They look great as individual stands, but look really impressive en mass!  Can't wait to see pictures of the game.

So after a bit of a distance between posts.

I have finished my 8th unit of Hoplites but decided that 3 ranks looks better than 2 so im now in the progress of going back and adding in the now in the progress of adding a 3rd rank to existing units.  So yeah ... more work but I really do think it looks better.

I have also looked at how I can arrange the bases for making a larger units and the last few pictures show that.

You are spot on to go with the extra rank, the added visual appeal is more than worth the extra work.

do you think you might be adding any Ekdromoi or Thureophoroi to your may band of heroes?

I do plan to have some Ekdromoi as that is relevant to the period im working on (394BC)  Thureophoroi are a bit late. However I will make up some Peltast as well as Ekdromoi in the coming months.

Terrific painting and basing, as usual! The third rank does add a lot of 'depth' to the unit.

Thanks all , and Scott I agree -  the one thing with 2 ranks is that it does not convey a mass of troops as much as 3 or 4 ranks does- It also allows me to do a few interesting things such this little scene im doing for the next unit.



So its extra work and I am not increasing the unit count but I am allot happier with the look
