So, I'm averaging one figure every five months. that 120-fig Kickstarter set is looking easy!  lol

I present Shevatas, the rogue.

Beautiful work!  I'm at the tail end of selling off the majority of my Conan stuff, but I kept a handful of cool models/big beasties.

The painting on that guy is stunning, but I really don't like the way he's holding his dagger. It looks like he's scratching his back with it.

There just isn't enough time in the day to paint all of the figures that I'd like.  I can probably paint an above-average miniature, but it just takes me far too long to get anything done.  I finally gave up and resorted to a clean basecoat and Quickshade soft tone.

Nice figures though.

Two in the same week? I'd better slow down or people will start to talk.

I present Hadrathus, with my first ever attempt at 'object source lighting'.

I'm currently halfway through that horrible Belit model, and hating every second of it... :-D

Looking good. Belit for me is all twisted, so I should get her replaced before I start on her.

Plodding on very slowly with the Conan game contents. Here is Belit:

Now, this is one of the worst models I've ever painted. I hate her. HATE!!! It's taken me an age, and almost put me off the entire project. Yet now she's finished (to a standard I can live with) I can finally look at the rest and think "well, none of you lot will be that bad, so bring it on..."  lol lol

Nice set of figures you are putting together. Are you playing on the game tiles or going 3D with it?

Game tiles, but purely due to space considerations. I just don't have room for yet another scenery set :)

First of all, simply stunning work. Feeling rather breathless...

You know, I've been considering picking up some of the Picts for my Conan project (love the look of 'em!). Have any of you tried painting those figs? Are they the same low quality, in terms of being difficult to paint, ill-defined detail, etc.?

Thanks for the kind words.

The big issue with the Conan game is that, in order to differentiate between heroes and 'monsters', at the last minute Monolith decided to make the heroes in white plastic, and the monsters in grey. This resulted in the heroes coming out rather 'soft' and lacking detail. Now, Monolith maintain that this is just a trick of the light due to the colour. Their more die-hard fans tow the party line. But it's nonsense - I've been painting miniatures for 25+ years, and those white plastic heroes are not as well cast as the grey plastic villains. Period.

So the answer to your question is: the Picts are actually very nice!  lol The hard grey plastic looks well detailed. I'm just painting up some of Belit's guards now, but afterwards I plan to start the Picts, and I'm quite looking forward to them.

Thanks very much for the reply, P! That's actually very good news, as I'm really only attracted to the bad chaps; I've already got some good Conan types by Bronze Age (in lovely metal too), and so intend to pick up only a selection of the figs by Monolith. By any chance have you seen or painted the mummies? Pulled by them as well.
