"The Maines were maybe a bit over-powered.  I think in the next game I will take away the rule that they can ignore wounds that don't kill a model and have those wounds stay in place.  I think I will also boost the size of the Ork infantry units to 15 stands per mob."

Don't know about the Maines, but the Marines really done me in.  lol

Actually, I wouldn't go to(o) quickly making that first change; it was very Emperor's finest. Bump up the ork numbers a bit, but if I ever actually use tactics, being sure to try and concentrate on smaller groups of the hoomies might be sufficient to turn the day. A wasted 'wound' out of every three or five is frustrating.

A wasted wound out of 21 is just amusing.  ;)

Of course, the same can be said for the fact that the Marines were fully deployed while the Orks had reinforcements. I know it's a magic term, but does mean force concentration is even tricker, especially with random, on-edge placement.

I've finished my February goal a bit ahead of schedule.

2nd Windrider Host

2nd Guardian Detachment

Bright Lance Battery

The army so far

This is a good solid core and comes out to 2,600 points using the NetEpic Gold point costs.  When I come back to this army, I will be adding aspect warriors and more grav tanks.

More pics and details can be found on my blog.  http://gamingandshooting.blogspot.com/2015/02/tale-of-epic-gamer-february-goal.html

I like that green - it's different from ones you usually see. Strangely refreshing.

Minty fresh.  lol

Excellent work, Sean.

And they taste good too.   ;)

Thanks for the kind comments.

I'm surprised by the progress I have made on these Epic models.  It turns out that making goals is useful.  Who'd of thought it?

Well done making such progress on your forces so far, these models bring back some happy memories :) Nice painting and basing styles too, particularly the Ork infantry basing for me.

Only issue for me is your Ork tank barrels - perhaps a dot of black to show where the barrel muzzles are? :)

Keep it up!

My March goal was Tyranids.  Well I have finished them, even though it is a little late.

Hive Tyrant Brood.

Genestealer Brood.

The whole army.

The army includes:

Hive Tyrant Brood
Tyranid Warrior Brood
3 Genestealer Broods
2 Hormagaunt Broods
Termagaunt Brood

Total of 1,200 points using NetEpic Gold lists.

For May, I'm working on Imperial Guard.

My first unit is an infantry company.  This 33 stands with 4 models per stand; that is 132 infantry models plus 2 command vehicles.  That is a lot of infantry.  The plan is for a simple color palette.

I've decided on a basic grey with a black wash.  I will add bits of color to distinguish units on the field.

The helmet color will change for different unit.

I'm nearly finished with my May goal.  The only thing I have left to do is finish the basing.

Infantry company

Leman Russ Platoon

Sentinel Platoon

The vehicles painted up very quickly and the infantry went fairly quickly as well.  This army will eventually have a rather large number of models so I chose a pretty simple paint scheme, but it still looks pretty decent.

I finally got around to taking the finished army picture of the IG that I painted in May.

I based with a basic brown static grass.  I like the look.

I've decided to go back to the Eldar for my June goal.  I plan to paint a Spirit Host, a Falcon Host, and a Doomweaver Battery.  I've made good progress so far.
