Second game of Frost Grave
« on: 09 August 2015, 03:48:19 PM »
This time I played a Witch and my friend Tyler played a Chronomancer.   Picked up on a few possible errors form that last game but had a lot of fun.

My Witch used the following spells Poison dart, brew potion, curse, heal, enchant weapon, steal health, bind demon and absorb knowledge.

I am thinking of adding an extra odd piece of treasure as a tie breaker as we both got 3 pieces any one have an thoughts on that?

Not to keep banging on about this, but this was another reason that we added a time limit to games - the ones that didn't end up in one sided stomps often ended 3-3. Since we added a time limit, we've had a lot more 3-2s, 2-1s and so on and they're often very close. That would be my suggestion rather than adding more treasure.

That said, if adding an extra piece of treasure is the way you'd like to change that then that's a good idea too! Have you tried playing scenarios rather than the default game? They also don't tend to end up in draws as much, either.

What sort of time limit?  We played our game in 2.5 hours.... I guess we will be able to go faster but we would lose some of the social aspects.

What sort of time limit?

Turn limit rather than time limit.
2 options are a Piquet style moving clock. Allow an hour on the "clock" and at the end of each turn roll a d6, on a 6 (or 5 or 6 if you want) the clock moves on 1/4 hour, reach the hour and the game ends. Or a Peter Pig style countdown. Start at 21 and end of each turn roll a d6 and deduct that score from 21, reach 0 and game ends.

As for treasure, take one away rather than add an extra, there is already the potential for too much money in the game with 6 treasure.

I like the Peter Pig idea.  Sort of like a big snowstorm is blowing through, and you only have a limited time to get in, grab stuff, and get out.
