Thought I'd give this it's own thread, as they're not really miniatures.
All of the pieces below are aquarium decorations and are sold as you see them. The Copplestone figure is for scale reference.
This temple is just perfect and has some lovely detail:
Some Egyptian scenery, fully textured on all sides:
Asian building/watermill. Slightly small but not so much that it won't work:
This one's too big really, but I'll find a use for it:
-
Very nice pieces
-
How much did they cost?
-
Various prices going from 7-8€ to a bit over 20€ for the really big pieces.
-
Company is Europet-Bernina, I think they're German and you can check out the catalog here: http://www.europet-bernina.com/company/downloads/pdf/1_Aqua_12-155.pdf

Cheers for that. 8)

Nice stuff, I particularly like the Egyptian pieces. :)
-
Some nice stuff great ideas as well...
-
Aquarium stuff can be qute usefull. There is a lot of greek ruins out there for aquarium as well.
-
Got a whole buynch of discounted Ziterdes trenches yesterday.
Unfortunately, our digi-cam plummeted to the ground as I got caught in a USB-cable, so I cannot show a pic

I bet, some of those corals could be used as alien vegetation
-
They have mangrove roots!!! Very useful for those tropcal swamps/river deltas!
-
For those of you stocking an Egyptian Tomb or a Museum of Antiquities, I picked up a cheap set of Egypt-themed scenic pieces yesterday ($7.99 USD).
They're from a company called Safari Ltd. and they come in a tall square plastic tube labelled "Ancient Egypt Toob" (sic).
http://safariltd.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=SL&Product_Code=699304
Some of the other items in the "Toobs" series might also be useful (Horses, Jungle Cats, Dinosaurs, etc.) although I'm not sure about the scale...
The plastic is a bit soft and bendy. This is only really a problem on the Anubis figure. I would probably break/cut him off at the legs and use him as a crumbling statue (appropriately painted, of course).

Bought myself a plastic toy castle today. 'Falcon Castle' form a company named Simba...
It's snap-together and set me back about €16 (Dkr 130).
It'll be fairly large when assembled, and is about right for 28 mm (could possibly be used for 30-40 mm as well).
Can be assembled in quite a few different ways, I think...

-
Exactly! :)
Edit: The 'minis' in the pic are in the neighbourhood of 40 mm (perhaps a little taller) to the eyes, but they look a bit big on the battlements.
-
Do you plan on painting it up?
-
I might. Cannot say when I'll get 'round to it, though...
-
I've had one for 2 years, i take it out and look at it sometimes, but it's a slow process to get it ready for the table
-
That should be a quick paint ot get it looking much better than out of the box. Even a spray cote of black, with a drybrush of grey will be a huge improvement, and could be done in a days time.
-
Bought that Egyptian column ruin seen in White Knights second picture from an aquarium and not scenery as such but my cornice pieces arrived today from Litko. 8)
-
Just got some lovely dry stone walls from Hornby.
They came really quick ( post free too ) and are perfect for 20mm gaming.
Don't have to paint them either.
-
Well, I didn't buy too many figures at Cold Wars (just some feathered dinosaurs from Jeff Valent and the new Vikings from Bronze Age), however, I did snag some great Acheson resin buildings. The painted ones were painted by Evil Bob's Painting service.
These will be used for the Broadsword Adventures games (including a playtest game I'll be running on the 27th.)

Some of the buildings are Dark Age saxon buildings, some are just fantasy pieces, but all of them work together well. You can see that I have primed the half-ruined tower. All the buildings have lift off roofs so you can use the interiors.
-
funny, most of my Cold Wars spending was also on terrain. I picked up some standing corn, a large wheatfield, resin gabions, and a superb tree construction kit, all from Battlefield Terrain Concepts. I did buy some Gripping Beast pigs and sheep and grabbed some hay and supply wagons from Old Glory. Now I just need to do a little construction and painting to have a nice little F&I / AWI farmstead for my Indians to raid.
-
Got a box of 60 various O Scale windows and doors with frames today. Not bad @$25.

@Rich:
Those are great. I particularly like that round stone hut. Very... S&S?
-
Got an order of army tents from Magister Militum. A bit disappointed with them really, not the quality, but the size.
BT008/9:
http://www.magistermilitum.com/prodtype.asp?PT_ID=803&strPageHistory=cat
I know it says 25mm, not 28, but I still somehow thought they'd be a bit bigger. They're still useable, I'll just have to be careful how I base them now, and see if I can raise them a couple of mm.
My own fault really. Glad they weren't expensive. :(
Actually, given that we once got seven people in a two man tent for the night, maybe they aren't such a bad size...
-
Got a delivery of Graupner deck details from Westbourne Model Center. Allow me a brief *Wooo!* since the brass stanchions, bollards, companionways and winches would have taken me ages to scratchbuild.
-
Í got a late christmaspresent from a friend that's been away for some time today GWs moonscape craters.
5 crater bases, some with 2 craters the smallest one is about 6" across, best thing they've made in ages..
-
Oh cool, I've been looking for something like those jousting tents. Very good for travelling bands. I'm wondering if there is a US distributor that you know of?
-
Hi Theomar, I don't know of one particularly, but MM are a distributor themselves, and the tents made by Battleground/Ian Weekly, so maybe something would come up if you googled for that?
That said, the p&p to the US doesn't seem unreasonable from MM - might be worth a punt. But they are definitely 25mm, not 28mm, remember!
-
I love going to the pet store you can pick up some nice looking terrian.nice buys white knight
-
A Firebase from Grand manner.
a "command" tent
2 sandbagged tents (only one in the firebase deal but i bought an extra)
a communications centre
a helipad, i might use that as a artillery pos instead
a gunposition with bunker
very nice stuff, worth the price if you, like me, don't buy much terrain.. =)
-

It looks like they are the only distributors.
If I can't figure out a way to make those myself, then I'll definately be picking these up.

I can actually add something to this - just got one of the old Gladiator Games Gladiatorial Arenas now produced by Terrain Warehouse.
This is for the forthcoming reissue of the MTS gladiator combat rules...
Mike
-
Sweet! Now you gotta find a whole bunch o seated spectators for that monster.
Brian
-
Yeah, and Russell Crowe :)
Looking very good Mike

Steve cast one up for me as a favour and to try out the moulds. Drop him an email as he is now casting them and should be adding it to the site. I think it is £80 for the whole arena as pictured...

Four an amazing 4 euros:

I used to have a car park just like that. :)
-
I had that when I was a wee monster. Many fond memories of that. :'(
-
Same here. I had a lot of fun assaulting that with plastic army men in my toddling days.
-
I think my folks still have one standing at their house as well, but I off course can't take that relic of my youth and paint it over, so I was happy to have found one cheaply.
got a few more pieces of scenery today though, for shaping up the city a bit more:

bought these on ebay for actually a quite decent prices from Fenris Games (http://stores.ebay.com/Fenris-Games (http://stores.ebay.com/Fenris-Games))
I actually bought 30 lantern poles, guess my minis don't like dark alleys lol
-
A Goethe and Schiller Statue from Faller (railway model company). Supposed to be 1:87, but it works well with 30mm minis too.
-
That's interesting. I find it hard to find suitable statue figures. Just using a 28mm or 1/35 figure and paint it marble or verdigris wont do the trick since they most often have to active poses. Statues need to look...well, statuesque.
-
It's a 1:87 Version of the one in Weimar
Wikipedia Entry (http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goethe-_und_Schiller-Denkmal)
The two statues are about 32 mm high without the base. It's allready painted, supplied with a pad (to use it as a paperweight) and did cost me 10 €urobucks.
-
14 Plasticville buildings for buildnig some suburbs next to my city :D
Damn, some of them were in a bad shape :'(
-
Old crow/Ainsty closed storefront, sacks and bales, a car wreck and some boxes with rifles, very nice stuff as always :)
-
Does homemade scenery count as "received"?
-
Does homemade scenery count as "received"?
I'd think so, new things are always interesting to see either built or bought.
-
I've just built a couple of houses for a little cairo action. Apart from that I'm busy working on scenery for a .45 campaign. Soory, so far I'm unable to work my camera. I'll try to understand this wonder of advanced technic when I have a little more time.
-
2 x 2 foot arctic terrain mat from Terrain Mat.
-
Some portable toilets, barrels, sandwichboards and firehydrants from fenris games (ebay seller)
very nice stufff, i'll also be shopping my bases there in the future:)
-
I picked up this 1/64th pig farm by ERTL today for $16.00 at the local Farm and Home.
Shown here with some 28mm minis mostly Void Militia.
The buildings come with their own bases and the roofs come up for a lightly detailed interior.
First thing I plan to use them for is my Serenity RPG campaign.
-
What's a gaming table without a pigfarm! :)
-
I received the old church with a square tower (by Amera) from the Gamers Guild. Ordered it and it arrived next morning :D :D. Well done Gamers Guild for efficiency. Next up the Ministry building by Amera.
Cheers
Fritzy
-
I use GW LOTR figures, glued on to a wdding cake pillar, sprayed black and drybrushed in copper metal. Some of their figures are quite statuesque, especially early Marines, too.
-
Just got these torture chamber bits for a scenery commission that I am building.
I'll be using the Iron Maiden and the rack. Will save the other bit for later.
-
Got the following from Old Crow:
- Mausoleum - roof comes off!
8 Headstones - they have very fine inscriptions... one of them says Kurt Cobain, "The worst crime is faking it"
- A High Cross (Celtic)
- 4 'tomb slabs'
- 2 Temple Dogs
- 2 small Anubis statues
Am preparing a graveyard for my Worldworks/MicroTactix paper city.....

I picked up this great stone idol in a pet shop recently. It hasn't been repainted, it's just as sold.

Thats a pretty decent piece Gav. Looking good for the Lost World games. :)

And we are going to be watching closely to see how that project progresses... :D
I'm going away to stay at a holiday house shortly, followed by a stay at my in-laws, and in connection with that I'll be restocking my supply of 5 mm foamboard (I'm totally out..) needed for 2 different projects:
- My Streets of Mayhem/MicroTactix city
- My upcoming Mean Streets pulp city project
Hopefully I'll be doing some work on the cemetery the last few days of my vacation...
-
I picked up this great stone idol in a pet shop recently.
I was looking at some pet shop stuff the other day as well. They had some interesting pieces. The problem is they sell for just as much as acquarium decoration as they do as table-top decoration.
-
If you go to big warehouse shops they often have have acquarium stuff dirt cheap...........
-
Just picked up for scenery parts, look for them on a church coming soon.

Six sets of the Heroscape "Ticalla Jungle" module:
These are simply cracking. And now, with a couple of set's worth of swamp terrain tiles from the "Swarm of the Marro" Heroscape master sets, I can put together an good-sized board for Belgian askaris and French tirailleurs to slog through en route to the Soudan!
Allen

How much is such a set?
-
http://www.hasbrotoyshop.com/ProductsByCategory.htm?CD=7&BR=746&ST=SO&ID=22062&PG=1
Some pretty nice pre-made trees!
-
How much is such a set?
Best price I found was $15.32 USD per set, in a bundle of three sets, from Wargamers Headquarters:
http://wargamersheadquarters.com/
But I'd be surprised if you can do that well in Europe. Some retailers are asking double that. One New Zealand auction is up to $35 NZ for a single set, which seems excessive.
Allen
-
With the current exchange-rates, it's probably cheaper to order from the US, anyway (even with the added shipping cost..). Just have to bypass the customs :?
-
No way to get those swamp tiles without buying a Swarm of Marro..?
What does the swamp tiles look like? EDIT: Saw them on the demo... not my cup of thea, but I do like the jungle pieces!
-
Auction lots of the swamp tiles show up on eBay, but the last lot (two Marro sets' worth) I saw went for so much, one might as well just have bought the two Marro sets! :o
I've just bought the entire sets on eBay, and am planning to hand over the figures to the kids. I will probably order a couple more from Wargamers HQ, as they have good prices.

Bought me a set of GW craters a week ago or so...

A bunch of Pardulon stuff. Small house and stables and lots and lots of boxes and stuff.

Will too.... as soon as my next paycheck arrives.... ;D

I received 40 trees from a guy on ebay mentioned here called "everydaygoodz". I went for the 5-6" trees which he sellt for about $25 with shipping to the US. About the only bad thing I can say about them is they are not based and only have one color of flocking in the foliage. For $0.62 per tree I am more than happy to base them and sprinkle on some comtrasting flock! I'll be going back to him for some trees in different sizes for a bit of variety in my forest.
Finally my poor Indian warbands have some cover!
-
Pack of Hagen Exoterra Croton medium Jungle Plant
Thanks for mentioning these. I Googled them, and so now have several packs on the way... o_o

I didn't see anything there that realy caught my eye.
But I was very happy with the transaction with Reptile World here in the US. Got four of the large packs of Hagen Exoterra Croton, Each pack was onnly $3.87 (far less than in retail pet outlets), and each pack provides 56 two-and-a-half to three-inch plants when snipped of the strands. 224 plants, which will be clustered 2-3 to a base, will cover a lot of ground, and I have some other fern-like plants to mix in. They look reasonably like bamboo clusters to me.
Allen
-
Well, I think that I'm going to get me some of the 'Sea-nery Giant asparagus Fern approx 90cm (3') tall' and 'Sea-nery Giant Bamboo approx 90cm (3') tall', and probably also the 'Sea-nery Giant Adiantum approx 90cm (3') tall' for similar purposes :) ... plus the same plant-mats that GW sold, but at 1/3 the price ;)
-
Green Griffin Tavern, treasure chests, boxes open & closed crates.
-
I today received a shipment from Antenocitis. I had misjudged the contents in each pack so I now sit with a lifetime supply of sheet plastic pantiles, crazy paving and coarse and random stone masonry. :) I also got a pack of Noch fall wild grass and some sheet tin.
-
I purchase a Forge World Coach House from Cptn Blood this weekend. The building is so big we had to have our solicitors involved in the transaction. Still, the market being what it is I got a fair price on it. Having seen his own beautiful completed version up close I fretted a bit as I unpacked the thing again last night to have another look... Thanks again, Richard!
-
Received from Fenris Games:
- The small stone bridge (ideal for many settings, including my LotR)
- Hero Basing set 5 (Egyptian Rubble, actually my second set for making encounter markers)
- and finally the runestone hero basing set (also for encounter/objective markers)
(I also got 4 5-man 25 mm squad bases, but they hardly count as terrain...??)
-
Several Buddhas, trash cans, a skip, a huge pile or creepers and other plants, and some guard towers.

Pleasure. Enjoy :D
Just to point out, that there is nowhere obvious to hang the inn sign, and the instructions are no help whatsoever... I drilled a hole, made a slot, and added a protruding balsa wood beam to the front of my inn, then hung the sign from that by fine chain...

Hope helpful ;)

Today, I picked up one of those GW Warhammer Chapels. I want to see if I can convert it into a decent fantasy building without all of the Sigmar and Skulls, which really don't appeal to me.

This last weekend from one of my gaming pals:
And this from www.lemaxstore.nl a couple of days ago:
Took them almost 2 months to deliver, and then there is one piece missing... (and I paid abot €10 for P&P). I'll try the British site next time :?
And the I got a big box with a whole bunch of scratch-built buildings and stuff from wayswatcher - lots of adobe-stuff for my now imminent Pulp-campaign, and a crab-droid, some cars, a european ruined building (WWW!!!).
Most of the buildings will need some work to get finished completely, but compared to starting out from scratch, this is a HUGE leap forward for my gaming :D
-
Looks just like the stuff I used to build our jungle. :)
The palm trees look great.
-
Did you order direct from Lemax? That's odd that it would take soooo long.

Did you order direct from Lemax? That's odd that it would take soooo long.
From a Dutch 'Lemaxstore'. They told me right away, that my order would be 'ordered for me' following Oct. 1st, but as we approached Halloween, and I had not heard anything, I started giving notice, and finally the stuff arrived Wednesday.
A good thing, I didn't need it for a Halloween display... ::)
Next time, I'll try my luck here:
http://www.lemaxland.co.uk/
EDIT: Then again... they do not seem to carry any of the stuff, I just got delivered... not yet, anyway... :?
-
I ordered lemax stuff through merchantoverstock.com and had pretty good luck, although that's on this side of the Atlantic.
-
Just picked up two of the Lemax docks at Michaels today for 50% off!

Love the trees.
The plastic plants in the first picture are the stuff I picked up at the local pet store. I've used it almost up by now. Time for a new shopping tour.

I'm going to order quite a bunch from Fins and Fins in the UK very soon... very few pet stores carry plastic plants here in DK....
Today I got, from Model Hobbies in the UK:
- Pegasus Museum Models Cactus #1 x2
- Pegasus Museum Models Cactus #2 x1
- Pegasus Museum Models Collection Gothic City Ruins 1 x1
-
Got Pegasus Museum Models Gothic City Building - Small set #2

Two 'Conflix' bnuildings - Guildmasters house and a barn. Look very good for ECW and the like.

I just picked up the GW battle mat I ordered through the friendly local. This has to be the best value they have ever offered! For $30 US you get a fully flocked 6' X 4' cloth mat. It seems very sturdy and crease-resistant, too.
-
Just got 2 new Hirst Arts moulds, gonna be making some bunkers now.. :D
-
Picked up this building in an xmas-clearout sale for 3-4 €. There were more in the appropriate scale, but I figured with all the work needed to remove the snow, wraiths, lighting,etc.. it wasn't worth it.
This one should be usable with minimal changes. I'm thinking middle eastern fantasy (hence the figure used for scale).
-
I want that! :-*
-
Just recieved some plastic terrain from Amera:
http://www.amera.co.uk/product.php?range=f
I bought some river sections and and the small thatched house as a test order as they are ridiculously cheap, and I'd heard good things. They all need flocked/painted etc, but for the price, its easier than cutting and filling and mucking about with plywood and foam.
The details on the house are a little shallow, but should still paint up ok.
The plastic is thin, but sturdy and reasonably flexible, so should stand a fair bit of punishment from gaming, storage and transport.
Nice fast service too. They'll be going on the "approved sellers" list. Think I'll get some of their hills, and maybe a waterfall at some point. :)

Aquarium stuff :D
Will have to paint over those 'algae', though... too green for the Egyptian desert, methinks....
-
And Abu Simbel, those statues are the same colour (a very light sandy hue) as the rock face they are sitting against, as they were carved out of it. Might want to bear that in mind if you're doing a repaint. Something that the aquarium people hadn't noticed.
Great find.

They are great Argonor and I like the algae, why not give it a dr brush so it looks more like dried grass etc

It was actually Hagen who found this stuff for me:
http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=9061.0
And Abu Simbel, those statues are the same colour (a very light sandy hue) as the rock face they are sitting against, as they were carved out of it.
I actually think that goes for the other statues as well - the rest of the construction would be made of the same sandstone as the figures.
It's not QUITE Abu Simbel, though, some details are very different.
-
Oh come on. Four seated Pharaohs carved into the rock, either side of an entrance way, and the second from the left has disintegrated? What other place could it be? They may not have done it right, but it's still Abu Simbel. :)

It is that sort of lax attitude to realism which gives wargamers a bad name! ;)

lol lol lol
It is of course a yet undiscovered temple deep in the western desert, crawling with scorpions, scarabs, and Pharaonic Curses. Just the place for a Pulp adventurer and his sidekicks ;)

An Egyptian house with some pots on a carpet 5 poultry and 3 goats.
-
Picked up two of these from a toystore at 11€ each. That's peanuts for a hard plastic set of this size. Of course, the walls are only textured on one side, so would need some work, but there are just so many uses for these parts (lone towers, tablespanning city walls, large or small castles, ...). Dimensions if built as shown are 70cm x 48cm... :D
(http://wk.frothersunite.com/misc/pics/castleset1.jpg)
I'm even tempted to go back and buy more. :)
-
I have one of those - also paid about the same amount IIRC.
Do you need the knights? I'd buy them for my daughters, if not. The eldest is practicing her painting skills on just those ;-)
-
Very cool, with a little work that could be fantastic. :)
-

No need for the knights, so we can work something out.
I have another similar castleset (I actually thought it was the same, but there are differences), that also has some knights in the same style (though the moulding is a bit less crisp on those) if you want them as well). :)
-
Sure - I'll send you PM :)
-
Any chance someone could link the pictures from photobucket, I'm having a problem with the Frothers links. :(
-
That's because the site is down again, apparently... :?
Until the pictures get back up, it's this one:

Thanks WK. If those knights are 54mm that was a hell of a bargain.
-
The knights are something like 45mm. The set looks an excellent size for 28mm. :D
I'll assemble one and take a picture with some 28mm figures.

I totally agree - my plan is to use mine as a Gondorian castle for LotR :D

Looks like the site is back up, so will try linking some pics with a quick build of one set and some 28mm figures (sorry for the bad lighting):

I picked up a set of those in a closing down sale in a toy store a few years ago. I love mine - it is versatile for wargaming, and came with some bendy plastic knights that I play with with my daughters :)

As mentioned in the Pulp section I got these pieces this weekend from Rustyrail:

Well not really received, pre-ordered and picked up from Grand Manner at Salute. Couldn't really show it in all its glory until it was painted.
Dave's stuff don't come cheap but it comes with quality
-
Thats very nice Phil. An appropriate description of the Grand Manner stuff. You pay for the quality. :)
-
Three small hills, one large hill and one 'Scenery Set' from Amera Plastic Mouldings. Excellent quality, much recommended.

Three rather nice Chinese buildings from Curtsey Miniatures , think they are to go with their 25mm Ancient Chinese range , but I will be using them for BofB . Come with seperate roofs, building and surrounding pavement , as there are variants of each of these you can mix and match to get more variety. Well finished and needed no work on them to get assembled . :)

A farm house from Perry for my FIW project, just need to work out what goes where and I am away.
On another note had a disaster when I dropped my mates Frontline/Redoubt FIW Fort walls and they broke. Contacted frontline to order the walls only whihc they agreed to. A while later I e-mailsed and as the gentleman said he had forgotten he sent me them for free :-* ---- now there is a Gentleman to be sure, top marks for Frontline

The Dapol HO scale Windmill and Country Tavern, small for 28mm but the footprint is handy and you can base them so they look taller.
A really nice barn from the Wills, railway scenery, same thing as the Dapol but much better quality.
A couple of old Hudson and Allen thatched houses.
Some precut card buildings which I suspect will defeat me in terms of construction. I bought them on a whim and then realised I'd had the same problem about 20 years ago. Same bloody kit too. :-[
The Italeri bridge. This thing is a monster. Actually I'm wondering where and when I'm ever going to use it. Goes together easily enough although to want to do a dry fit first. I'm really excited about the prospect of their new church building, which looks sensational. Oddly enough it's not listed on their web catalogue, yet they seem to be stocked in Europe.
-
Two multi part factories from PMC games, quite nice and ideal for lots of periods and games
-
A couple of scratchbuilt Chinese houses from Svennn. Tip top! just the thing for Monkey and Pigsy to get drunk in. :D

A trip to the "Aveve" (a pet/garden type store), procured the following terrain pieces:
Asian cottage (Brigade Games japanese fig for scale):

The cave is cool! Hope I find one like it for my Vietnam board!
-
Great stuff, you need a Tarzan for that treehouse now!
All the petstores round here are full of crap. We never have any of the good stuff. :(
-
Great stuff, you need a Tarzan for that treehouse now!
I was just thinking that half an hour ago. I have the foundry one in the leadpile, so no problem. ;)
-
But do you have Jane, Cheetah, Tantor and Captain D'Arnaud? It never ends, mate, never! ;)
-
AAAAAARGH! What have I done? :o
-
A trip to the pet store and to a "pound shop" equivalent yielded this loot:
Two more trees and two treestumps:
More aquarium plants (two mats, one ballshaped thingie, a soft brush for long grass, and various loose plants)
A (1/72) scale plane (how is this scenry you ask? well I've already started wrecking it to make a crashed plane jungle terrain piece for 28mm), some self-adhesive rolls of marble effect and some little foam balls as a lightweight (and easily cuttable) alternative to beads:

My bag o'Cthulhu arrived. They are even better than expected, not soft plastic but very hard, with crisp detail and hardly any visible mouldlines. ;D

3 PMC buildings from Mr Thunderchicken a while back forgot to mention them :D

Pegasus hobbies 1/72 farm houses, they look "ok" with 28's :D
&
Fenris games hazmat barrels, very nice stuff, as always.
-
OK, from now on, the dog does his own shopping or it'll be the ruin of me. The petstore had stocked up on trees and all manners of goodness in the aquarium section (maybe they're onto the fact that I keep buying the stuff) and I couldn't resist getting more for my jungle to be. There were more pieces that I reluctantly left behind.
More trees, a few of the types I already had and 4 more types.
And another cave section that works marvellously well with the smaller one I already had.
And that sphinx I didn't buy the previous times...

Those are *nice*, dubya-kay.
-
super tree's and stuff WK :-*
-
I REALLY need to visit a new pet shop now - the one where I buy all the rabbit food doesn't have aquarium products at all...
Marko

Someone should really get in touch with Europet Bernina and stock their stuff for wargaming purposes. ;D
-
agreed, my petstore doesnt even have stuff close to that :)

My gamestore (if I still had one) never had stuff close to that. lol

Not mine either. :?

Speaking of which, not entirely off topic, I was on my old street in Stockholm a couple of days ago and, lo and behold, a new store had opened called 'Material' (yes, that is 'Materials', in English). It carries all the stuff you need cut and packed in smaller and less costly portions. MDI, pink foam in 2x2 sheets, brass rod, dental plaster; you name it they had it. I tell you, I gaped. How many times have I not grumbled that I always had to drive to the suburbs with a car I didn't have and by quantities of which I needed maybe a quarter of.
-
While on holiday in Thailand I bought a nice Buddah statue which has a base of water lilies (I think) . It s made of resin and should look great repainted for my Vietnam project that I'm currently collecting .
I also found some of those aquarium mats but was with my mate and his lady so did'nt buy them at the time . Would you believe it I could'nt find them the next day when I went back to the store. >:(

Hammers, you lucky boy! You have stumbled on Aladdin's cave.
I've just made a similar discovery here in Blighty, in the shape of Hobbycraft Superstores, which up to now I had assumed were for pansies making DIY Christmas cards, quilting, ornamental knotwork, plastic flower arranging and other such sissy activities.
Having actually ventured into the huge branch in creepy Crawley this morning, I find the top floor almost entirely given over to modelling and art materials - and how! Balsa wood in every shape and size, full ranges of Flames of War (not that I do), GF9, Airfix, Tamiya, Woodland Senics, Hornby Scenics, GW, paints and brushes and materials of every brand and description... Glues, tools, modelling books - again, a veritable Aladdin's cave.
All they needed was a bar and I'd be in seventh heaven...
Worth a look if you're in the UK, although I don't know how well spread about their stores are...
-
I hate you all. :(
I have to mail order everything. Obviously there are no creative types anywhere north and west of Preston.

Ha

On that recommendation I have looked at their storefinder and found they have a branch in Woking, a fifteen minute drive from me. Thanks Captain :)

Well I hope I haven't sent you on a wild goose chase, Nick. The Crawley one is huge - like a B&Q for anoraks ;)
The Woking one might be a mere booth with none of the aforementioned goodies... Will be interested to hear how you get on!

4 x JTT Acacia trees = 1 x 6", 1 x 4" & 2 x 3". For the price they are OK but not startling material. One of our club lads is a whiz with scenery and I reckon he could make some money on the side if we could convince him to produce similar stuff.

I use the Bristol one when heading 'up country' the other thing to remember is when they have their sales the modelling stuff is included too!

I also use the Bristol one as a source for almost all the 20mm Italeri plastics I used for my 'Nam project.
It's double handy as my Wife can spend an age looking at watercolour stuff and I can have a good beard over the toys upstairs. :)

16 Jersey road barriers from Fenris games, very fast and friendly service and the scenery is absolutely excellent and at a good price. They have some nice little additions for Moderns, Sci Fi and fantasy worth a browse or two :D :-*

I always drop in a spend when I find one :D
We have had one in glasgow for a couple of years
I always drop in and send a fortune.
I find a lot of the useful stuff very expensive compared to a model shop.
The selection of bits and pieces is amazing though.
I was in the other night (open until 10pm, Glasgow fort) and spent £27 on a little bag (very little bag) of goodies.

Just got back from my local game convention, and my favorite scenery vendor, The Art of War Terrain, had these for sale. They are giant jungle trees. No canopy, as it would get in the way. just huge "rooty" trunks, 6-8" tall.

Those are cool, and they'd be easy to make - toilet paper or paper towel roll and cardboard, or PVC piping if you wanted something really, really solid.
I think I just discovered my next jungle scenery project! Thanks!

Picked these up in another petshop a week or 3 ago, but only now managed to put up some pictures. As always, this is aquarium stuff. They are massive (see the minis for scale reference) and the two of them set me back 50euros, but they are textured on all sides, incredibly detailed, prepainted, ready to use, and did I mention they were big? well worth the money.

The Egyptian scenery from petstores is very good.I have some of the smaller pieces and some of the Greek types too.

Wow! :-* I imagine just the Egyptian temple would go for around 50 if it was made and sold as wargames terrain.

By God, WK - that is fantastic!
I am minded to try to get one of those and construct a couple of terrain boards around it... ::)

I thought the smaller pieces they did were good, but this one blew me away and I knew I had to have it. Price was good too.
If you do get around to such a board, a reminder of the other ones they do:

They are not light, but they are by no means as heavy as they look. :)

Thanks :)

A very surprising package from Monolith designs:
2 x Adobes
2 x rubbled buildings
and the reason its surprising is because there was a host of other unordered bits included like walls, a well, pots and crates.
Superb service as they package arrived within a week with some extra gifts inside and all emails answered within an hour!
Thank you Monolith 8)

3 different lots of plastic plants, this is one of them - Fish Reptile Aquarium Garden Plastic Grass Mat x5 PP004 Ebay item 250498938372.
These look like seriously good scenery pieces as each item has 5 mats each about 8"/20 cm x 8"/20 cm with loads of individual plants on a spike. Each item worked out to be about $AUD 12 or so, so $AUD 2.50 per mat for around 81 individual plants on each mat. Loads of jungle floor!!

A Games Workshop's small hill.
I wanted to try the GW hills, because I had heard only good things about them so far. It really turned out to be a great product and I ended up ordering two modular hills as well.
Btw. shouldn't the modular hill be renamed into 2 modular hill quarters? By buying one you wont get a whole hill, only half a hill, which kind of upsets me. I don't want to have to read into the product details to find out that one set is only functial as edge or corner piece. Even there it isn't explained clearly, you have to interpret "or combine two modular hills to build one huge hill" first. That's not exactly what I call customer friendly, great hill or not.

Got some Old West furniture items from frontline: the saloon, hotel lobby, general store, bank, sheriff's office and newspaper editor sets and some stoves.
While the items are really nice, the quality of the castings is a bit poor and will require a lot of cleaning and filling before painting. :(

I had a wander around the local 99p shop at lunchtime today looking for the epoxy putty Silent Invader mentioned (http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=13328.60) when I found these:
I picked up 2 T-Rex, 2 Triceratops & 1 Stegasaurus. Cant go far wrong for 99p each. :D
(They also do a Velociraptor, but its totally out of scale for 28mm miniatures)
Possibly something for the occupants of my not-Nautilus (http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=13765.0) to discover.

Pleasantly surprised with the quality of the kit. There is lots of gorgeous, crisp detail everywhere. A lot of the more "extreme" decoration bits are optional and can be left off. So you can go for an all-out version or a more sober one (that's still going to be more fantasy/gothic than a more historical counterpart). There are also a number of alternative options for the decorative bits. The fencing and low walls are really useful and generic, only three skulls in the lot which can easily be removed if desired. I got this at a little less than retail price and with free shipping. With the different options, I think I might get a second set to build as a separate watchtower and chapel. The extra bits might also serve to dress up one of those plastic castle sets I have. ;)
Also got my scenery order from Total System Scenic. Unpainted and unassembled, they are dirt cheap. First impressions: detail on the windows is badly cast and overall the walls are cast a bit too tick (sometimes up to two mm) which means some work before they can be assembled. I hope the resin won't be too hard to work with. It's plastic(y) and not of the hard and brittle variety, so I'm hopefull.
I got the following from them:
Coaching inn:

Oh my god!!!!
I have received my scenery order today and it's, well bloody amazing!!!
Kerry offered me an additional accessory pack to go with the order (£25 for £60 worth of stuff so I said yes).
Can't believe how much I've got, the box was 2 and a half foot square, totally filled with resin scenery.

"soon to be scenery"
I just got a LOT of foamcore from a mate who's in artschool, varying thickness from 3 to 10mm
at least 4 square meters of stuff :-*
-
I received these a few weeks ago, but only now got a chance to put up some pics. All Snapdragon Studios resin scenery and all OOP as of this month. I've got more of them on order (ordered before the deadline) due over the next months when Kerry will have been able to get them all cast up.
I also took advantage of the £60 worth of stuff for £25 special offer, which was all the stuff on the right side of the first picture (with some more freebies because it was a large offer). Great stuff.
The whole lot, including an insert of the box with a 28mm for scale of the box... It was big and heavy.
One of the large pieces, with a sotr mini for scale. Lovely stuff:

Received my PMC order today and decided that I need you pics even though my camera takes bad pictures (I blame the camera, can't be my fault ;))

Excellent stuff, even if it took AGES to arrive - it seems my original order was lost in transit...

Nice mate, you went for the trench systems and bunkers, good call. Like what you got in your random. If you want to swop some sandbag emplacements for a fuel tank let me know. :D
-
Sorry, bud, I'm loving the fuel tanks and they're staying. ;)
-
I drooled over these resin pieces, on the Snapdragon site, and then in a moment of weakness I didn't order them, figuring that I could make my own for a damn sight less.
Don't get me wrong - the trade-off was between buying some gorgeous resin...and then not painting it, or making my own terrain....and then not painting it....
Look forward to seeing both WK and Vyper paint theirs up though.
:D
-
Well, this is only a fraction of it. After receiving these, I was so impressed I placed a really big order (in the nick of time), which Kerry said will take him a few months to fill. But I don't mind waiting a bit. It's just so very very good...
And I've given up the "I can build something like this for a fraction of the cost" argument because (a) I won't get around to it (b) In the end it'll still end up relatively expensive with all the bits I'd need to add to equal these resin pieces (c) I have so many other building and painting projects already...
Of course, all this is no garantee that I'll paint all of these, but if the worst comes to happen, I'm sure I can always sell them on a few years down the line. ;)
-
I know what you mean - and it is lovely stuff!
Despite my addiction to spending, i've also trying to clear room at the moment, for future shipbuilding, so the last thing I need is another box of resin.... lol

I was so very close to breaking too mate I must admit, there was so much more I could have bought, really liking those huge bunker complexes. My order was quite reserved in comparison, but very pleased with what I got. Might see if there's enough bits and pieces with Kerry still for another special offer pack, if it's more urban than battlefield.
Got the barricades all primed up ready for painting to go witht he zombie board. Probably progress on those tomorrow.
-

I think I could easily have bought 80% of the stuff on that site if I'd had the time and money.
As it is, I probably ended up ordering nearly half of his stuff. o_o

Well the only crack in my resolve at the time was another concrete gun emplacement, which I thought was quite reserved!

Not exactly received but rather rediscovered in my parents' garage. lol
I've been rummaging through some of the old boxes in my parents' garage because 15-20 years ago I had a couple hero-quest type boardgames and one of them was called the "village of fear" and came with a load of part plastic and part cardboard buildings à la mordheim. I wasn't expecting much of them since these things tend to look bigger and cooler in our childhood memories, but when I found and opened the box, I was pleasantly surprised. They are a VERY good size and nicely detailed (not as crisp as the current warhammer buildings, but then these are almost 20 years old). I'm planning to replace the cardboard walls with some nice, 3-dimensional new ones and they should look very good when done. I especially like the windmill bits. They're all depicting buildings in bad state, with holes in the roof, but they'll do for the more neglected parts of town.
The buildings:

The bourgmeisters residence:

The inn:

The windmill:
The ruins. The chimney and the decorative entrance will be scavenged for other, new buildings.
The set also had small flasks and a few pairs of boots with wings (magic items) in the proper scale.

Grand Manner spanish villa and Brigade spanish church and hostal for my Imboca (spanish Innsmouth) project.
-
I swapped an old Dapol church for this . I have no idea who makes it . It seems a mix of sizes as the front door looked suitable for 28mm , while the rest of it looks correct for 20mm which is what I wanted it for. I modified the door but didn't take a photo before the mod. :-[ I have now undercoated it so can't wait to add some paint.

Two very nice rock outcroppings from Kingsford Miniatures (http://www.kingsfordminiatures.org/) (who don't seem to advertise their scenery on the website, just their very nice 28mm Samurai, which I resisted). The scenery seems to be a convention-only thing; good thing I made it to one day of the local three-day "big" gaming convention.
No photos, but both are good sized (about 6-10" across) and solidly made, with the rocks being large pieces of landscaping bark, nicely painted, drybrushed and flocked on an irregular MDF base. Nothing I couldn't make myself, but for 2 for $10, a steal!
These might actually be the first two pieces of scenery I've ever bought in a table-ready state - my only additional work was a few spots of the flocking mix I use on most bases and other scenery, to subtly blend the new purchases into my existing homegrown terrain.
-
White Knight - did you know there were three games in that series, the Village of Fear was just part of a trilogy ?
Can't remember what was in the other games.
-
Yes I do know, though the other sets didn't have such juicy bits. :)
-
Oh, I don't know about that... the first one had a big piece that paints up as a jungle temple (and as soon as I have access to all of my gaming crap again, I *will* finish it up as a GWAR temple). Of course, on this side of the pond, the first one is the only one we saw.
-
(http://img534.imageshack.us/img534/4318/junglefoliage17feb10.jpg)
Scenery-making supplies, rather than finished scenery, but still cool enough to share.
Two big bags of plastic plant material, designed for reptile cages and such, destined for a much more interesting fate as more 28mm jungle terrain! Nice leafy stuff, which I was having trouble finding.
I'm going to tuck some into my existing sections of jungle terrain, then proceed to make new stuff soonish.
-
Those are nicer than the usual plastic junk found at, say, Michaels! Good score!

The pet store to the rescue. Just for bonus goodness, this particular pet store is right across the parking lot from our local Michael's Craft Stuporstore. So I can be a non-pet-owner in the petstore, then go be the only male customer in Michael's. :D
I seem to be on a bit of terrain-buying kick; I just bought a set of Pegasus stone walls, the 6" plastic fieldstone ones. More stone walls have been on my "things I should get around to making" list for ages, and I've finally done the math and realized the Pegasus ones are a good bargain!
Of course, I've already filed the mold lines off, washed them, and basecoated them black for a thorough proper repainting!
(image yanked from thewarstore.com, I'll do a quick illustrated repainting howto over on the Workshop forum this coming week...)

Wow, that's pretty marvellous. Is that how it came, or have you painted it at all? And, can you introduce me to your friends-and-relations please?

looks excellent, I think I need to visit a decent aquariumstore one of these days too

Nice one, that first picture looks like its straight off the page. Just needs something huge lurking in the shadows and a wee speech bubble of Hellboy saying "C'mon, ugly, I ain't gonna hurt ya..." lol

Found a weird little faux-ebony totem pole in a charity shop for 30p... it can join my Easter Island Head and Darth Sidious bust in my 'strange little statuettes I must do something with' collection!

An OoP (but new in box) Manorhouse Workshop two-story building with attached battlemented tower. It's a massive box of resin originally $160, but I snagged it on eBay for $47! ;D

A stack of ...well, tufts, you know that best invention since pre-sliced bread. These are Mininature, like Siflor and Noch also a German brand. I have not done a price comparison but they look very good. Also good to know there are alternatives since Antenociti is almost always out of stock.

Seem to be two different brands to me. It may be that the manufacturer is the same but they are definitely marketed through different channels.

I recently picked up some of Fredericus Rex's grass clumps and flowers from Michigan Toy Soldier Company here in the states. Very nice products and very reasonable prices. I think I paid about $6 for @80 clumpf of "long" tufts (6-8mm IIRC) and another $6 for 40-odd clumps of assorted flowers. My Hungarian colonel is enjoying the bouquet on his base, I can tell you!

Two sets of Osgiliath Ruins

Saw some of these in a model railroad store a few months ago. You're right they are the sliced bread of flocking. No more cutting up bits of sisal/ paint brush bristles or clumping field grass together. The rushes and lily pads are brilliant too.

Just make sure your neighbour/ boss doesn't see you pouring it into his fuel tank. Cheaper than sugar but equally effective. With 10kgs you should be able to take out every car on the street. ;)

Pegasus 1/72 (yeah, right..) Russian Farm houses. Snapped together 1 minute after arriving - parts weren't even on sprues :D
Pegasus Gothic City Building Small (!?) Set No. 1
Russian log houses are a little bit smallish - then again, they represent the houses of some really poor peasants... A bit beefy for 1:72/20 mm, I think, but when based very nice for 25/28 mm. They have lift-off roofs and details on the inner walls! 8)

One piece of gaming mat sample from Zuzzy Miniatures.
I think that I'll buy at least one 2x4 mat for some skirmishing :)

Lots of adobe compound walls and Hescoes from Old GLory (ex Brooks) ordered yesterday arrived this morning...excellent service

Got a big honking box of Monolith resin items today, including the 'free' Greek temple ruin. It took some time for it to arrive but the items are NICE! Nicenicenice! I love the sculpting style of Jim Bowen.

Good to know they are still around after some people posted about trouble getting hold of them.
I always mean to place another order at some point but keep getting sidetracked.

Sic, I placed my order in March, I believe... But again, that inconvenience (and that of slow reply to inquieries) is almost offset by how satisfied I am by the product. I am celebrating Christmas in July here, unwrapping the items... I've got to make myself a museum just like Operator5's.
EDIT: I wonder what kinda resin Steve is using? Polystone? It has very nice texture.

6 x Tablescape new Spanish buildings. Excellent value!
-
3 28mm PMC buildings, stone walls and barricades to suite ECW, Vendeean conflicts - nicely generic
-
A large piece of that formed cardboard stuff that most electrical goods are packaged with now. It's about 2' by 16" / 60cm by 40cm and will soon be a ruined temple, not just another thing cluttering up the loft, oh no.
-
A very nice small adobe courtyard from Mutineer miniatures + some Spanish buildings from Games of War

Wild West buildings - a Hotel, a barn and 2 stores, courtesy of uti long smile. Well packed and he went to a lot of trouble over finding the cheapest Air Mail postage, so many thanks.

An aquarium decorations temple. Many thanks to the previous posters bringing this stuff to my attention - especially White Knight for the photos in this very thread, and also the Prof with the swashbucking photos on this forum.

Being back on the job market has its benefits. Got to the local market for the first time in months and picked up a Fisher Price Play Village (minus the cars and parasol). Not my pic, my village is still in the boot and is in need of a good clean.

The doors are outscaled but not ridiculously so and the windows are perfect for snipers' vantage points. The steps are silly sized but also perfect for 28mm bases.
The shops don't have backs but can be placed back to back to create a shopping centre type affair.
-
They do look well scaled. If I'm not mistaken those figures in the shot are Seth Nash sculpts for TAG, at least they bear a striking resemblance to his sculpting style.

Never would have thought of that. Now I have to go scavenge my kids' toys >:D ;) lol

Seem to be two different brands to me. It may be that the manufacturer is the same but they are definitely marketed through different channels.
Silflor and Mininatur are the same company, same product etc and they are sold through the 'same channel'. "Silflor" just happens to be the trademark name to the product as sold in the USA and how it was first known. When the company split the "other chap" retained the trademark whilst the "mininatur" chap retained the production plant and everything else.
So Mininatur is the correct brandname within the EU and RoW, and the same stuff is known as "Silflor" in the USA and, sometimes, in the UK, but it all comes form the same single manufacturer and outlet in Germant. The "other guy" really has nothing to do with it anymore.
A stack of ...well, tufts, you know that best invention since pre-sliced bread. These are Mininature, like Siflor and Noch also a German brand. I have not done a price comparison but they look very good.
I have, none of the new competitor versions compare very well against Siflor - those that are cheaper are lower quality, some work out to be more expensive AND are worse quality.
If we find an alternative we would instantly stock it, so far nothing worthwhile has turned up tbh.
Also good to know there are alternatives since Antenociti is almost always out of stock.
It's not for lack of trying! Honest 'Guv.... it comes in, then it goes right out.
Unfortunately the manufacture rin Germany stills insists on producing-to-order, he doesnt hold any stock pre-boxed. So, if you are unlucky enough to put your order in at the same time as Scenery Express in the USA (and/or a host of other shops), then you can end up waiting as much as 3 months for new stock...and we have to pay in advance so... we really would rather do things another way....
It's very frustrating, especially for us as we are, essentially, breaking a monopoly and have to purchase through 3rd parties in other parts of the world - otherwise we would have to get supply through the UK "Distributor" who, essentially, doubles the prices as they have a monopoly on import.
Or, they did have until we kicked that particular door in. ;D He's tried a few times to find our source and, so far, failed.
Since that time even he has been forced to lower his prices, although they are still far above what they should be...(and nowehre near as good as ours)... but we live in fear of the day when they find out who is supplying us and the route is closed down. At which point, we have no doubts at all, he will ramp up his prices to 2x,3x,4x the proper retail price again.
its a bit of a sad story of gouging on his part to be honest - he was selling silflor at as much as 4 times the actual retail price for some time... you had no choice though unless you bought from abroad. The daft thing was that you could buy from abroad, have it shipped in and pay VAT and customs and still get it cheaper than the UK distributor was reatailing it...which was what really made me determined to break his monopoly.
I do know exactly how to produce it myself mind you, but we dont have the capital to invest in the machinery, If i did I would, without a second thought.
its all a bit of a a drama in fact :o

Well, we are all for a bit of drama over here, as long as it doesn't involved a televised reality show. Thanks for giving us the inside scoop, it helps knowing when ordering.
I disagree with you on one thing; there are alternatives. The Noch brand compares very well with Siflor/Mininatur and has the advantage of coming in a range of nuances from sun scorched to lush green in one single sheet. (Are they repackaged Mininature?)
-
no the Noch stuff is made by Noch (who own woodland scenics).
The advantage of the Noch tufts is, as you say, you get the variety of colours in the single pack, which you cant get with silflor... which is why silflor bought out the smaller packs so that you can buy multiple small packs rather than haivng to splash out on a bit pack for each colour.
I, personally, prefer the Silflor, but the Noch tufts have their place.
Per tuft though they are more expensive than silflor by a fair amount, and the Noch tufts are too exact and dont have enough fibres: the tuft base is too perfectly round and the fibres too few.. they would be a good competitor if they were around 1/2 the price.
The killer for me, personally, is the lack of fibre which leaves them looking very flimsy and artificial, the fibres also do not stand upright very well.
Two small packs of silflor are better than a set of Noch tufts though and, per tuft, work out considerable cheaper.
-
I have to agree. I'm deeply disappointed with the noch tufts.
next time i will stick to the lovely mininatur ones.

I bought 5 second hand assembled sections of bombed out 28mm WW2 buildings made of resin . I cannot remember the name of the maker but they were discontinued and then recently advertised on TMP as being sold by NorthStar (I think).
I will use them for both WW2 and for my Zombie games.

A massive box of nicely painted, weathered & detailed HO buildings (mostly DPM)... A set of Eric Hotz' roads will call this project 90% done before I even paint up my first mini!
Think we might have to do some 'Drive-in Movie' style monster gaming in the near future. Zombies & giant bugs come to mind. :-* :-*

Nice! Which project is that exactly Peabody? :?

Just got this little scenery kit this weekend at Imperial Hobbies. Perfect for my pulp project involving undead worshipping cultists.

Um.... Another one? ;D Originally I was looking at HO buildings for inspiration for a Hue board, but only a couple of models show any promise. But they are sooo cheap on eBay & hard to resist.
I've wanted to do a generic 30's to 50's urban table for a while and these buildings look to do the job pretty well. Zombie/monster gaming is an obvious choice, as is gangster stuff.
I asked Mr Hotz to do up my road order with all white markings for a 'retro' look.
Really like the sound of your undead cultist theme, B6. Hope to play that with you at some point!

I think it is the GW Fortified Manor with the surrounding fences, multiple uses as a versatile scenery piece. And a tallish tower to use as a Border tower for Border Reivers games.
-
It's not scenery per se, but since it is primarily used to hold my modelling materials, and basing stuff in particular, I thought I'd list it here: a container tower which I bought today from my local Hobbycraft store (UK) for 12.20 pounds (or something).
Rather well made, the "Stow&Go Quad!" is produced by a US company, New Phase Inc. (www.newphaseinc.com). The containers are a snug fit in the racks, the rack itself rotates on a solid-looking pintle. The only possible weak spot could be the hinges of the containers - those may come off with repeated opening and closing (it's just some plastic folded over), but since they close tight, you can just slip the tops on if it does break.
You get 24 containers (so it's 50p per container and some pennies for the rack). I'm rather happy with it and used it to sort my modelling materials, paritcularly the small ones, and the basing stuff.

Very nice find 8)

I want that. :)

Am trying to get my wife hooked on the idea of buying some of these.
My wife makes jewelry, and my kids have all sorts of beads and other small things...
Needless to say, my basing material could use one of those as well ;)

Anyhoo...
I snagged another Easter Island Head (McDonalds' Night at the Museum toy) from a charity shop for 30p (about 36c (Euro), 45c (US)... sorry, I don't really do other currencies). Lord knows what I'm going to do with it, but hey ho, you can't pass up a bargain like that.

Picked up the Daily Bugle building from a Spiderman playset someone was selling in its component pieces. Half way through priming it now.

From my brother, who made it as a birthday gift, a 5"x5" warehouse building to populate our 28mm pulp games. It's got a large open workspace, a bit of a loft, and an office in one corner. Very cool.
Pictures in the next few days; I'm housesitting and not on my usual computer...

From Michael's, courtesy of a 50% off coupon in a flier, six Woodland Scenics palm trees, ranging from 3-6 inches high. They're already based up on 1.25 inch washers and primed; I'll probably paint them up this afternoon...
Spending time looking after an ill relative, and in theory have lots of free time, but in practice have no concentration. Slopping paint at a few trees is about what I can manage! :?

oh those were nice, on the list they go :)
-
Shiny! Is the factory a multi-floor thing like the bank, or one solid block?
The Factory is a little different, it is a single piece shell (hollow), with no 'floors' as such. Maybe with very careful cutting a floor could be made.
Nicely enough, mine came with one of the 'Transformer Sheds' (I didn't know that was part of the deal); which has meant I had a look at the shed on top of the apartments, Bank and Fcatory, and they add some extra rooftop LOS blocking and relief - in other words more stuff to buy!

2 Paddy fields, 4 Rough Going (DBx), 2 packs Rocks, all 15mm from Miniature World Maker - one RG was a bonus for the delay in sending, so great service.

a couple of Italeri kits - scale is 1/72 and I have added a 28mm Black Tree Design and 1/72 Valiant GI for scale impressions
work with both scales - especially raised on a base (although the low stone house is pushing it with the 28mm)
Great kits, easy to make and paint with lift off roofs for placing figures inside - suit lots of periods too
The stone walls kit (not shown) are excellent value also

I picked up an abandoned factory by Ziterdes which I am very pleased with. It needed a touch of filler here and there but it is very good quality and value. I'll be off work for a while recovering from an OP so I should have plenty of time to paint it etc.
First item I've bought from Ziterdes direct and i can't fault them.

Finally customs or Homeland Security or whoever has finished playing with the Tabletop World building I ordered for Michael as a Christmas present. He got it today -- just in time, since he's almost done painting the guard tower or whatever they call it. It's the Merchant's house, and it looks really nice. I particularly like the chimney, which has a ton of character.
Gorgeous piece of scenery. I look forward to seeing it assembled and painted.

A trio of 28mm haystacks from "Table Top Scenery", a local-ish guy who comes out to our local convention (and some of the Vancouver ones; pretty sure he's from Van).
They're some sort of fake fur over a styrofoam core on an MDF base, very solid and gamerproof. I'm planning a small set of North American rural scenery, and these will fit in nicely.

Quick snapshot on my painting bench, so the colour balance isn't perfect but it'll do.
The haystacks are slightly over 2 inches tall; the bases are roughly 3 to 3.5 inches across. That's a Pulp Figures aviator on the left, and a Brigade Games henchman in fez on the right, both largish 28mm.
3 for $10, a fair price for the sort of detail/interesting cover that I'd like to build myself but will realistically never get around to! My only (minor) complaint is that the flock on the base is so green compared to the brown/tan dead straw colour of the haystacks; I have some yellower "dead grass" flock around somewhere that I'll probably partially reflock the bases with.
-
Put bowler hats on those and they'd be dead ringers of Cousin Itt! :)

That is a nice price, and they do look well. I think I agree with the comment about the base, but I'd be somewhat inclined to add just a hint of spring green to it on one side, to make it look like a formerly covered area is exposed and growing back.
Thank you for posting the picture.

Same here, repainted it looks awesome any advice on how you painted it? Probaly sprayed I guess!
I must undertake a quest to the dark kingdom of Attic! :D
-
any advice on how you painted it
Dabbed a spot here and a spot there with white PVA glue and threw some sand at it (it stops the figures sliding down the ramp). Spray painted black and then drybrushed with various shades of gray.
-
The effect you have achieved is stunning, like something a master modeller would have constructed but I guess that is what most LAFers seem to achieve when they put their minds and imaginations to it. ;D

Finally got my hands on the Italeri African House. This is a really impressive bit of kit. The box was so heavy, the guy in the shop asked if it was resin, so we broke it open there and then. No, all injection moulded plastic, unlike some of the earlier Italeri terrain that contains resin roofs. A lot of injected moulded plastic.
Goes together very well, although I was a bit slapdash in my construction. Nevermind , nothing a little white glue/ filler won't fix. Nominally 1:72, fits fairly well with my 28mm Eureka Afghans. The roof is detachable, not sure whether I will glue it in place or leave it detachable. I can see this getting a lot of use from Algiers to Kandahar.

Got a shitload of Amera terrain the other day. Really looking forward to painting and flocking them up, they look good for what they are: vacuformed plasticard hills, ruins and cliffs. Will post a review of sorts in the workbench when I've gotten around to paint some of it.

A visit to Toys R us got me these. I actually got more stuff than two of the kids.:)
First a happy house that I need to remove the face from(obviously). Should work as a building in any generic harbour.
Scale looks fine.
Then a warehouse. It is easy to deconstruct and/or simply remove the roof from.
I will see how other contructed warehouses and see what I can do. Probably need some interior, crates and other
warehousy stuff. Maybe a bit modern for Pulp purposes, but who cares.

These anthropomorphic concepts they are feeding the kids these days, just weird me out... "rectum which sings lullaby wouldn't surprise me..."
I think you'll find it was actually a story about a pet goat, rather than a lullaby. Still you have to admire his creators, he was remarkably lifelike.

Having just got back from 3 nights in LA and wanting to visit a Walmart to see if it is all they say, I was a bit disappointed. However, I did get a Pharaoh's head in the Aquarium section and as there was also a PETCO shop in the same complex, I just had to visit that. PETCO yielded a multi faceted Buddha head ornament as well as a Chinese gate and a temple, all suited to 28mm gaming. Cast in resin and pre-painted they will see action as scenery pieces for games to come.

The link above takes you to a fair number of additional pictures.
Lots of the wall sections lift off to reveal small caves underneath. Can't wait to set up a scenario using these boards. Probably their first blooding will be for D&D.
-
That's gorgeous! :-*
-
I am glad the new owners like it!
I was able to play one game on it (as is my custom, if possible, before I send a piece to a new home) and took on two young lads (11 and 13) who commanded Sci Fi troopers against the alien bugs I had lurking in the caves to attack them.
It stacks well, and doesn't weigh much, being all foamcore and pink board (so the gent in the wheelchair can have a square placed on his lap, if need be)
One possibility is to treat it not as a cavern but as a gorge, and place suitable trees (pines? spruce?) on the flat areas. I made a larger, one piece version some years ago - having just seen the first LOTR film - and used it both for a 'Journey to the Centre of the Earth' VSF convention game, and - with trees - as a Norwegian fjord for my WWII pulp game "Biggles defies the Swastika".
If anyone's interested in something similar, contact me at professorbellbuckle@yahoo.com. It's not as expensive as you might think - although Fedex charges a bit to beat it up and send it from New York to Texas!
-
That is an awesome, awesome piece of scenery!
Any chances of seeing a few more pics with some of the caves exposed?

No, those will do nicely! I just missed the link to your Photobucket account in your initial post.

Those caves look like the perfect place to hide the infamous leader of an international terrorist outfit.
Hang on, check that thought. :)

That's a lovely bit of scenery, very inspiring.

another italeri coastal bunker, one without the roof position :)

Some Ainsty wharves and jettys - very nice stuff and quick shipping

The twelve Sanctuary temples of Knights of the Zodiac, including the Pope`s palace and Athena`s statue, each about 5cm in height
-
A bit small to go with the figures though. ;)
-
Yush, it`s for a project `in the far away pipeline` with homewritten rules et all, the temples will serve as the `background scenery` in which sancturay will be rebuild, to have a Saint Seiya game in front off.
target time: 2013, as for 2012 I`ve written some easy play Gundam rules, which we will hopefully take to some conventions amd use the 1/144 Bandai model kits for models.

Sounds cool.
I need to paint some more of mine. :)

Tomsche, where are they from and what scale are they? o_o
-
They don`t have a real `scale` advertised, but they came from an ebay store in hong kong called `People4toy`.
http://cgi.benl.ebay.be/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200476852489
Judging by the doors, if you really want to use them in wargames on the table, I would estimate 10 or 6mm is suited best though.

Wargames Scenery:s statue plinth and some tiles for my Innsmouth square. :)

Picked up some very nice palm tree's from the bring and buy at the Durham show yesterday along with a pack of grave stones from the Rendra range.

Palm trees and gravestones? Tropical zombies or planning a tribute to Zé do Caixão?

The palm trees should prove usefull for lots of things including my Sea Demons.

Inspired by Tomsche, I went on ebay to hunt for a suitable Athena statue for my Saint Seiya figures.
The 'official' one is far too small and expensive for what it is, so I found this very nice resin one that seems to be based on the same real world statue that inspired the one pictured in the series, so it's perfect and suitably large to go with the figures.
Some really nice detail, hard to see due to the white colour:

wow, even better than the original one, more realistic and greek-like!
-
The Greeks, despite what we see today, used to paint their statues. Get to it! :D
-
Luckily, the one in the show is an ancient greek statue in present day, so no need to paint it.

Nothing received yet but with free shipping, both domestic and international, I'm certainly considering it!!!

Perfect for Saint Seiya boardgame!
Would anybody tell me more classic greek scenery?
-
Given the state of their economy I suspect you can buy the real thing for not much more than the postage on the Amera stuff you have. :)
-
Grand Manner do some, but it's pricey.
Grendel has a couple small pieces too.
Hirst arts has a couple moulds that have a greek/roman temple theme.
Main source for good value greek scenery is aquarium decorations though. Visit your fish and other pets shops.

Matakishi's Mythic Greek project reminded me I still needed to order a few items for my own plans in that direction. Including those are a set of aquarium decoration pieces from the excellent Europet Bernina (where I got all my jungle trees and Egyptian scenery).
For Mythic Greece, they make an acropolis in two sizes (I went for the XL one), a section of ruins with a Poseidon statue, one with an Aphrodite statue and a long one that combines both. I went with the separate ruin sections over the combined one as I can spread them out over the table this way.
This is the lot:
I was surprised when the box arrived how large and heavy it was, but I quickly understood when I started unpacking the items. First out of the box was the ruined Acropolis. Now I knew I went with the larger size, but I wasn't prepared for this (yes there's a 28mm figure in there (that Matakishi might recognise):
At first I thought it was too big, but then I remembered these things are bigger in real life than the scaled-down version we tend to put on the table. After comparing with some pictures of the real thing, I concluded it's *almost* big enough to be to scale.
Didn't find the figure? Well, ok, it's here:
View from the top (can you spot the figure?)
Next the Poseidon ruin. It's massive, in scale with the Acropolis and has some gorgeous detail (again, a figure included for scale).
Close-up of the statue, just beautiful:
The Aphrodite temple ruin was a bit of a shock in that it broke in several places in transit. :'(
I glued it back together, but will have to fill and touch up some small gaps. :(
Only a small setback, it still looks great.
And a close-up of the Aphrodite statue. Lovely detail. :-*
(http://wk.frothersunite.com/misc/pics/paphro2.jpg)
All in all not bad for some impressive terrainpievces that are ready to use straight out of the box, the paintjobs are just that good. They are bigger than I expected, but that should only add to the feeling that this is truly a world here Gods walk among men. 8)
-
Beautiful - only thing that bothers me a bit about them is the grey stonework - most often the whole structure of these things is built in marble?
I have some Egyptian pieces myself, and here the statues carved out of the rock for some reason are lighter in colour than the surronding rock... well, those little things... you can't have it all, and such pieces are too good to not use, anyway :)

150 SIKU 1:50 plastic pallets :D

A bunch of sandbag emplacements from the Commander for my Vietnam collection. :D

Ebay package arrived with a plastic tomb-type thing from the old Darkworld game, and lots of bits from Heroquest, though unfortunately several of the cardboard bits are pretty much ruined by damp.

That's a bummer.
I just got a still and a hut from Rusty Rail, a couple of Ziterdes statues, and a Ziterdes foam shipwreck from the closing sale of White Dragon (Danish web store, closing down because of GW-like competition from a small chain of brick-and-mortar stores that opened a webstore just to sell stuff cheaper (and below srp) online than the small webstores in DK). I don't like that kind of policy, but I got me a couple of cheap pieces... :?

Well this week, 15mm scenery from the scene, 28mm stuff from Scotia Grendel, Jed over at A's workship and 6mmphil for my halo table and from GZG. (again 15mm)

did you buy it online? because on hardware stores or other kind of "real" shop is impossible to find here... :-\

Try model railway stores, that's where I got mine.

Yay. my Arnica buildings turned up today, about 5 different types and some sidewalks. :-*
-
did you buy it online? because on hardware stores or other kind of "real" shop is impossible to find here... :-\
No, I went to the shop, as I had to get clogs, working gloves, and some gardening tools at a sale there, but it IS possible to buy it online. Both my wife and I work in Odense where the company has one of its stores, so it is easy to pick up some stuff from there (especially for my wife - 5 min. drive from her work).
One sheet is about 20x25.5cm, and doesn't weigh more than a sheet of thick paper.
http://www.harald-nyborg.dk/merinfo.asp?varenr=3270&n=30100
The site is in Danish, though. Price is about 3.5 Euros per sheet, then stamps, a bubble-envelope, and a backing sheet of cardboard would have to be added. Most of it could probably be salvaged from work... used envelope, and stuff...
Let me know if you require my help, and we'll work out how to do it - I only just found this material her in DK a couple of weeks ago. :)

Timecast 15mm Trenches (3 sets) for Vietnam but to be used for North Africa.
Timecast 10 mm Village accessories.

4 of Tehnolog's Castle Craft sets. The figures are pretty useless, but the castle parts are completely modular and you can extend the height and width of the towers and walls.

White Knight just got some - that's why I did the search :)
-
Most of the figures in the sets I got are heroic 28mm, except for some reason the gladiators, those are more like old true 25mm (kind of like Valiant plastics). Some are very bad, some look okay, but the thing that bothers me is they have very soft detail in places, especially when there is hair, fur or chainmail involved.
Not to be confused with the boxes of figures they sell that, as far as I can judge are 54mm.
-
White Knights news has rather taken the wind out of my sails :'( I've bought one of these which was a quarter the price of a GW Castle. I wouldn't mind another if I can get it for the same price. Very hard to put together and a bit under scale but its looking hopeful so far.

Darn, missed that until now :o
Good idea to use an existing set to create someting new. Actually a damn good idea, saves a lot of time thinking of materials to use, measuring angles, and stuff like that.
I think you should be able to use the Tehnolog stuff, too.

To be honest I am not sure how much work you save by using existing kits. Sure you save on texturing and basic shape but there's a lot of fiddly stuff to consider.
-
I think you should be able to use it. The brickwork won't be the same of course.

How come? He's just lamenting the quality of the minis, not the castle ???
I was just lamenting the the quantity of his collection which will make mine look very tiny.
-
You can still be the first to post pictures of your assembled version. :)
I will be using it for my Robin Hood project but as its a 1/72nd scale Castle it will take awhile to get it to a photo ready stage.
I've planned out how to make the walls taller and will need to get hold of some blue foam for that as well as to use for a base.
I think I can only make a quarter section of a Castle but would like another set to fill a whole table edge.
-
I always have lots of plans, but it may take ages before I get around to anything, so you can still get critical acclaim long before I have anything to show for besides some boxes of sprues. ;)

oops another 50 pounds spent on figures just ordered. ::)

15mm Viking Tent (Baueda) bought from Magister Militum.

Thanks for posting, but I seem to get a little teaser box (hey, there's going to be a picture here) and the page spins a few seconds and boom! It's your quote of my post asking about pics and your reply. No image, but a lovely patch of green spaces. Very frustrating, but I'll try looking at it later on the off chance that it's just the internet playing silly buggers for a while.

Thanks, Flip. They look like good, basic pieces that a non-carpentery sort of person would have built, had he needed beds but was too poor (or lived too far away from town) to get them made professionally. I wouldn't mind a couple of sets to furnish some of the not-in-a-town sorts of houses for gaming.

Well, got back from Crisis 2011 with two of those conflix foam-based timbered frame buildings, will be interested in seeing how they can turn out with a lick of paint. The featherlight weight is an added bonus.
Also got a wonderful three story building in the same style (though in wonderful crisp resin detail) from Pardulon. The friendly chap (which I assume to be Jens) even switched out some of the bits from another box to make up the set as he'd ran out of the one I wanted. 8)

They do look well scaled. If I'm not mistaken those figures in the shot are Seth Nash sculpts for TAG, at least they bear a striking resemblance to his sculpting style.
hahaha....hah...and only six years after I left the company too, you sir are a comic genius, and not at all a pathetic wanker....oh no, not you, with a wit like that :D
happy new year :)

Hopefully, you've turned your hand to something else in the intervening years then.
Happy New Year to you too.

Actually Seth, I deliberately deleted that post. It was mean spirited and I thought better of it. Perhaps you have reconsidered your own rather nasty PM to me? I'll take it as a heat of the moment thing.
Never mind. I'm sorry if I have offended you. As I said in reponse to your earlier message, I have nothing against you personally. I just consider the TAG modern ranges you happened to sculpt to be pretty piss poor. I can understand you having a higher opinion of their worth than mine. I can most certainly understand why you are apparently so thin-skinned about my rather lame Lego man gag. If I was an artist I'd hate for someone to keep drawing attention to my teenage doodles. Anyway as you pointed it out you did those a long time ago, no doubt your sculpting has improved immeasurably.
Do have a happy New Year and best wishes in your endeavours.
-
considering your nasty PM response I doubt that I will reconsider...Critique is a wonderful thing and I dont believe that I respond negativly to someone being constructive. You on the otther hand pull my name out of the blue and throw and insult....that is different I believe.
Appology accepted, perhaps in the future you will reconsider being spiteful for the sake of trying to impress a forum.
Happy new year to you too, I'm glad that we can move on having learned this valuable lesson.

I have been a paragon oof moderation in purchasing Christmas presents to myself this year, but I did indulge myself with one thing:
Best image I could get hold of I am afraid. I found it in a off-the-well-trodden-path where wee spent Christmas, one of these little ideosynchratic hobby shops which pop up now and then with a life expectancy of a glass hammer. It is a lovely little architectural kit from a Spanish company called Doums-kits. They make various buildings with scaled down real bricks, everything from English country houses to modern villas in various scales.
They are not cheap, mind, my set put me back about €50. The potential is great, especially if you have the hart too make a bombed out building.
Scales are a bit everywhere. This one is 1.50 which I expect to be fine with 28mm but there are other VERY attractive churches and roman constructs in 1:60 scale which I have my eyes on. One at a time though...
Have a look here:

I have just taken ownership of a 28mm scaled Hartenstein Hotel from an incredibly talented terrain scratchbuilding chum down here in deepest darkest Kent. It is beautiful, it makes me smile and it has finally moved me to start my Tamiya 1/48 King Tiger so I can game the Osterbeek perimeter. Hurrah.

Some trees from Ebay and a medieval chuch and european house from Magister Militum.
Little bit more clean up on the church than I'd hoped for, but still love it. :)
-
How is the size of those magister militum buildings?
-
They are both more on the 25mm scale rather than the 28mm, but I think it works ok. :)
Reasonably priced, aswell.
I can post a pic with a mini, if you want. :)
Also, I suppose people would have been a bit smaller in medieval times, so the scale might be fine. :)
-

Yes, but their buildings would still have been in scale with them. ;)

Matabele hut from Northstar and a Zulu hut (the medium sized one) from Empress.

Amongst my latest thrift store finds, three acacia-ish trees:
Trees have been repainted and bases flocked. Figures are Reaper and unknown. Elephant is a dollar-store find I got the same day. Rocks were with the trees (likely all from the same playset), also repainted.
-
Nice find, Burgundavia. :-*
-
I have several of those trees. They come in fairly common playsets of African animals.

Mine say Jasman on the bottom, which I gather is a fairly common brand of toy, but I cannot seem to find which pack they came out of. Any idea what other brand I might want to look for?
-
They have come in playsets that have changed labeling, but have kept pretty much the same content. The latest labeling was The Discovery Chanel Sets. That style of tree comes in the African animal sets. Dinosaurs usually have palm trees.

toy store across the street is selling out as they're calling it quits.
found this for €7.95
(http://i1217.photobucket.com/albums/dd388/zizi666/IMG_3533.jpg)
it's a 1/32 bio gas tank (for a toy farm) but I guess it will make a nice 28mm silo.
Unfortunatly the stair are all wrong, too narrow and the steps are too far apart (even if you wanted to lodge a base in between)
-
Easy fix on the stairs, just cut the outer side off and get some 'L' beam plasti-rod, this will give you a new step that will cover the gap you cut to the correct width. just reglue the rail edge once done and paint etc...
Nice find.

Well, I still have some L-beams in my scratchbuild box so that's ok.
The top of the stairs is a surface without details, so no loss there if I was to bridge that gap with styrene sheet.
Good call. Thanks for the input :)

I assume you mean, cut it in the middle of the steps, leave a gap in the middle to widen it and glue on the L-beam?

Yesterday I went to the official opening of the new location of a model shop here in Ghent.
Brought these OH kits from Kibri back with me :

Pylons will work also for 15mm and to a lesser extent for 28mm (though a bit small)
Transfos will certainly fit in a 28mm PA setting :)

The white peace of paper in the background is a sheet of A4 paper. I will mesure the peace this week and if I find the time I will make some photo's with miniatures.

Or look at the picture I posted much earlier in this thread. ;)

Love to have that piece as well!
Know of any online shop that may have it?

I can only advise you to check your local pet store. If they sell aquaria they might have some similar scenery.

I was really impressed with the quality and price of the scenery! I picked up a desert hill, and would have picked up more if they had some. Lovely stuff.

laser cut...resin? is that new?

As I understand it, they are resin casts of masters built using lasercut sections/detail.

Hello, I'm Lorenzo "maniachouse" Merchetto, owner by Manorhouse Workshop.
I have known your beautiful forum, for the many contacts I have received to my blog via this discussion.

thanks for your commente. I'm glad that my products do you like them also in the price ;)

Hi Poiter50,
in fact some of our products have higher average prices... but our items started about from 8 euro... to up to thousands of eruro.
yeah, the pieces are great, but the price is way too high. Tabletop world has the same prices!
thanks Sangennaru for your comment... very very useful for us Italians ...
I do not know how to thank you.
Regards, Lorenzo

ah, ok, so it's normal! I was quite curious about hybrid techniques! =)
BTW, their pieces are very nice! I'm not very convinced about a 11 euros chart made in lasercut: Isn't a resin-lead one cheaper and more detailed? Sometimes over-stressing a way of working could not be the best... :)
-
thanks Sangennaru for your comment... very very useful for us Italians ...
I do not know how to thank you.
It was pretty useful indeed. Actually I think that it's useful to compare prices for "similar" hobby products. Or do you think that our common nationality means that we support you without any criticism? ::)
Very nice stuff in your range Lorenzo but this is not the right attitude IMO.

Hi Faber, sorry But is not completely a matter of patriotism.
or a matter of comparing the costs...
in my catalogue find hundreds of items... with prices ranging from 8 euro to rise.
then I believe, is not possible to compare the availability and prices of my articles ...
with the availability and prices by TTW (for me of course very good articles)
simply this ... I'm sorry you have misunderstood. ;)
-
no matter Lorenzo. :) The misunderstood was based upon your comment.BTW I still think that a price comparison is possible as long as you and TTW sell "fantasy buildings". Obviously is not easy, a lot of things to consider but it's not a foolish activity :)
cheers

Your discourse is very good :)
but how can you compare a kit like this of these dimensions and detail, with a price of 160,00 euro. with promotional discount = 128,00 euro :o :
as can said that this item is very expensive... :o

or many other items in my catalogoue...
http://manorhouseworkshopmindstalkers.wordpress.com/manorhouse-workshop-catalogue/
Faber, you can say me as is possible a comparison?
of course, items can like it or not, is a matter of taste.
but to my opinion can not to be compared :)
of course this is just my thoughts.

-
well Lorenzo,
I've taken an item from TTW:
costs 113€ and I think is comparable to your tower.
Another style, another detailing but at the end, the same market sector: a fantasy tower. Here's the comparison: yours is very nice and at a good price, that from TTW is far more expensive (three times more) but bigger and better detailed. Someone will buy TTW tower, someone will buy yours. I'm not getting your point about. What's the matter in this reasoning? Comparison means "the considering of two things with regard to some characteristic that is common to both". Common charachteristic: 1) both are fantasy scenary 2) both are towers 3) both are for sale. Can't we discuss about their differences? :)
-
Hi Faber,
you said it... 3 times my price ... :) and this saying sangennaru ... equating my prices to those of the TTW.
only this... ;)
Faber, my design is totally Italian historian, that of TTW is fully specified Fantasy or put North European Fantasy...
one can not compare a design with the other.
in fantasy I can do what I want ...
in the historical style as mine instead no, I can not put things invented..,
however, each has its peculiarities.
Sangennaru has defined my high prices comparable to prices for TTW. which is not true as you have testified you.
why not put in relation my villa with 13 elements or my castle or the church and cloister ... or others that you can find in the images below ... to another product of TTW, of equal design, modularity and of cost ...

is all.
I hope I explained myself.

If it would be of interest for other users as well, why writing in a language most of us don't understand.
It's not necessary to do that discussion in private, maybe my point was wrong here, but I think it could be done somewhere else, in an own thread, and not under "Latest scenery received".
Just what I think :)

Well, to me it seems a good place to talk about scenary comparison and their prices. But this is opinable :)
About language: I did not write anything in italian and Lorenzo just translate in italian the text he wrote in english in the same post. You are not losing a word of this discussion mate :)
BTW Lorenzo, LAF's language is english. Better not to talk in italian. If you want to talk with me in italian you should send me a PM. :)

Unfortunately is does feel a little like a war of words between companies/individuals that might be best served through PM or a phone call? Either way I agree with Comsquare here, the tread is about all your lovely pieces and others that people have chosen to buy. I'd hate to see this turn into something it shouldn't.
And to bring it down to my level, my latest scenery is a pile of lovely driftwood picked up from one of our local beaches that will form the basis of a total fantastical Cthulhu Innsmouth dock pier.

Sorry to all you guys, i didn't meant to start such a flame with a simple consideration (which still i think is valid, as a customer-consideration, though), glad that everything went back to normal.
I wasn't aware that Maniachouse was in the forum, otherwise i'd probably avoid that comment. I'm used to comment products from many companies which are here on laf, apparently not all them have the same touchyness ::)
Anyway i agree, probably there should be (but probably it isn't necessary) another thread about it! =)
@Vyper: i envy you a lot. Here in the city is almost impossible to find driftwood, dry wood and expecially cork wood. =( And now i should need a lot of all three! ;)
But probably i'll go outside for a while and take them here! =)
Sometime is like we are all children, playing catching brunches on the beach. i wonder how the non-modelers look at us! ;)

Prices and language aside, we've all benefitted from some inspirational shots of some truly beautiful terrain. I only wish you guys would tackle some more typically baroque 17/18th C mediterranean architecture as well.

Well, internet and linguistic misunderstandings and all that aside, I'm very tempted by that villa, perhaps I would even consider getting two to play around with the bits, but I fear shipping from Italy to Belgium would be killer.

The great thing is, the roof consists of two pieces of resin that have to be glued together and to cover the seam/ gap, they've included little pieces of metal plating that you can bend and glue on top.

not bad at all! are the walls from a single piece casted?

I have a whole bunch of CRS buildings and walls. The buildings are single piece walls with removable roofs.
I'd like more... but they shut down for quite some time now. I think they were actually... too successful.
So, yes, I too am interested in knowing what is going on. Any information greatly appreciated.
-
@Poiter50 & Ray Rivers
I just recently heard of them so had no idea they had been out of operation. I ordered these early April and got them yesterday. On the sight right now it shows 11 days to receive non-painted orders and 18 days for painted.
@Sangennaru - Yes, the walls are one piece with floors. No assembly, with removable roofs like Ray said.

Purchased the new Warlord Ruined Hamlet at Campaign in Milton Keynes at the weekend - you get 3 of these which can be made up in different layouts so there is a lot of plastic to play with. £35 for the box of 3 bags of modular walls and components.
Once painted and based they will make a nice addition to the table and should suit a lot of periods.
For scale a 28mm Black Tree Design German peers over the ruined wall (actually the perspective makes the house look smaller than it really is).
Overall I would say I am very happy with the purchase. A nice bit of terrain makes all the difference on the tabletop.
UPDATE
Having made them all up and played around with figures inside the buildings I would say they are really 25mm scale and not 28mm. My Black Tree figures have to duck to get through the doors or look through the windows.
Valiant plastic figures look more in scale
I think the Warlord figures are more 25mm than 28mm so the scale would be suited to them (makes sense)
Still nice ruins though
UPDATE 2
Painted up 1 house (the wash is still wet!) - 2 more to go
withe Valiant 20mm for scale
(http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7213/7234228490_2183a2d35b_b.jpg)
and 28mm Black Tree GI's
(http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7214/7234228912_18666cc1cb_b.jpg)
....works with both scales but as I mentioned earlier a wee small for heroic 28mm - the models have to duck to look out the windows.
But 3 sets of these on the table with different builds will look quite impressive methinks

Some plasticville kits from ebay. Bloody customs had me cough up €16 (plus an extra €10 for the post office) on a total of $43 !!!
-
Whoa, great deal! :o
-
Could be better.
With P&P & customs total is about €100 :?
I thought I'd save some cash by buying several packs and combining them, but I think I'll go for seperate purchases and small packs with low value next time.
Too bad you can't find these kits here in Europe :'(

Will have to check what they're charging for P&P to the mainland.

Very nice. :)
-
It does have a rather big amount of air bubbles in it. I've filled some with greenstuff today, but I'll have to give it a second go as there are still many little holes remaining. Casting quality isn't as good as on the Ziterdes hardfoam scenery, but then we know GW has never worried much about that sort of thing.

Picked up two very nice terrain pieces from a pet shop in Northshields today. They are for my growing Jungle scenery collection. The shop also had a great castle piece in which would suit 10-15mm gaming.

Do post a pic please.
I'm always going over to the aquarium section of the pet shop to look for interesting flora, so I'm anxious to find out what's available in other places.

Nice ones. No indication of manufacturer?

I got rid of the lables and cant find them in the bin. Will get details when I go back for more.Looking closer at them they are the same piece just enlarged or shrunk.Still nice handy pieces if you can keep the pets away from them. Our cats tried to eat the grass stalks ;).

A load of Sarrisa Precision's Sci-Fi walkways and stairs to start a "Chemical Factory" project. Really nice and the slot together really well.
Once I get the money from being forced to sell my shares in my employers (a good deal really) I'll buy the pods and silos to make the rest of it.

An unplanned trip to the petstore resulted in some unplanned expenses, as it occurred to me that this aquarium stuff would be perfect for alien vegetation (Venus?):
The loot:

The biggest piece:

The two medium sized ones:

The smaller stuff. Some work better than others:

And a small jungleruin:

Very alien. I do sometimes wonder what the fish make of these "plants".
-
Nice !
the only thing I wouldn't find a use for is the starfish.
-
Yeah, I wasn't too sure about that one either. Too recognizable.
-
Painted stone-effect and used as some kind of starfish-centric fish cult altar? That's the best I could come up with.

This should go in the "Latest mini received" thread as well, as it contains miniatures too, but going by weight, the scenery bit outweighs it. It was a folly, but I can't really say I regret it: the Pixi LE metal and resin/ceramic 28mm Asterix village with all of the Gauls (including all the main characters and some anonymous villagers) and some animals and trees.
The Pixi figures are fully compatible with the Metal Magic range, the only (small) downside being that you have to strip them first as they come prepainted in enamels. The buildings can be repainted without the need for stripping first.
I will probably post some pictures over the weekend (the box is huge: 70cm x 65cm x 24xm !!), but here's what it looks like (remember this is all to 28mm scale):

:-* :-* :-* where did you find that one :o :o :o
-
Mine came from priceminister.fr, but sometimes they appear on ebay too (though usually they go for more money there). You should search for "Village Asterix Pixi" and be careful it is indeed the Pixi version and not the Atlas version as the latter is 15mm instead of 28mm and is often falsely listed as Pixi. To make sure, better compare to the pictures on pixifolies before committing: http://www.pixifolies.com/Collections/1813/uderzo-mini-village-asterix (http://www.pixifolies.com/Collections/1813/uderzo-mini-village-asterix)
There's another one on priceminister right now, but it's costly (though still cheaper than ebay prices):

thanx for the info, unfortunately i don't have that kind of money right now. great village though. can't wait to see you work your magic on it.

Well, you're welcome for a game if you travel the pond, but perhaps it's better to wait until I repainted them or at least until I painted some Romans to go up against them (have been slowly collecting Metal Magic and Pixi Romans, but you need lots of course). ;)

Interesting point, I might try moulding some using instant mould. :)
I do have these (part of the same range) to be used as casualty markers (they will look much better once the thick coat of paint is stripped and they are properly repainted):

Finally also some nice looking trees.

Some lovely little 15mm trees off ebay from ronny8664. Very nice.... monochrome base which I'd be flocking but great for the price.

Very alien. I do sometimes wonder what the fish make of these "plants".

Lasercut buildings from the kickstarter. I have to say that didn't take long to get everything (including some freebie extras).
there was a second copy of the main building included (along with a few other items) as part of one of the perks for reaching one of the stretch level.

Great looking Windmill from Tabletop World:
http://www.tabletop-world.com/Windmill.php (http://www.tabletop-world.com/Windmill.php)
-
That Tabletop World stuff is amazing. Probably the best buildings in production right now!
I just got my first order from Ainsty, a mix of resin bits and pieces that should be quick and fun to paint and useful on the tabletop.
Wrote up the quick review of the Ainsty stuff I ordered; it's over on the Warbard: http://www.warbard.ca/2012/12/21/an-ainsty-resin-order/ (http://www.warbard.ca/2012/12/21/an-ainsty-resin-order/)
Shortest possible tl;dr version: Good stuff, fast turnaround considering they must cast to order, will definitely order from Ainsty again!
-
Great review Wirelizard!

The two smallish (but still brilliant) cottages from Tabletop World, and a Medieval/fantasy building from Pardulon; from Stacy for Christmas.
I have that windmill on order!

2 first aid boxes, 1 Nuka-Cola and 1 Sunset Sarsaparilla machine from rivet Zone.
Fast delivery : 7 days from US to EU :)
Had to bring out the mototool to remove excess material that covered some details but all in all decent models.

One of these. Nominally HO scale and reduced to $20. Goes together in about 10 minutes flat. Built up the bottom of the wals with balsa and will clad with textured plastic sheet. New pantiles to replace roof. Now a good fit for 28mm figures. Mine is destined to be a drug baron's finca or maybe just the guest house on a cocaine king's estate but I suspect the building has considerably utility for a wide range of Iberian and latin themed projects including the SCW. Oh it's sold bt Heclan as a Spanish Station.
Will post some photos of the converted item when finished.

Via J&M Miniatures (http://j-m-miniatures.myshopify.com/), a small batch of useful Renedra bits and pieces. Two sets of mixed tents, two sets of barrels, and one gravestone set.
Oh, and a random and rather nice red suede dice bag, which I didn't order and assume was included as a thank you/Xmas/New Year's customer gift! It's a very nice dice bag, but it might wind up being re-gifted, as I already have a very nice dice bag I made myself as a teenager and have used for nearly 20 years of gaming at this point...
Edit to add: I wrote up a review of the Renedra Generics scenery stuff (http://www.warbard.ca/2013/01/15/renedra-generics-scenery-bits/) and posted it to Warbard.
-
Just this week i bought another piece of scenery from tabletop-buildings.com, a small Dutch outfit that provides the enthousiastic and descerning gamer with some excellent scenery/buildings.
My latest addition to a small but steadily growing collection of scenery is a medieval building that is modular and can be arranged in various ways. The picture shows my first effort and constructing a fantasy inn, called The limpin' Bone-fish.
-
Very nice!
-
Very nice!
And indeed it is! Mind you, this is only 3/5 of the whole package. The other 2/5 i did not use in making the building in this picture. When you do use all of it there are more possibilities and the building is of course larger.

4 Aetherworks Wild West buildings at Cancon 2013 bring & buy for $Aud 40.
-
Plantation mansion(?) and cottage nearly built - had some problems with extricating some parts but with careful use of scalpel prevailed.
I am replacing roofs with reinforced card as I will be tiling them whith Wild West Buildings paper shingles.
-
Three bases of handmade trees from TableTop Scenery, a company from Vancouver that was over here for our GottaCon 2013 convention this weekend.
Each base has two trees on it, each 5-7" tall. TableTop charges "$1 per inch per tree" so each base was about $10. They're made with the "bottlebrush" method with fibre branches covered in flock, and should be more than solid enough for gaming use. They add a nice height to the tabletop without being massively tall - TableTop makes trees up to 13-14" tall, but that just seems designed to catch a sleeve or elbow and topple onto the table during play!
-
Got a bundle of laser-cut MDF space explorer pods from Sarissa Precision at Vapnartak yesterday, and I must say on first inspection I am very impressed. They dry-fit together very easily and the painted examples on their stand looked fantastic. Should be a blast to make.
Also picked up some graveyard walls from Ainsty, with the etched brass gate section - mmmm, lovely.
-
Office site value pack from Laser Cut Card.
-
Russian Orthodox crosses custom cut by Archeotech (http://www.archeotech.co.uk), Andy of Terragenesis' new laser-cutting service.
Also two small rowboats from him, just for fun.
All neat stuff, going to knock up a small Russian graveyard to go alongside my onion-domed church.
-
Series of Rivers, Fords & dirt roads from Fat Franks Wargames Terrain, suit 20-28mm terrain. Latex so flexible enough to go over hill sides etc.
-
28mm Aetherworks House under construction. A really nice building to add to our LOTOW game tomorrow night. It basically just press fits together with some of the push out pieces providing for hardware/lumber to go on the floor inside. I was very impressed with turn around as I ordered it late last Tuesday (from Sydney surrounds) and the postie knocked on the door today (suburban Perth - the other side of the country).
-
Renedra gravestones 40 gravestones for less than 10 bucks. Mounted them on the Renedra bases that came with my ACW units. Now I need some flower pots by Busch to complete the cemetary.

Seven lasercut buildings from Sarissa Precision, six from their CityBlock bundle (all 6x6 two storey buildings, with one extra floor to make one of them a three-storey if needed) and the seventh from their new Victorian London range, just to change things up.
I've already assembled two of the CityBlock buildings and the Victorian one. They look great even unpainted, and with paint and bit of extra detailing should look even better!
-
Old West Heroic SmallPLUS Option 4 from Sarissa Precision and Dead Man's Hand Main Pre-painted Marshal's Office from Great Escape Games.
Not opened the bags yet, but looking rather grand. Fingers are itching to get started, but unfortunately, work beckons until the weekend!
Also very impressed with the speedy service, orders only went in at the weekend.
-
And today, the Old West Saloon Deluxe from Battle Flag arrived...
-
Grendel (also celtos buildings - same);
Warlord huts and warrior huts on ebay...for grand total of £1.04 and 99p plus £3.50 postage :D ;D
-
Love those Grendel buildings, so many goodies in that range. You'd think after almost 30 years there would be some expansion.
-
A Japanese bridge and large japanese house from Sarrisa Precision (very quick service). The bridge is excellent and will feature in my new Ronin game.
-
Ainsty order I placed on June 27th, for a game that took place a month ago. :-I
Also, UPS totally screwed up with their tracking codes so I couldn't check the status online. Didn't even know what I was going to receive. I called them but they didn't manage (or try much) to locate the package either. The only thing they could tell was "it will be delivered between 9:00 and 19:00". So I waited the whole sunny day at home...and got it at 18:40, missing one club meeting as well. :(
And now I'm too busy to do a thing on the items. Bah. :-[
-
The lovely Merchant's shop and water well from Tabletop World. And a set of supplies, because you can never really have too many carts, barrels and crates.
-
I recently recived a number of Japanese houses and a roadside temple from Oshiro Models. The castings are excellent, I highly recommend them to anyone who is thinking of scenery for Ronin or other Samurai games. I have painted half of them and will putting photos on the Other Wargamig board shortly.
-
Looking forward to seeing them :)
cheers

-
Just received a felt gaming mat plus 4 packs of fields (2x 6-15mm, 2x 20-28mm) from Hotz Mats.
Ordering this time around took a bit over 2 months just to get my email through and get confirmation on a discount mat, but when that was ok the confirmation and payment and shipping ws handled in less then 2 weeks (Canada > Netherlands)
Quality of the desert mat 45x72in with rock scatter on both sides is excellent, and 1 inch hexes on one side means I can use this for my 20mm Afghanistan as well as 1/600 air gaming. The fields are beauties, every time when I order a mat I tack some fields to the order just to increase my collection.
-
Looking forward to seeing them :)
cheers

Picked these up in China to go with my 45mm-ish Saint Seiya figures. They only cost me a fraction of what these things go for over here, so I'm happy with them.
The best one is the clock tower thing from the Sanctuary chapter. It comes with the fires to attach to the clockface symbolising the hours Athena has left to live, but I haven't fixed them in place yet as I want to see if I can't rig them with magnets.
Cheaper and less detailed (also slightly underscale, but it'll do for what it cost) is the pillar that holds Athena prisoner in the Poseidon chapter.
I got some more hobbyrelated stuff, but will post it later.

Not quite actual scenery but it will be used to cut scenic bases - Dremel Moto-saw
-
Picked up the old Citadel Graveyard and Orc camp at the Wargamer show today.
-
Schleich Acacia tree from a local toy store that was closing down, still cost about $AUD 55 but I have been lusting after one of these for some time. Shame they didn't have the Baobab.
-
Last stuff of that wretched Sedition Wars KS : the terrain pack. very nice models made out of decent plastic. Together with the resin Kara figure the only decent stuff from that KS :(
Also 20 Lionel O-scale telephone poles
-
Picked up the latest release from Games of War which is a resin Russian Building. It is for 15mm miniatures and comes pre-painted at £8.00.A very nice piece which should work for several genres.Alan is working on two more pieces at the moment. Also got the latest Gale Force Nine Battlefield in a box sets.
-
Some Armorcast carnivorous plants and some resin mushrooms from the Hot Lead flea market last weekend. Also some alien plants/objective markers which IIRC are by Secret Weapon games. (Whoever made them they are perfect for Tekumel)!
-

Please do, you won't be disappointed. In the past I've assembled one of their 28mm ruined houses for a friend. Fitting was 100% perfect. I only had to mix some paint to cover up the burnt wood on the sides, but they have created their own range of matching paints since.
-
I was looking for some western saloon tables (round - for poker games; ya' know the kind), but couldn't find some. Maybe I should leave a request over there... :)
-
ITAR's Workshop accessories arrived. Very nice. Probably the last 25+ mm terrain I will ever buy. It should fit well with my Adobe structures.
Gracias,

Very cool card model from the now long defunct Twenty First Century Games
I know it's cool because I already assembled one long time ago and I always wanted one for myself ever since.
Will fit in nice with their Missile Base, Control Tower and Data tower :D
-
Argh, I've wanted those since I first saw them... Well, I think I'll have to commandeer some paint buckets and add some gizmos to do the trick... :)
-
This particular kit has been on Ebay for years. Only now did I cave.
They do have some of the other kits like the Monorail (very cool piece), both parts to the (gigantic) Moon Base and the barricades (which I have) but isn't that interesting IMO.
Also some fantasy pieces.

Yep, that's what made me wait so long to order the cisterns, but... they are OOP and the artwork is IMO extremely cool.

One of the Russian buildings is not shown on the site but should be up soon.
Got the two Russian buildings for my Flames of War figures but they should work for other genres too including Fantasy which they will come in handy for.

A large box from Croatia. ???
I do so love getting boxes from Croatia. What all did you get?
-
Very nice.....that large box from Croatia. I think i will ask my mailman or woman why he...or she does not bring me any large box from............well....i don't give a **** where from.....as long as it's large. 8)
-
What's in the box - an ancient riddle that's been puzzling both Brad Pitt and Kermit the Frog.
The answer is...
Hamlet?

After assembling the 28mm cardmodel cisterns (as seen here : http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=68140.0 ) , Loungelizard told me he alsohad some of those kits stashed away somewhere.
The question wether I wanted to build 'em and keep 'em available in case we'd play 28mm Sci-Fi was ofcourse completely unnecessary ;D
So while not technicaly mine, I now have in my possesion :
another set of the cisterns, the Data Elaboration Center, the Detention Camp and a kit I had never seen before (which was a nice surprise because I thought Laertes and me had bought one of each ever made) : a Customs Bridge
:D :D :D
pics will follow in the future wars and/or PA board(s) when a kit gets completed.

Still waiting for mine... looks good though!
Make sure you got a sharp blade and a bottle of brush on super glue at hand.
Some parts do need trimming and I think I'll seal all pieces.
Just put together some small pieces (crates, bunk beds) and had to widen several slits.
Also, I started on the bunk beds and assembled them without sealing the pieces (only had super glue gel in tubes in the house) and when folding the upper bed part, I noticed the printed layer won't need much to come loose.
Went to the DIY and got myself a bottle of brush on glue. The rest of the pieces will get a dab before any folding.
-
Isn't PVA glue better for cardboard assembling? when it's cardboard it's rather fast to dry!

Aarrghh.. where's mine!!??!! lol

Yes, but I ain't talking assembly. The superglue is used on the sides of the pieces (the cuts). It sort of laminates 'em, strengthening the pieces and preventing the layers from coming apart.
BTW : there's not much glueing involved in assembly AFAIK. Most pieces just slide into each other.

I use superglue on everything. It's like the sriracha sauce of the hobby world. :D

ahh, i see!
Well... what about PVA-ing those too? I don't know which superglue you use, but mine is kinda expensive, and pva on cardboard is a all-round panacea!

Superglue! I use some stuff I get from hobby shops, supplied by PM Hansen in Canada, it's a purple bottle. Not cheap, not expensive. Just right ... lol

From North Star, a Cigar Box Battle Mat. Went for the Desert mat (http://www.northstarfigures.com/prod.php?prod=6995) without roads to make it more adaptable.
Very pleased with it. Excellent quality, creases disappear and takes objects underneath to form hills etc well.
Now torn over expanding the set with the Muddy Barren (http://www.northstarfigures.com/prod.php?prod=7160) mat too.

A trip to the flea-market yielded two items.
First, for 1 euro, this small dragon-turtle statue which will become a large dragon-turtle statue in a 28mm oriental garden:
Secondly, the find of the day, for a whopping 3 euro, this rather big (aquarium?) fantasy tower. While it might be a tad small for heroic scale, I think it would work well as a wizard's tower for my goblin or halfling wizards. Human and goblin figure for scale. Some parts of the construction are a bit crooked, which reinforces the idea of making it a goblin wizard tower. It's a bit "fairy tale" like, but with a different paintjob it should fit in. For €3 I'll find a use for it. :D

Kobblestone makes it, out of Canada. Really nice casting and fairly light. Plus it comes apart for easy storage. Very good value for your money

Do they have a distributioner in Europe?
Postage from abroad is quite prohibitive...

It doesn't look like Kobblestone has a European distributer. Here is their ordering information

Nice model. If postqage and psirce is prohibitive the photos are quite good inspiration on how to build a practical model yourself.

An Afghan compound for Fighting Season. First attachment is my concept courtesy of Osprey, second is the piece the makers came up with.

Whole bunch of Plasticville stuff that will become the remnants of a post-apocalyptic world.

Poiter50,
Who makes that Afghan compound? I haven't seen it before and it is really nice :-* :-*
LB
-
The Fabian Fund on Ebay. Normally they make 15 & 28mm Arab style buildings but I contacted them after buying some walls from them and sent them a scan of the Osprey compound pic and this what they came up with. I added a couple of walls to the order and they are not shown in this pic. Just 2 L shaped walls extra was all.

I picked this up in an independent Pet Shop - it's by a company called Rosewood - fortunately they're also available on Amazon (and a little cheaper, too!)
http://www.amazon.co.uk/462/dp/B002WSYCRA/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1445075377&sr=8-2&keywords=rosewood+temple
The base is hollow so it's pretty light, and there's a hole at the back (presumably for the fishies to hide in, or to put an air line in), but some creative basing can hide that easily enough. :)

Another unplanned trip to a sort of convenience store that has an ecclectic mix of things, yielded some fishtank ornaments that will make an interesting terrain piece.
Probably the best is this barrelshaped building that will make an interesting saloon for Malifaux or even in my Lucky Luke collection (might see if I can fit some old west saloon doors to the entrance) or could work with pirates too.

The others are more of those fluorescent anemones that I think make great alien plant life:
They will complement the ones I posted on here way back:
An unplanned trip to the petstore resulted in some unplanned expenses, as it occurred to me that this aquarium stuff would be perfect for alien vegetation (Venus?):

Had the first few buildings for my 1920's Egyptian project delivered last week and started on construction tonight :D Picked up the Desert Dwelling and 2 Storey Desert Dwelling from Plastcraft and 4Ground's Arab Village Compound from The Combat Company over here in Aus.
The wife helped me get started on the Plastcraft buildings tonight - so far, so good, nice and easy to assemble and look pretty good (if a little shiny) so far. The 4Ground model will have to wait until I've got a full day to dedicate to it, possibly Sunday afternoon if I don't get roped into too much gardening lol

White Knight - I'm jealous. Saw the full set of three fish tank ornaments for AUD15 each a few years ago. Pefect also for teddy bear cowboys. Didn't snap them up then and a week later they were all gone.

Got a pack of the Pegasus Hobbies rivers this week along with a pack of the boxes too.

From Warbases, their VBCW Church, two MDF trucks, and a batch of various bases for my ECW project.
The church is going to show up on a LOT of my tables, I can tell. It's a good size, big without overwhelming the table, and of such a universal design it'll do for everything from ECW through the 20th C in England or anywhere the British Empire showed up long enough to build churches.
I'm planning a bunch of extra details and touches on the church. The floor has already been flagstoned, I'm improving the tower top with extra detail, and there will be extra stone details and buttresses around the outside.

We were in a local shopping center (Molecule) and there was a pets section which turned out to be a massive treasure trove of fishtank ornaments compatible with 28mm. There were too many to buy them all, so I had to choose which ones to take and came away with these 3. Two will join my other similarly themed jungle terrain (all aquarium stuff), much of which I've posted before (here: (http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=3577.0), here: http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=3577.msg1106591#msg1106591 (http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=3577.msg1106591#msg1106591), here: http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=3577.msg516309#msg516309 (http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=3577.msg516309#msg516309), here: http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=3577.msg143353#msg143353 (http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=3577.msg143353#msg143353) and here: http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=3577.msg140411#msg140411 (http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=3577.msg140411#msg140411)

And one massive piece for fantasy. I'm a bit unsure about whether to keep or remove the static grass, but it's very well applied, so I might keep it (but dirty it up lots). It's not very noticeable due to the size, but there is a 28mm figure in there for scale. ;)(http://)

Indeed. The big stone head with surrrounding jungle is very nice and if i am correct there's even a couple of similar about. Possibly different makers/brands. Top stuff!-)

Cool, I don't live far away from there but haven't visitew since they refurbished the store, would you mind sharing the price as the pieces look great! Looks like I quoted the wrong pieces but meaning the ones from Molecule.
-
Prices depend on the model but tend to range from 20-25€ for the medium sized ones to 35-42€ for the big ones.
-
Those look great, but you have to wonder if someone who appears to hate fish should be designing scenery for them ??? ??? ???
Seriously, how traumatic is it for the poor fishies to be watched by a load of skulls all day. Granted, at least they're not seeing them anew every three seconds, as used to be thought, but still lol

I see them more as motivational sculptures - soon the human slavers will join you in the tank!

Sulaco Girders (mdf) and Ruined Jersey Barriers arrived from Fenris Games (http://fenrisgames.com/shop), ready for kit-bashing some Shadow War Armageddon scenery.
-
Some Fenris Games stone walls for my Mordheim table (link in sig if you are interested). Great detail and casting. I just wish the curved sections had a bit more curve. I will see what I can do with hot water later.

They look good (and some nice terrain/terrain boards on your blog).

Cigar Box Battle Mat from their latest KS, Caribbean Seas one side, the other is Medieval City.

Blotz buildings in the shape of
2 x Sleeping Hut
1 x Cooler / Jail
1 x Barracks Hut
They are originally by Ebob for the Great Escape Game that they produced. All 28mm mdf and they look very nice. Service to Oz was really quick, I am impressed. Now to base up all those extra guards with the original Ebob figures.
Oh, and work out colours for the various buildings.
-
The Italeri 1/72 railway station. It's actually perfect for 28mm. Makes a good general purpose civic building. The battle damage to the roofing is irritating and it would have been better if they had made a clean roof but hey, it's a nice model and a good basis for some scratchbuilding.
-
A Kibri 1/87 plastic church. I wanted a larger church suitable for Central Europe and one that would work with 28mm figures. The ‘Kirchen in Ramsau’ (kit no 39770) is pretty much ideal.
Obviously the doors are the giveaway to scale so a bit of modification has been made to the kit, including the replacement of the front one and the repositioning of an exterior shrine to hide one on the side.
It’s quite a detailed kit, not cheap but it is has been fun to make and really looks the buisiness. My only complaint is that the instructions could do with some clearer detail on things like the interior bells but overall I’m very happy.

Baueda 15 & 28mm Amphorae, vases and generic supplies, nice scenery additions/scatter. Very prompt service to Oz.

Two Sampan Barges and a River Launch from Ainsty Castings (http://ainstycastings.co.uk/index.php/cPath/48/osCsid/9c6dd6b73911761264713e82cde4ac1f).*
*although technically a vehicle I will be using them as scenery.

I see them more as motivational sculptures - soon the human slavers will join you in the tank!
lol ... :'(

Table side scenery - a New club logo'ed T-shirt with What a Tanker & TFL logos as well.

I just received a number of JR MIniatures resin 15mm ACW buildings from an online retailer. I am little disappointed in the casting; lots and lots of air bubbles and obscured detail :?
-
Another warning! I'm begining to think people don't post here as often as they should!
I've been on a quest to find cardboard terrain. So I've downloaded a bunch of stuff, mostly cod-medieval/fantasy, a little future-sci-fi, and one thing that I am fairly convinced will make a nice piece for VSF gaming (though whether on Mars or in Ruritania is anyone's guess...)
I will put up pics when I've made a few things, honestly.

Some time ago I bought a couple of these Rohan houses from Games Workshop...
They parts are very versatile and you can combine kits in a number of ways to produce not just a hovel, but a farm, smith, stables and even a longhouse. Unfortunately, at €34 per kit they are not exactly cheap; building a settlement will put you back with a pretty penny. On top of that, GW currently doesn't seem to not be able to keep up with demand
I got really hooked on building the sets I bought (which will end up a royal stud farm). By incredible good fortune got in contact with a chap who had given up on is expansive LotR plans and was selling his Laketown (3 buildings) and a Rohan Stronghold kits (six building kits, 2 wall and tower kits released as a bundle but no longer in the catalogue) with a considerable rebate.

This is going to be fun...

Cannot wait this is going to be good!

Only got the shipping notice yesterday from Fenris Games and yet here is my order, all the way to the Isle of Skye, the next day. Dragon's lair and dragon egg markers to become spider egg sacs for my Elder Scrolls games, plus various jars and urns, treasure chests and a tomb for barrow delves. Bags of flagstones destined to become floors of my Jacobite era croft houses (using previously bought Fenris Games' Rubble City walls). Overwhelmingly happy.
-
I have some of the Spider sets from Bad Squiddo.Very nice sets.Lots of good terrain elements for all sorts of games.
Still need to get the two new box sets for Elder Scrolls.

So this was a custom, mildly raging river for my Mountain Man project which I received recently. This was an IN PROGRESS shot he sent me. I'll have to snap some pics of the finished product. It's quite nice. This piece was made to suit my Kill Team size mat (22x30).
Anyway, it was made by a guy on Etsy who's agreed to try his hand at Rice Paddies next for my never ending Nam project. :D

Is there a link to the guy on Etsy? I have in mind some snow theatre roads for Norway.

Uh! Got pictures?

I received, a couple of weeks ago, 4 downtown Americana buildings, along with 2 garages, by mad Bob Miniatures. Got them from Badger Games here in the States. Pics of the completed buildings will go up on my Pulp thread when they are assembled and completed. That's because their first outings will be as part of my Matewan Battle scenario from the west Virginia Coal Mine wars in the first quarter of the 20th century.

A pair of Merchant houses by Conflix for my upcoming WotR games :)

Warcradle scenics omega walkways. It seems useful for modern and Sci-fi eras.
