That's a rather good idea. The maximum you ever need is 12 (2D6). At earlier levels it's D6 Chaos Warriors (no Marauders, although I'm tempted to just mix them in and 'count as').

Another week, another single figure, because life is getting in the way of my project. However, it's a model I've been looking forward to painting for ages - the Barbarian from Statuesque Miniatures. I said at the beginning I was going to replace the Barbarian, Dwarf and Wizard from the set, so this is the first of those:

I've said it before and I'll say it again: The Statuesque dungeon adventurers are probably the cleanest cast metal minis I've ever bought, and are a joy to paint!

In other news: Important Snotling Update for Elbows - They are finally undercoated and ready to paint!!!  lol

Brilliant! :-*

I think i like that better than the 'offical' paint job! Well done! 8)

Praise indeed! The official one was crisper - I certainly don't quite have the eye for that level of finish. But I didn't like the bright red cape lining inside a black cloak - it seemed a bit too opulent for a Barbarian. So I went with a grimy look - he looks like he's been stuck down a filthy dungeon for a few days, and is really cross about it! lol

I don't really care for the face sculpt. He looks like an ogre...

The paintjob is top-notch as always, though.

They are a caricatured set of minis, for sure (and who says he can't have a bit of Ogre in him? He's a marauder from the frozen north, after all ;). I actually think they're more Warhammery than the actual Warhammer Quest figures lol

Cheers chaps.

I've picked out my Dwarf already. I'm in two minds about which Wizard I'm going to use - I've got a cool one from Reaper minis, and an old Warhammer battle wizard. I'll either post up some snaps of the two models and take suggestions, or just bite the bullet and paint both. Who doesn't like a good wizard, eh?

What a WONDERFUL nose! The rest of his oh-so-expressive face is equally impressive...FANTASTIC WORK on an OUTSTANDING miniature!

imposing bad guy! Very nice miniature and very well painted. Quote about the PJ, much better with the grimy look! It's a ferocious barbarian not a elf princess! lol

I feel like I start every other post with 'I got distracted. so...' lol

Last week I really did get distracted, massively so! I was searching in the attic for some extra bits for the project, and came across a case of Vampire Counts figures for Warhammer 6th edition. In that case was one of my favourite old minis, painted to a very basic 'army standard' - the Varghulf (for non Warhammer players, it's a Vampire/Werewolf hybrid trope).

So, even though this beastie has no rules in Warhammer Quest, I decided to rebase him and repaint him anyway! I'll cook up some rules somewhere along the the way, but for the time being he was just fun to revisit.

Pictures were really tricky - my homemade lightbox setup struggles with anything larger than a 40mm based critter, so hope these look okay.

An excellent model, and your efforts (even if "basic Army-standard") still show him off wonderfully! :)

Any thoughts on which ghouls you'll use for your undead models?  :)
