Got talked into Frostgrave by a friend down at the club, so I am giving the game a try. So far we have played a single game, and I have painted up my starting warband. I have additional miniatures and some undead creatures left to be built/painted. I will post my first impressions of the game in my next Frostgrave related post on my blog, suffice to say that I was not entirely enthusiastic about the game but am slightly optimistic after our first fight down at the club. Though there are a bunch of things that I fear may have a negative impact on replayability/long term fun - such as heavy focus on hauling treasures off the table in each scenario and long term balance issues between successful and unsuccessful/unlucky warbands to mention a few.
The main strength of the game is so far the magic, which is open ended enough to allow your wizard class to explore various options beyond his school of magic. I will write more about the later as I told Fredric that we need to play a bunch of games before I can pass judgment on the campaign system.
My warband so far is made up of a :
Wizard & Apprentice (Witch school of magic - which in Frostgrave seems to lean towards Druid type powers)
1 Thief
1 Crossbowman
1 Archer
2 Men at Arms
2 Infantrymen
