My cilician pirates so far. The look i wanted on the miniatures was of diferent men/races/origins (with diferent weapons), from local helenistic to freed slaves who joined the pirates. So far these are my choices.
Again, opinions and ideas are welcome.

I'm not convinced that the Early Medieval chap on the right fits the bill (is he Irish?). The helmet and the sleeved chainmail are far too late for the 1st C. BC. I guess it depends on how button-counting your opponents are.

The others are perfect for what you want I think.

Thanks Eric, Patrice and Nic.
Well, i needed a captain for my small band so i found that pict from GB and decided that he would do the trick.
Maybe a mail shirt stolen from a roman?
By the way, he doesnt have a helmet he is bald. :D
I can always sculp the rest of the mail shirt as a roman one with sholder reinforcements.

Any ideas on painting colors/patterns?

For the bottom of the Mail, you can sculpt some triangular mail sections like some auxiliary one. Those wear by the roman marines. More logical for pirates  lol

That depends on the period. ;)
I´m playing more Caesar period.
This one will be tricky for i think that all depends on how i paint him.
I have another one being transformed that will appear soon.

Maybe a mail shirt stolen from a roman?

Mail was being used in the Hellenistic world, no problem with that, but I believe mail sleeves were much later inventions. Hellenistic mail would have had the shoulder straps without sleeves.

Again, it's not really a huge deal, but if you want to be as accurate as possible you may be better with a Roman tribune or Hellenistic officer type.

Some update.
A new cilician pirate this time converted from a foundry hoplite character, with a macedonian head with cap and a plastic sword arm from warlord cesarian romans.

p.s. the leader with mail shirt is converted. Just waiting to dry and then a photo, plus another pirate (nubian or numidian you name it). :D

And the first one painted.
Mailshirt transformed and sleeves corrected.
Some highlights and corrections needed but its almost there.
Again, opinions are welcome.

2 boats would be nice. 1 for the romans and 1 for the pirates but the only ones i know are from Grand Manner and they are pricey plus postage at 40%.
If i have the mood and patience i might try and scratchbuid 1 and see how it goes.
Meanwhile i will be happy to paint them and game land actions. :D

Second pirate on my band.
A recently freed slave still being tested by the pirates untill can be trusted.
Opinions are most welcome.

Nice idea with the "trainee" pirate Rui! His sort-of-clueless expression fits his role nicely  8)
