Cheap investigator figures from Cluedo
« on: 23 October 2015, 02:29:59 PM »
Hi all,

I don't know if this has been mentioned before, but I found some quite nice investigator models in a board game. I picked up a cheap used copy of a 1996 Cluedo game at a car boot sale a while back; here are some images of the models, including scale comparisons.

Copplestone, Cluedo, Rafm, Cluedo, Reaper, Cluedo

Metal Magic / Moonraker, Cluedo, Foundry (I think), Cluedo, Copplestone, Cluedo, Heroclix, Cluedo, Rafm

There are a few different Cluedo sets with figures. From what I've seen these are about the best in terms of size and sculpt.

I recall hearing that the masters for one set (possibly this one) were from Copplestone?
Gary, Glynis, and Alasdair (there are three of us, but we are too mean to have more than one login)

I wonder if that is not the set -- currently available from Moonraker -- that I linked in the blog post? Colonel Mustard has a certain Copplestone-y vibe about him. I'm sure Doug could tell us.

If anyone has a set of these to sell, I'd love to have them.

Try thrift stores or goodwill (if you have them locally). I've picked up this version of Cluedo just for the figures, it set me back maybe 5€. They pop up quite regularly over here.

They are so cool! I had no idea there were Cluedo editions that had actual figures in them, ours have always just had the usual 'cone with a ball on top' style meeples. I'm off to the local charity shops to see if I can find a set  :)

there  were three Cluedo sets with figures. The one shown here, a second with plastic figures in more modern dress, and a deluxe set with pewter figures which are now available from Moonraker

The pewter figures set is certainly sculpted by Copplestone.

I bought a whole game to get them, then had the seller (in the UK) throw away the rest of the game and ship just the figures to me in California.  I had 'em painted to a high standard by the Sri Lankans, and really like them.

I didn't know there were plastic figure versions of the game.

Here's a link to Moonraker from whom you can purchase the Copplestone sculpted Cluedo figures separately, which would have been MUCH cheaper for me years back.

I picked up these fellows to use for Pulp games and they are magnificent and paint up easy. I use a wide range of sizes that is a bit big, so they worked out perfectly for me. So far, I've painted four of them:

Thanks folks  :D

Those Cluedo figures really do paint up well, I must say.
