I must admit that I don't think it works that well for the ghosts. :? :-X

The explosion is al right but the wee guys popping out look a bit wanting.   :)

Is that whats not working? I can't figure it out what I don't like about it!  :?

How would you fix it?

That's the proton rays finished now as well. I'm not getting the light tonight, but I'll try and get some comprehensive shots of the board later.

It's a great idea, but I noticed two aspects which "irk" me a bit.

First, the spirits/spectres/ethereal wotsits appear a bit too "solid". You might try lightening up their blue areas with some stippling, to make them appear more "cloudy" or "vapoury" (bit of a Baldrick-y, linguistically-challenged moment here, but I hope you catch my drift). The other option might have been to make some casts of those in clear resin, then tint it using various turquoise and blues.

Second, I think the explosion itself could have benefitted by using "deepened" rather than "darkened" colour tones on the top areas. That is to say, it appears to me you used a dark grey or black for the tops? Various blue hues of increasingly deeper shades (e.g. start with a light turquoise, then add increasing amounts of ultramarine and Prussian blue, maybe some midnight blue tones as a finish. My impression is that the dark areas swallow too much light and leave it dull rather than earily-glowing.

Apart from that, magnificent work all round, and those proton ray markers are genius. I'll probably shamelessly steal... erm, adapt that idea for my Daleks.

The reactor explosion looks good as is, but the thick proton beams look a bit curvier and need thin streamers of jagged blue lightening around them if you're going for the classic style.

Still hate you though!   :P

Thanks for the feedback Chris!

I think it's something I need to look into. Casting that is. That probably would've been the perfect way to do it. I'm not sure the stippling would have made too much of a difference.  I think we just expect ghosts to be see-through!

I think the thing with the explosuon itself may be more to do with the clump I used! It doesn't look like smoke.  It's not dynamic enough and isn't the shape I think you'd get! :?

That queue is getting bigger!!  :o

Yeah, I think for anybody else trying this, smaller filaments would make it more realistic! It's going to be a demo table though so it might be a tad too fragile mate?

Thanks guys for all your help and input on this, but that's me now finished this wee project.

Here's a bunch of final pics trying to show all the various bits and bobs....

Again thanks for ALL the support!!!
