Hello
I have another very specific request of info to ask, this time, to the experts on French Colonial ..a pair of them i read some very useful comments in this forum.
I've almost completed a unit of my favourite French Colonial unit..the Tirailleurs Sénégalais..of which , from years, i collected quite a few infos..they are for their classic period that's to say battling and policing in French Sub-saharian AOF-AEF, Madacasgar...in practice the famous Tirailleurs of Marchand...what i never found for this troop, in this period ..is an image of the Fanion they probably used fixed, on march, on the barrel of their gun....i understand that's not such an important element for a wragame unit..but i succeeded in nicely converting a marching Riversco Tirailleur with a metal wire fro his Lebel and, together with the the Askari Miniatures officer , NCO and bugler it could be a command useful for my skirmish type TSATF games...
on the web i only find scant references on fanions from WW1 in which those units had been transformed in régiments and already had battle honours from the same conflict...strange enough a lt of infos are available..for the pre-WW1 period, which is the one that interest me, for Algerian Tirailleurs..even Moroccans..but not Senegalese...any idea?
thanks in advance for your patience
regards
