[KICKSTARTER] Flint & Feather
« on: May 03, 2016, 11:39:17 PM »
We are launching our Kickstarter to finance to printing of the Flint & Feather rule book. We are hoping to produce a full colour book with plenty of extras including painting guides, historical notes, scenarios and plenty of full colour illustrations and game photos. To help sweeten the pot we are adding or Huron/Wendat and Iroquois/Haudenosaunee miniature sets to the backer deals'

These 14 fig boxed sets will be available this summer, but at full price, along with our forthcoming Spirit Creatures and War Party Canoes boxed sets.

This project has been a passion of mine and we are continuing to add to the world of the Heroic Age of Great Lakes First Nations. Please back us and help make this rule book a reality.

I might be interested in the Spirit Creatures.

$110 for a rulebook (published March 2017) and 14 figures?........seems very expensive in comparison to the existing alternative game options.

That is Canadian Dollars, by the way... works out to about $85USD.  Most of the smaller manufacturers I have seen that make a hardback rulebook charge $40-50USD for the rulebook alone. Books aren't cheap, especially in smaller print volumes...

Really glad to see this going though! I have been waiting for these figures for a long time!

I am in at the Great Warrior level! Really looks like a colorful subject after my own heart although it is a bit of a connoisseur niche.

I wouldn't be surprised if the fact that the KS is in Canadian dollars doesn't confuse a few people--when I first saw it I thought it was USD and a bit high as well. Not much you can do about that I guess; people will just need to look a bit closer.

I personally think the prices are reasonable. You might look at using public domain art in the rulebook in addition to original art?  Osprey does this very well in their campaign books and they come across quite well.

In any case, I hope you make the goal and then some! Would love to see this expand with the canoes, spirit creatures, etc.

Bob's figures are great.
I purchased the first 15 a number of months ago.
No I have not painted any of them yet.
Shame on me.
As for the rule book, I am very happy to play SoDaT.
I really like the rules. Do I want another rule set?
May have to wait and pick up the other figures when they come for retail sale.

Good luck, Bob! I purchased 3 packs of the figs awhile back...okay, I received them as a Christmas present!  lol Thanks, Dad!

Anyway, I've never signed on to a kickstarter because when I price it out, it doesn't seem like the best deal. I am an unabashed cheapskate, at times. I wish you well with yours, though, because I love the period.

Randy, thanks for the words of support for my own Song of Drums and Tomahawks!!!

Here are the two sets of five that I've painted up to show folks what someone who is not at Bob's mastery of painting can do with such awesome figs. I entered these in previous rounds of the current Lead Painters League. I was very happy with how they came out. Bob makes some awesome figs!  :-*

I just finished up the Iroquois/Haudenosaunee War Party Catalogue pic.

The Kickstarter has gotten off to a good start. Hopefully we will finance the rule book. Thanks everyone for their support on this project!

If I can sell the figures I've recently painted, I will pledge too... Hobby money is a little short right now, but your figures are always excellent quality and fun to paint! 8)

We are half way to being funded and we just updated the Iroquois pic,
Take a look at these great miniatures and help us get our rules produced.

You can see a video of the game play on our blog at http://flintandfeatherplaytest.blogspot.ca/

And the intro portion of our rulebook is available on our website in a pdf here http://www.cruciblecrush.com/files/FF%20Intro_ForKS_May2016%281%29.pdf

We will have lots of support for this game system!!

Guys. You need to have frequent updates, new add ons, and someone responding to comments on the KS for this to succeed. It's awesome that you are halfway there already, but I expect the sales will stall after a few days and then you are going to have to do something to drive more sales and generate conversation. I only say because I really want to see this succeed.
