About 4,000 British and Hessian troops, from a force of about 14,000 troops, were engaged in this battle with about 1,450 to 1,600 American troops, from a force of about 14,500 troops. This battle ended with a British victory, when British and Hessian troops, advancing from their encampment in Eastchester, forced the American troops defending Chatterton's Hill (now Battle Hill), in White Plains, about six miles away, to retreat, northward.

Beautiful! Always a treat to see White Plains reports because I drive through the battlefield every day.
Now what is this whole life of mortals but a sort of comedy, in which the various actors, disguised by various costumes and masks, walk on and play each one his part, until the manager waves them off the stage?

that must be interesting to see.

Sad to say, there isn't much to see.  There's a small plaque, a cannon barrel bolted to a boulder, and a few historical street names, but I don't imagine that the people who live on Chatterton Hill (now called Battle Hill) have any idea what happened where their houses now stand.

What a great shame, but people like yourself are interested in that piece of history and know what its all about.

There is a place in Manchester UK, i often go around looking at the streets in central Manchester, i look how modern and updated the place is, thing is alot of the streets hold a very important piece of history, the names of the streets generated from the E.C.W.and the July ‘Banquet skirmish happened which was suppose to be the first death of the war.

I don't think many people even in Manchester knew that, but they reckon thats what happened.
