful outing.  It's only my third game, but I'm really enjoying the gonzo flavor and easy play of the NucRen rules.  I feel like we're just scratching the surface of what's possible.  Anywho, on to the games!

One one table a dense urban layout was setup as three gangs tried to snag as many as they could of 8 different objectives. We made the objectives members of an exploration group sent from one of the "Bridge Cities" into the wasteland.  The gangs knew that "Bridgers" are always worth a grand in ransom.
As a result of us 3 newbies running 1000 points per side (the recommendation is 600) for a 3 player game, we were only able to play out 3 turns, but it was alot of fun.  Full batrep, background and lots of pics here:

Adjacent to this was "Leggy O Lee's Watering Hole".  One gang attempting to hold off another from taking over "security" for the watering hole (the large bunker-ish construction in the middle of the settlement).  Of special note on this table were the two recenlty completed warbands who made their debut in this game.  I always love to see what kind of post-apocalpytic miscreants members will show up with and I was not let down. A clan of hardy but drunken farmhands (Wreck Age Stakers) were "protecting" the bar from an eclectic group of marauders known as the Slagscape Conservation Collective and their new ride.
AAR and even more pictures here:

Looks excellent, wonderful terrain and really nicely painted figures.
Where are the figures in the second to last photo from?
Cheers

Thanks!
As for the figs, they're not my warband, but I can identify most of them.

-The Gorilla is Ape X (Reaper, available in bones and metal)
-The Armadillo is "Skraw the Last Armadillo" (Reaper, metal)
-All but one of the gangers are Grenadier Future Wars from the Scavenger and Savage lines (available from EM4, Forlorn Hope and Merliton).
-The car is a cheap 1/43 die cast Corvette, possibly from Yat Ming.
-The only one I'm not sure of is the ganger with the long gun. Maybe from Warmachine or VOR?

I think Scurv is asking about Josh's minis, which are all Steakers from Wreck-Age.

Oops, I missed the "Second to" part.  They are indeed all Stakers accompanied by two 1/43 scale vehicles. The ambulance is:
Kinsmart - Rescue Team Ambulances (5" diecast model car, White) 5259DW
You can commonly find it at drug stores (I've seen it at Walgreens) and such.

The pickup is an old navy promotional, but very similar, if not the same as:
Yatming Road Signature - GMC Pickup Truck (1950, 1/43 scale diecast model car, Burgundy) 94255
I found the "Road Signature" version at Menards around Christmas time.

Both are fairly common online as well and typically sell for about $6-8.
