Panzerschiffe ships...
« on: 24 August 2016, 02:30:32 PM »
Has anybody ever dealt with Panzerschiffe for WW1 ships? I'm thinking of placing an order and have sent them a couple of queries, they've ignored better than Jellicoe did the Admiralty, at Jutland! They advertise British Battleships at $6, but don't make it clear if this is for one model ship or three... anybody have any ideas?

Harry, I have lots of Panzerschiffe. All their ship models listed are single models, even destroyers. Panzerschiffe isn't good at response to email inquiries. I've had good luck ordering from them. It's very rare to get a wrong model or model which didn't have the resin set correctly, and the company will make it right. Panzerschiffe makes sturdy blocky models that are good for wargaming, even without putting any bases beneath them. A good painter who can lay down a thin precise layer of paint can make them look good.

However, why are you interested in ordering Panzerschiffe? If you're in Blighty, then the VAT and shipping makes them not such a good option. You've got local UK options in 1:3000 scale that look as good as the Panzerschiffe in 1:2400 scale.

But the best value for money now is the WTJ (War Times Journal) 3d printed plastic models, which can be printed in multiple scales. Those look better to me than most GHQ models, for less money. WTJ (one guy) is really great to deal with, and is responsive to email. Only drawback for you is that WTJ is also a US company. But the model quality is so high that it would probably be worth the VAT and shipping.
Sailors have more fun!

Thanks Warren, I got a decent pile of Panzerschiffe ships for thirty quid from someone on here. If you ever fancy selling some of yours I'd be interested. I want a few more to finish a British and German Fleet. This is about as good as I could get with mi' resin sailboats...

'One Hour Wargames' meets Jutland!
Battle has taken place and it finished one all. First game HMS Lion's magazine exploded, which had Yours Truly dancing a jig on the bridge of the Seydlitz. This seemed to knock the stuffing from the RN, they quite literally went under quickly. Beatty himself, was fished out by a passing Hun Destroyer who's Captain screwed in his monocle, smiled evilly, and opined...

lol "Velcome aboard Admiral for yu zer vor ist over!"  lol

Second game, having gormed the rules and got the full measure of the quarter wit commanding the Grand Fleet, I stormed forward in great style. Twenty minutes later Admiral Jellybrayn led HMS Iron Duke and a Squadron of three Dreadnoughts over the High Seas Fleet's last resting place, not exactly how I'd planned the engagement if I'm honest... but who's going to lose any sleep over 'arry 'un getting it right in the neck?

Harry, very nice use of the rugged qualities of Panzerschiffe models. With their very flat bottoms and lack of fragile fiddly bits, they work great without bases.

Not sure how many Panzerschiffe models I'll have left over when my WW1 collection is finished. Might have some British light cruisers and a couple of British destroyers left over, based on me buying some nicer but less sturdy WTJ models. (Like Ken, I base mine.) I don't have any Panzerschiffe dreadnoughts. Some of the Panzerschiffe armored cruisers are pretty good. Have you seen my old threads on TMP about available models in 1:2400 scale?
