As a change of scenery from mindless bloodshed and slaughter in the verdant forests of the Old World we decided on some mindless bloodshed and slaughter in the verdant jungles of Africa. Congo!

Full report and more pictures (as I only posted a singular pic of the last game I played :D) over here on my blog

Due to pressures of work and family we haven't been gaming as often as we would like.  When we do, it's been alternating between WWII in Burma using Bolt Action, and Napoleonics using Black Powder.

Recently the planets lined up, with four of us available for a game.  We decided it would be a good opportunity to once again try and chastise the great Thief of Europe .

With 28mm miniatures on my 6'x4' table.  We found that using the BP rules with the scenarios from Neil Thomas' One Hour Wargames makes for ideal games, with no more than six units a side leaving plenty of space for maneuver.

It's a stubborn myth that Black Powder- or just Napoleonics in general- only works with large games.

We managed to get two scenarios in on one day last Sunday- one a very abstracted and scaled-down battle of Wavre, the other based on Langensalza, 1866. Both were challenging and fun- a great success.

The table looked good, dice were fickle, and the scenarios themselves proved tense.

Really fun day.

The last game I played. Was for my son and his friends.A small Pulp game out in the garden. I did post a few pictures over in Pulp, shortly after the game however its going to be that rare a thing over the next couple of months. It's my best shot at contributing to this thread for quite a while.

Last Saturday, 3rd June, saw me at New Buckenham Historical Wargamers for a game of Shako II in 28mm. The game was to be a scenario based on the Battle of Kalisz 1813.

Last night at the club, Elsenborn Ridge scenario from Bolt Action 'Battle of the Bulge' campaign book. Americans held on, thanks in part to Oberleutnant von Marcusstein's Brummbar breaking down on the way to the battlefield. Still lots of veteran fanatic infantry with assault rifles to make things dangerous for the frostbitten GIs...
