WHQ95 came out while the WHFB 4e Undead army book was still in use.  Ghosts were still individually based in both games at that time.  Ghosts didn't become multibased swarms until the first Vampire Counts army book for fifth edition dropped in 1999.

Nice piece of history/trivia! For some reason I thought the "spirit host" thing was from earlier, but I never had the 4th ed. Undead book (though I kinda wish I did just from the standpoint of it being a major fleshing out [woof!] of the undead fluff as far as I knew it).
I have a YouTube and so can you!

Latest additions to the collection: D6 Wights now complete!

Hot damn, these models are TERRIBLE  lol. I mean, they look sorta okay now they're finished, but out of all the iterations of GW Grave Guard, they are the worst to assemble, a little small scale-wise, and fiddly to paint. And now they're done, my limited photography setup can't really photograph them properly because they simply don't have a good angle. No matter how you rotate them, they have weapons or shields or random spikes jutting out, completely throwing the focus... What I wouldn't give for my old metal Grave Guard, but I stupidly sold them many years ago.

And... breathe  lol

You know what's great about these models though? They were FREE! Yes, that's right, a lovely friend who thought he was doing me a favour donated them to my project. If only he'd known the swearing and cut fingers that would ensue...

Hand weapons and shields.

Great weapons

Family portrait.

Proof that I do actually paint the backs of my models.

Haha. If he was a REAL friend he'd have cleaned and assembled them for me, too ;)

Even when they're free, there's a price to be paid  lol

Smashing work, I'd say the frustration was worth it.

A new addition to the project today, and an interesting one (for me). I always loved the Tomb Kings Ushabti, but there were a few issues in adding them to my Warhammer Quest dungeon. Firstly, they didn't exist when Warhammer Quest was written, and thus there are no rules or cards for them, and secondly, when I decided I wanted to include them, they were out of production (GW had just canned the Tomb Kings when they launched Age of Sigmar). So what to do?

Step 1 was to make some monster cards for them, which I had professionally printed in a big batch of Bestiary card additions. Thus:

Second was to source models. Ebay prices were insane at that time, so in the end I went with some 3D printed Not-Ushabti from Highlands Miniatures. I don't so this often, as the results can be so random, but these were surprisingly nice. As a result, here are my first 3 Ushabti!

Of course, thanks to the "Old World" game materializing, the originals are now back in production. But the prices  o_o ... They currently retail at £55 / $89 for 3, so I don't feel too bad about using proxies!

Those guys look great! I think I might like them better than the originals- and it appears they'll fit better on the WHQ floor spaces, which is nice.

Yeah, in that respect they're perfect. Those are 30mm bases, same as a WHQ square. Generally speaking, you can get Highlands Miniatures printed in two scales, 28mm or 32mm. These are the 28s. Luckily there are no scalable objects on the sculpts (such as human skulls), because they're always scaled to suit the 32mm print.

It does look like a parrot, doesn't it? I think it's supposed to be a vulture. In fact, I think it's taken directly from this video game concept art, which is equally dubious: https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/warhammerfb/images/c/cf/Total_War_Ushabti_Concept_Art_1.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20180405205224

The jackal head doesn't quite work either, because it has ears on the skull (they normally depict the ears as part of a headdress). I painted it like the dried skin instead.

well I guess they have to distinguish it from the crocodile somehow...  lol

ears aren't really a concern when they all have dog legs and arms regardless of the species' skull.
