LEGO Dragon Rampant: and now for something different
« on: 30 January 2016, 04:45:59 AM »
I hope this isn't heresy in these parts. :)

Also, I really need to get a display case. All my stuff gets uber dusty, despite my best efforts.

GOBLIN BELLICOSE FOOT

HUMAN LIGHT FOOT

DWARF HEAVY FOOT

GOBLIN SCOUTS

TROLL ELITE FOOT

Hope you like and/or don't chase me out with pitchforks!

Good job. It's always nice to see LEGO used for wargaming. If only they weren't so expensive  :'(

Well, I blame lego for being a gateway toy to miniatures, so I really love these. Apparently a lot has happened to lego figures since my childhood, like, where's the human parts from originally?

Now that is REALLY COOL! They look like Chibi but with more of an attitude. GREAT IDEA!

Thanks, All.

@kaiser: Most of the stuff you see is official LEGO. The humans are from their Ninjago range, IIRC. The dwarves are from a collectible minifig series. Gobbos I put together from bits of their Castle series trolls. The cave troll is straight from their licensed LOTR line. Most of the weapons are from third-party manufacturers (you certainly won't see any blood-splattered spears come out of official LEGO ranges); there are lots around these days, and some of the stuff they put out is great quality and detail (c.f., the axes and war hammers on the dorfs). Having said that, as you mentioned yourself, the detail on official LEGO parts has come a long way since their earlier days.

@Cherno: They're not too expensive. An average minifig will cost somewhere around $2 to $3. Equipment's probably an extra buck or so. The scale's probably more of a problem. I usually play with 28-32mm minis. LEGO minifigs are a fair bit bulkier (if not necessarily taller—they just take up more space in general).

Yeah, I think LEGO makes wargaming, even GW, look affordable!  lol

Excellent! I started out amassing figures for something similar a few years ago, but got stiffed for a big purchase by some guy on Bricklink, which sort of made me give up on it. I had several of the old Castle sets from when I was a kid, so the idea was to expand on that and game with them.
