Oh I just found out that the entire first series of cartoons is available to read online at the TMNT official site!

Here's the original issue 1

Hey, Thorbjorn, I'd forgotten about these too:

Fantasy football minis, but there is a rhinoman and a warthogman among others that might stand a conversion.  :)

Long out of production but there were official miniatures made for the RPG game

http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~tpope/sol/dark-horse/turtles.html

I seen some of the blisters some years back at a train show. They were 25mm or 28mm scale. Hard to say back then on scales and creep and such. :-)

Hmmm nice, guys!

I'm really not sure how I should start this project off.

I really want to go with the original Dark Horse things... but well - the availability speaks for itself!

2nd. best would be the "real" turtles from Eureka.

But I'm beginning to think that I should try sculpting my own instead. Using parts from other minis whereever I can. After all is said the basic shape of a ninja turtle is rather basic. I shouldn't be that hard to accomplish.

I've decided that my "foot" will be portrayed using completely standard ninjas. No hoity toity there.

Shredhead shouldn't be that hard to find. I'm currently looking at YOU urban mammoth... and your Triads. I don't need to replicate the movie/cartoon/series 100%. Just roughly.

Before I sculpt my own though, I'm giving it a try with more basic stuff.. think I'll do a couple of "Day of The Tentacle"-tentacles... If you remember those.

Now who has good rules for ninja fighting? Super sytem kanske?

I've just seen these - at $200 for 14 miniatures they are very expensive, but hey - check out E-bay.

How about Superfigs Assassin acolytes instead (henchmen)?

I quite like them, but the faces are to Kroot and not Turtle-like. The idea is nearly perfect. The faces should have been remodelled...

a bit of threatomancy. (and that in my first post.)
I think privateerpress trollkin heads (especially pygmies) might be a good base for the heads.

rolljordan have frog fantasy football players that form a perfect basis body (and actually, I think the heads work too.)
http://www.rolljordan.com/public/store//product_info.php?products_id=36&osCsid=snoc5mdeu7d7aqhf0h2l6j1i22

and I have seen several places that sell turtleshells as shields.

little work and you get some turtles.

btw. the way too expensive turtles references above are not 14 figures for 200 dollar, but 14 pieces.. the way I read it it only includes the 4 turtles O_O (multipart kits from the look of them.) either they are far from the right scale or they are cast in solid gold.
