As honeycomb is not a material that not everyone else can readily get I looked around for something similar.  I had a couple of plastic road signs I snagged from my wife after her companies event.

Coroplast is a plastic sheeting used in making signs.

I had the 4mm sheeting and the windows are smaller than the honeycomb but I would think that the 6mm stuff would be a closer fit.
Here is 4mm next to my current buildings.

Thanks

A little battle damage on the smooth sides, and you're good to go! Nice find, and a great utilization!

Nice stuff. I agree, basing with rubble with the vegetation is the way to go.

Thanks for all the responses!  I was able to get some more time put into my growing city.  I am trying different sizes and shapes to see what I like.

I don't want to add too much to the flat sides as it will limit the modularity of the buildings.  I am looking for simple details to add to the buildings to make them a bit more "lived in".

thanks

That is just superb...really nails the feel.  Just litter the table/roads with suitable rubble and it's perfect.  Awesome, keep posting as it develops.

I was able to get a bit of work done this project here and there and figured now is a good time to show off some more pics.  I don't really consider any of the buildings done at this point.  They are just waiting for the next level of detail to be added.  I have also acquired more of the honeycomb material so progress on bulk buildings can start finally.

I needed a table to try and see how many buildings I would need.  I had a sheet of paneling tucked away so I cut it to sort of 2x2 or there about.  I am not a stickler as I don't want the "math" to be that apparent in movement and fire distances.

A bit of watered down woodglue and play sand makes the city blocks.  It got sprayed with black undercoating and then I hit it with some blackboard spraypaint to matte it down.  I have not decided how I want to handle the roads yet.  Part of me thinks i should cheat and just shrink down some of my world work games stuff and glue it on.  The other part wants to see if I want to suffer through painting lines by hand.

I have started to add the overgrown static flock to the board.  I am not sure how "green" I will be in the end.  But I don't want to go crazy until I figure out how I am going to detail the roads.

Just a few pics of the stuff together.

One more building done, two more almost ready to start painting, and enough materials to make high-rises in all of the city blocks.
Thanks for looking and I am always happy to hear comment and ideas on how to make this better.

This works scarily well. If you look on the web you can find 6mm civilian cars in large bags super cheap, they might help give your roads a bit more of that suddenly abandoned feel if you line them up the way the would be left. Just a suggestion.
