3 Sisters - Corn, Beans, Squash
« on: February 26, 2016, 03:24:47 AM »

So, I finally got off my butt and tried out my ideas for modeling the Native American "3 Sisters" crop fields. I have a number of scenarios for Song of Drums and Tomahawks that are fought near tribal towns or villages. So, I wanted to make some pieces up that would model their unique fields. Rather than one-plant fields like European settlers, the Indian tribes would plant them together. The corn provided the stalk the bean to grow up, and the squash's wide leaves prevented weeds from choking out the other plants.

More pics and photos on my Lead Legionaries blog, along with explanation of how I made them. Check them out and let me kow what you think...

Cool!

Funny how once you learn a random fact like this, it can bother you to see it done "wrong" on the game table.

I'm the same way!

Thanks, everyone! I appreciate the comments. The teacher in me wants to make everything a lesson, I guess... ;D lol

I have been sitting on a bunch of corn stocks.

Sounds painful, Randy! Seriously, I'll have some of them based Settler style, and some based Indian style.

And good news, I was in Hobby Lobby today and found a plastic plant that will work for the bean stalks for my next batch. What's more, I even found a different plant that will work better for the squash leaves. I didn't buy it because I'm a cheapskate and will wait till Monday when I can use another 40% off coupon!  lol

Here's a pic of the soon-to-be bean sprouts:

Brilliant interpretation.
Just how I imagined the system to look.
