Do you have any photos of that Rumacara? It would be great to see them if you do.

Wow - great photos, and superb uniforms. It really does bring it all to life.

Is that you in the second picture, may I ask?

Yes thats me. :)
That was a training session for the bunch.
I dont have much in reenactments because i always evade from cameras or i´m the cameraman.
Hope they are usefull.

The Brown of the uniform varied a lot because it was (and still is) made by hand and each parcel gets a diferente Brown so if you want to mix 2 or 3 browns on the same unit thats correct.
The uniform material is called Burel or serrabeco (saragoca in spain and northern Portugal).

Great stuff - thanks for sharing. It has added a whole new dimension to my modest Portuguese project, and I'll be sure to take care of the 6th in any future games we have (especially the atiradores).

I just hope you will forgive my forthcoming last post on the Loyal Lusitanian Legion, in barretinas. In my heart of hearts I know I'm almost certainly wrong, but I am clinging to something I read somewhere that a unit may have been wearing the barretina some time after arrival in Portugal...

According to military registers the equipment came from England together with the refugees who volunteered but they may have used the barretina as a temporary equipment or like you mentioned a unit may have wear it.
The barretinas where in use after 1810 specially in some uniformed militia units.
It was substituted by the shako because it costed a lot more to manufacture.
