Bah, there's only a few minis I'd really want, so not worth ordering really, and postage to Finland.... o_o

I suppose I could be induced to participate in a group order, if some Finns on this forum are going to pledge? I know at least two Finnish forumites here...

I am kicking myself for not pledging in the Zealot minis Dungeon accessories KS, now those would have been really useful.

Yeah... I don't want to be rude but I wonder if the US citizens ever pay taxes and other fees when they order from abroad... It's one thing to pay for postage but it's quite maddening to have to pay taxes and "other fees" to actually get your parcel from the delivery company.
Short answer is the US does not have a value added tax.  What value it adds I do not know.  When I lived over there you did occasionally get his with customs fees.  It was hit or miss if they decided to charge you.  It really does seem to me that most countries are actively discouraging their people from ordering through overseas vendors by jacking up the price, just so they can collect tax revenue from distributors.
A lot of US companies, and peoples, I bought figures from don't seem to understand why I ask to keep the size and weight of the boxes they send down... Bigger, heavier parcels seem to get more attention from our postal services and are more likely to be hit with extras, customs or "varied" fees.
Postal fees as mentioned above are a killer in the states.  My rant is over.

I won't be buying in for the same reasons I skipped the first two: heaps of stuff I don't need.

It's awesome that the KS generate a ton of money for them to bring stuff out quickly and cheaply.  I do think some of the big kits are a tremendous deal (and to this end, I'll be grabbing a handful of big monsters on my buddy's KS).  However I have ZERO appeal for a huge mass of random miniatures.  Cowboys, sci-fi, fantasy, chibi...etc.  All kind of thrown into a huge pile.

It's like "hey, buy a pile of stuff you'll stare at for the next five years on your desk". lol

That being said, the Bones stuff is so darn cheap retail I don't feel like I'm missing out on too much.

I bought in big on the first one. Bought a few things for the second and am going all in on this one. I made my money back selling of bits and pieces from the first one and still ended up with a lot of nice stuff that I wanted leftover.

Those are all new "direct to bones" figures.

Drat, really hoped to see them in metal.

Marthrangul, the frost giants and the ogres seem nice, but not nice enough for the shipping and customs costs that'd no doubt stack up.

I really have no idea what I'm doing.

The Bones have been great for me, being able to pick up the one-off stuff that I want when I need it, but I agree with Elbows, most of it would just add to the already expansive pile of stuff that I already have! :)

Thanks

I have a ton of stuff from the first Bones (vampire level). I've traded some away, and painted a few pieces here and there. All three of the campaigns feel so heavily tilted towards fantasy miniatures that it's simply not worth getting in on. Canadian shipping on the first campaign was also relatively affordable, but that changed for campaign 2 and 3. I'd rather pick up a few at retail than order another box of stuff I really don't need.

That said however, the Bones material is pretty easy to work with, and quality of the sculpt is definitely good enough for the price. There are some casting issues, but overall I think they're a good value and paint up nicely.

I'm in :)

just bear in mind that you probably pay up to almost 1.5x times the original price - up to 25% P&P and 20% taxes on top (even on the P&P).
It's really a shame though that Reaper does not make use of one of their distributors as most of the Board game producers do. I believe they miss out on a large group of potential backers.
Why aim for gold if you can get lead?

Lots of interesting big monsters. I will not be buying into KS because I already have lots of small monsters and things. But I may pick up a dragon or something when they hit the shops.
