Frickin' heck! :o

You know; I've got loads of Renedra plain plastic bases, but want to base all my Myth miniatures on paved bases. So I've been looking everywhere for plastic bases with such a texture. The only ones coming close were the urban bases by Champ Industries, but they're modern and do not quite match my idea.

So I contemplated using embossed plasticard, glued to those plain Renedra plastic bases. But Slaters is the only one with a texture close to what I want, and then not quite.

And here are Renedra, doing exactly what I've been looking for all this time. Go figure... ::) lol

So; thanks for the heads-up; I'll be ordering a nice big batch of them soonish now... :D
Miniatures you say? Well I too, like to live dangerously...

Time for an update again! Received a big package of awesome Reaper Bones stuff from Miniature Heroes two weeks ago and sat down on them. They were my first experience with Bones! So far I think it's cool stuff. Excellent for big critters. It holds detail well enough, is light and cheap. I REALLY wanted to do my new Basilisk first, the model is just so cool.

Basilisk (Reaper Bones Burrowing Horror)

What a beast! Love the character it has: Well armoured, lumbering and mean. I quickly decided I wanted to do them with metallics. So a lot of drybrushing and edge highlighting. I only needed to paint a bit of leather-like skin on the underside, its nails, teeth and eyes with 'normal paints'. So went fast.
And he's BIG!

The ghoul is on a 25mm base and the Basilisk on a 50mm base. So yes, he has some oomph on the table 8).

I also did his creature card:

I am making creature cards for all of my creatures, to create a deck of creature cards. This way we don't have to use tables anymore. Simply draw the top card when a creature appears. And we don't have to go through the books for stats, much easier this way.
(yes, when using cards you have bigger chances of meeting nasty creatures...but that's okay. It's cool to let them have more time on the table :))

Sewer Slimes

Calling these paintjobs would be silly...they took me 10 seconds per model! They are transparent Bones models. I only washed them well and applied Tamiya Clear Green and Clear Yellow to them. Done! Love how they look.
And their cards:

Next up will be a Bat Swarm (with the stats of the Snow Leopard) and a Knight.

:o The wash + Tamiya Clear trick on the oozes is absolutely brilliant! I've never thought of that, but this makes it seem so obvious. Looks really good.

Also nice to see the basilisk painted. I didn't realize it was that big, even though I've been thinking of getting one on a few occasions.
Bones really are nice for medium-sized or larger monsters. And even some of their later human sized ones are getting pretty good. I've been painting up some of their townsfolk as set-decoration and scenario-objectives, and for that they work really well.

Cheers! By washing I mean actually washing them...with water and soap! :D. So to get rid off all the stuff from moulding. Then just splosh on the Tamiya Clears and done!

Gorgeous models.  Nice idea with monster deck.

Would it be possible if I could get your PSD template for these?  I'd love to make my own deck as well.  If not it's cool, I can piece something together in photoshop.

One thing you could do to make up for the differences between dice is just print multiple monster cards for the lesser monsters.

Very nice!
I've got my eye on those burrowing horrors for the use as Devourers.

Woops  :D Still clever and probably a pretty good idea as well. I also always wash my bones minis (as do I resin and often metals too)

That just makes the method even simpler and nicer  lol

@Jennifer: Sorry, totally missed your post! But sure you're free to have the .psd and work with it, no problem! PM me your mail address and I will share them. They're not very well organized as files, but that's the way I work in Photoshop ;)
@jp1985: thanks! And yes...once I saw how big they are I also thought they would be awesome Devourers. But I have an incoming Devourer from the USA...it's huge and it's spidery! 8)

Update! The Wight King

Once again a miniature that had been collecting dust for way too long! After the last game my Templar died and I decided to replace him with a Knight...and I also found a Vampiric blade. So this model was perfect! I had lots of fun painting him. The metallics went nice and fast and although the cloak cost me some time I loved every minute of it.
Next up will be a zombie Werewolf, to use as Zombie Troll in game 6 of the Lich Lord campaign.

+1

The way the cloak blends from blue to muddy earth tones with snow "highlights" - genius.
