Anzacs from Gripping Beast
« on: 08 March 2009, 08:53:57 AM »
Hi Helen,
Hi Guys,

Iam seriously thinking of getting me these here :

http://www.grippingbeast.com/product.php?ItemID=1956

They are the Anzac starter Army Deal and make a brilliant starting force for T+T
All you need is in it.

So my question to you. Who of you has them, how are the sculpts would you recommend them ? From my point of you they are great.

Any help appreciated. Thanks !

Hi Björn,

Yes, I've some of the ANZACs. I've the officers, NCOs, characters and bombers and they are very good. A little bit of cleaning up and you are good to go. They are a delight to paint.

Hope that helps.

Helen
Best wishes,
Helen

Hi Björn,

obviously you missed the French guys with their stand at the Tactica?  ;)
They had some of the Woodbines with them.

I had a closer look on them, they are very nice - good sculpts and poses.
They are a little smaller than the Copplestone WW1 miniatures, though.

See you soon,
Ralf

Björn, Erkan has some of the Woodbine turks. I think they look a lot better in reality than on the Woodbine photographs but they are on the smaller side - I'd say they mix very good with Pulp Figures and are OK with Great War Miniatures, but not so good with Brigade, Renegade or even Copplestone. That's one of the reasons I haven't got me some to expand my ANZACs from Brigade.

Comparing them with Brigade I'm not sure which ones I'd prefer. The Woodbines have more poses, and the proportions look more natural, but the Brigade Minis overall look is more to my taste (some of the woodbines have rather odd anatomic proportions). I don't know how well the Woodbines are mixed in a blister, but with the poses available there should be some doubles, Brigade has doubles except in the command Blisters.

Woodbine used to be a lot more expensive, but with the pound so low the pricing is now nearly equal.
If you come for the king, you better not miss (Omar)
