Pacific War.. Island hopping..new project
« on: July 13, 2016, 08:46:41 AM »
I have decided upon a new project in 28mm and am looking to tap the collective for figure/kit knowledge.

I have picked up a box of  Warlod , US Marines and Japanese infantry..

So good people , I see a range of choices in the WW2 figures thread which is a great resource . what are you options on them

And any personal choices for the range of vehicles, landing craft etc

Cheers

Warlord do a number of Pacific theatre vehicles - USMC Shermans with wooden armour, M5/8's & softskins plus LVTs & landing craft. Rubicon also do an excellent M5/8, but they don't come with crew, you'd have to get some from elsewhere (CompanyB do some). Sarissa do a nice Higgins boat (WG carry it also).
For the Japanese, again WG carry a reasonable choice (more than half a dozen types), but not so many others out there do (I'm assuming you're going with 1/56). Company B are one of the few & they also have some of the more unusual & cool vehicles, such as the Ho-Ha halftrack - they're worth a look.
 Hope that's helpful!

This guy on ebay carries some reasonable priced vehicles for the USMC and Japanese, worth a look

http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_odkw=&_sop=10&_saslop=1&_sasl=waylander.2012&_osacat=0&_from=R40&_trksid=p2045573.m570.l1313.TR11.TRC1.A0.H0.X1%2F56.TRS0&_nkw=1%2F56&_sacat=0

I've bought a few bits off him and while the castings are not perfect they're great for the price.

Company B is a great choice, and they have a lot of support, crew and accessories, decals, etc. as well: http://company-b-models-and-miniatures.myshopify.com/
