40K Skirmish, Space Marines half squad
« on: 22 January 2016, 07:06:11 PM »
Hi,

while missus was putting baby to sleep I got some time with my bits box and came up with a quick build. I guess he is going to be an agent of the Skitarii, useful chap in near future if I get hold of enough minis for a small skirmish action.

Paint wise no idea yet, most probably something dark and sinister with some metallic bits :)

@James: yes, there are some new additions coming. The agent of the Skitarii is going to have a buddy wielding a BFG to take down some bigger targets and then there are these very simple conversions in form of sorta like Adeptus Astartes.

@Vanvlak: now that you mention it, he does have that Vaderesque charm to him :)

@DowVooVoo: cheers, more to come :)

So with grandparents visiting I stole a morning break from diaper duty and put together a half squad of Adeptus Astartes, they are here to enforce the rule of Emperor and Law... SM Scout plastic bodies and heads from AM Skitarii/Ranger box, inspiration from a LAF member (sorry, can't remember who). Will also hack five to seven metal SM scouts to make it full squad with sniper support :)

Nice kitbashing, sir.
I think those Arbites are some of the nicest that I have seen.

Very cool. I like any kind of "agent of..." concepts, not least in the 40K universe. And the Adeptus Arbites have always been cool.

What are the Skitarii, though? I don't think they existed back when I was into 40K 10+ years ago. I've been hearing Skitarii this and Skitarii that lately o_o

More machine than man.....

Thank you good sirs, feedback much appreciated.

Had a quick chop-heads-off moment with metal SM scouts, added plastic Skitarii helmets and few more Adeptus Arbites  were born. I do like the plastic ones better but these will do for now. Still the sniper to do...

It does indeed.
I may need to add some local rozzers to my campaign at some point.
If I do I may come back to sniff around this thread to pinch ideas.

Many thanks again gents  8)

Here's some more Ad Mech types along with the first agent. The beastie is an old mini, never had the courage to start painting it!  o_o Maybe for this purpose it will have some colour on it...

And then a FW piece, bought from the Fleabay. The arms are not glued on yet, I think he could use some other form of weaponry, maybe from the Skitarii sprue? He is a tad taller than the two other agents, but with lots of AM gubbins on him he will fit in nicely, just another weird AM test subject on the loose...

Re: 40K Skirmish, now with "truescale"
« Reply #14 on: 23 January 2016, 06:18:32 PM »
So basic idea I'm having this all is to have about 10 or so minis per side. Sides will be the following:

Adeptus Mechanicus (the big monster, 2 agents plus other weird AM types)
Adeptus Arbites (10, missing a big bot walker type for them)
Genestealer Cult
Space Orks (will number 20 or so)
Adeptus Astartes (these will only five chaps + dreadnought)

Now with the Space Marines I wanted more chunkier types but with as little hassle as possible. Luckily I stumbled upon this blog:

http://www.tabledpodcast.com/horus-heresy/building-a-true-scale-heresy-era-space-marine-how-to-do-it-without-the-need-for-gs/

And with bit of cutting and glueing of plastic parts I got this. Good enough for me. Will make a sergeant, two normal bolter wielding chaps and one with a heavy bolter.

Feedback more than welcomed, especially keen to hear about good rules for skirmish 40K.
