Nicely done. He does bear a resemblance to James Mason too. I also like the detail on the base as well. :)

This is my first painted "Parroom" figure.  Slightly shorter than other 28mm.  I love the book, and like the James Mason movie.  It is a very well sculpted face.

Actually, I've found the Parroom personalities have a good deal of character and paint up quite well.

Excellent paint job but Im surprised you didnt paint the metal on the base bronze!

Speaking of the metal - did you use some kind of plasticard with the muster stamped/cast on it (I know such a thing exists), or are the little ridges just painted on?

Yes.  A Railway modelling section in my local Toy Shop stocks A4 sheets of various designs.  I use them a lot.
