Braz's build - ice palace

:(  Going to drop by the dollar store tomorrow to get some supply samples - need to know if the materials will work for my first idea.

James, I won't tell; just let it go! :D

If the materials don't work my backup will be it's opposite.

The entry must include something that ties in with the theme. Anything goes whether it be a fire engine, a snowman, a burnt out hut in the snow, a log fire in a dungeon room, a wizard casting an ice spell etc.
Hey....  Wait a second here...... lol

Had to wait for modeling material to be of proper consistency.
1:1 scale

I don't think there is anything stated about scale in the regulations of the contest. Though, James made it clear we were not meant to post pictures of finished final builds on the progress logs! You have to go back to building your ice palace!

Not completed; carrot and scarf still need to be added. Learning how to knit the scarf is taking some time :D

Still building the Ice Palace though. Sourced some inexpensive photo frames from the dollar store, and worked out the templates for the stairs. Using steel rule and sharp blade, made many small cuts on both sides before snapping out the pieces - do not have access to a laser unlike some persons *jealous*.

Purchased some not too toxic acrylic specific glue as superglue, epoxy, and model airplane glue all work to a certain extent but not strong enough for my liking with this mystery frame material.

Off to cut some more pieces out.

Cheers

An update.
Yup, I haven`t forgotten about the contest but was distracted by work, illness, a home invading sleepover birthday party, a pulp freighter build, a pod colony build and a few other tidbits.
After many an unsuccessful attempt to build some curved staircases (too ambitious for alloted time) out of my chosen mystery build material, scraped what I had done to date and changed to something a little more conventional. Lots of lessons learned at least  :) and gained a nice pile of warped plexi :(.

Here are the new templates:

And stairs cut out:

The main landing built up:

Gluing the stairs in place:

Also started on the columns:

More to come.
