Cheers James. I'm wondering on whether to put the lasers on the sides or underside of the asteroid if I raise it off the ground.

Edit: I remembered some toys from the 80s I had that were clip together sci-fi kits. I've kept them incase they ever came in handy. Having found them in the attic they will make serviceable lasers and I may even have found the refuelling equipment I wanted for huge ship access.

Just place them anywhere you don't want ships to approach  :D

The funny thing is I'm now thinking about firing arcs and blind spots and so on. Or rather 'overthinking' them. If I'm going to use it in X-Wing there needs to be some sort of rules for its use.

The laser turrets are on and a few other odds and sods too. I've also lifted it off the ground. I think it looks better. I can start using the filler over the foam once the glue dries then it's on to painting. But what colour?  I'm thinking grey but I'm very tempted to go with a white scheme.

Filler over the blue foam - check
Toy guns added so I don't have to stick bits of old pens on and pretend they're lasers - check
Filler dry so I can undercoat - nope

The grey tube is supposed to be for refuelling larger craft, by the way.

Looking good  8)

Will the base colour of the base be different from the asteroid's base colour?

And what about the range of those laser turrets, are they able to cover all the approaches? :)

I'm urging the filler to dry as I want to see the paint go on!  8)

I'm thinking either a dark grey for the asteroid and white for the base, or a grey-brown for the asteroid and a contrasting grey -black for the base.

The guns still move in the mountings. The elevation can change and they can swivel 360 degrees,  though I'm sure they would have limiters fitted to stop them hitting the base. The three gun's arcs overlap too.

I'm urging the filler to dry as I want to see the paint go on!  8)

Thanks Steve.  I still need to decide on colours.

Might I suggest a grey/brown for the Rock and a very light grey for the base?

cheers

Sounds great on the guns :)

Both colour choices are quite fitting, would be hard to choose between the two.

I do like the grey-brown idea for the rock. I'll undercoat tonight in a grey primer.

Sounds great on the guns :)

I'm not sure how it will work in game terms yet though.

Here's a discussion regarding turbolaser turrets on BGG, haven't tried anything myself though:
