Hey, thanks - bookmarked for future reference. I might try it out if I can lay my hands on the right stuff here in Malta; either this, or try something I have not yet attempted - ordering liquids from abroad....

Thanks!  They came out pretty well for a speed-paint job.
As for getting Minwax or Army painter (I prefer minwax) check your local hardware store and see if they have a polyurethane based stain product. Army painter and Minwax are just stain+Poly products, and maybe there's something similar available near you.  Alternatively you can make your own if you have access to something like "future" floor polish (basically thin liquid polyurethane) which you can mix with paint or ink to get a similar product.

I have jumped the gun and started assembling the models for the force in the lead - assuming it doesn't change by year's end!

It's over, and the Tyranids (which will include a GS cult) win.
Better get busy.
It's actually the smallest of the 3 forces I included in the poll, with just 1 Tyrant, a GS Primarch, some Lictors, 3 Carnifeces, 6 warriors, a few swarms, 6-8 flying thingies the name of which I forgot, a zoanthrope (when they still had legs), a small assortment of cultists, around 30 genestealers, 4 hormagaunts(!), a Sentinel and 2 spore chimneys from Forgeworld. 
Add a Sentinel, and maybe the Stormblade if I go that way....
