I bring to you the semi-regular raising from the dead of this ongoing (probably lifelong) thread...
I've been working on a couple of larger models for my higher-level dungeoneers to battle. Just finished the first of these today. So, I give you: the Griffon!

I absolutely love classic metal models, and of the old Citadel monsters this particular Griffon is probably my favourite. This is 'Stormwing', the War-Griffon of Eltharion, sculpted by Trish Morrison (now Trish Carden on various social media). I was contemplating swapping his wings with something a bit more modern and dynamic, but they're so difficult to join that it would have meant more feather-sculpting than I'm comfortable with. So instead I carefully bent the original wings to give them a nice, natural curve. I'm pleased with the result - this is very much a benefit of metal models!
Colour scheme, I went for a traditional golden eagle and lion combo rather than the various fancy leopards and tigers beloved of GW. The golden eagle has quite a muted palette, and I used loads of photo reference for the wings.

Wing top-down. Note the white is brighter, with no striping on the feathers.
