Reaper has started a new kickstarter for their bones range. Some cool stuff in there as well. STOP TAKING MY MONEY KICKSTARTER!!
Oops here's the link http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1513061270/reaper-miniatures-bones-an-evolution-of-gaming-min

Disappointing to see them limit all the collectable items to US backers only and the store offer only available to US/Canada.
Shows what they think about gamers from the rest of the world.

They are Texans and proud about it... what have you expected? ;)
btw, they just limited the big projects to USA/Canada, the rest can be got when you include more for the shipping. They probably just know, that the rest of the world are not as nuts as the average Northern American.

Yes even though there is a UK site, it kind of puts you off when a company acts like that....
-
I just wish they would add more to the line other than Fantasy or at least stuff that could fit into other games easier...I would back them then. The deals are cool, I would love to meet the guy that pops $50k to them! hahahha

Postage on item's from America always seem high compared to elsewhere and that is just for a few packs of figures, a bit like with Ogre wasn't the shipping for that something crazy like $100? I imagine it's not them being offensive at least for the store part more just being realistic in that the two displays would make shipping.
Personally I am only really tempted by their dungeon attack pack, there are other bits that look good but I will pick them up individually. That said even the dungeon attack pack is a gamble for me as I am not so sure the pound will keep it's value with dollar at the moment including shipping it works out at £13 (or just under).
-
Laudable project, but they don't need my money to succeed at it and none of the perks really grab me. I'll just buy what Bones interest me afterward.

Trust me, overseas from UK and EU can painful depending....plus with the exchange rate and the US dollar weaker than both (mainly against the pound).

If I may - For most of those rewards it's because they are one-of-a-kind, and cannot be replaced if lost or damaged. This is an issue for us because nearly 10% of our overseas shipments get lost or damaged in customs or elsewhere along the way, with another 5% being returned to us because the destination country charged the recipient duties - which the consumer wrongfully assumed were included in the sale price.
I do not want the terrible situation where a consumer lays out several hundred USD for a one of a kind item, only to have it nicked at the border, or lost in red tape, and because it was a one of a kind item, there is no way we can make amends without refunding them, which defeats the purpose of the support.
And none of the International shipping options are $100 - the highest is $25 and that covers a pledge level that at this time includes 67 miniatures, and will be the one to which we add figures in with future Stretch goals.
-
I sprung for the dungeon attack pack too. Lots of little beasties sounds good to me. I'm quite liking this. and all the new minis in the bones range at the moment. Lots of minotaurs for little money = :-*
@reaperbryan. I think Oliver was referring to a different company on Kickstarter with the $100. I'm happy with the $5 postage option.
-
I would have liked to go for this but last time I ordered from reaper in US I got a package of figures worth £30 and got stung for tax of £5 plus a £12 royal mail handling charge. At least the sedition one took this into consideration up front.
-
From the moment, when i re-entered the hobby, and encountered Reaper miniatures i was totally taken by them (don't get any ideas now) as they are perfect for my kind ( and i think for any kind) of fantasy rpg or mniatures based gaming and collecting. I just love the way they look and think that the posturing and detail on many of them is just amazing. And yes, i am definitely a fan of Reaper miniatures.
Unfortunately it seems to be very difficult to get them overhere in Holland. There's is as far as i know no actual store that has them in it's inventory and only one one webshop where i order them. However from what i understood from the owner of the said webshop, not everything can be ordered, so my last order of about 12 miniatures was reduced significantly.
In an effort to solve my problem and perhaps that of many others here in the Olde World, i send Reaper an e-mail explaining the situation and asking what the possibilities are to become a retailer. The respons came, within a week, was helpfull as far as the starting up as a retailer was concerned but did not address the unsufficient availablillity of Reaper miniatures here in Europe.
As was already brought up, i too get the impression that Reaper is not really interested in customers outside of the North American continent and that realisation was partly, for me, a reason not to make a pledge.
-
I just buy from the Reaper store. Things arrive in good time, for exiting the US, and are well packaged with the odd freebie of paint thrown in too.
-
I use miniature heroes as my supplier UK-side.
I looked at this kickstarter and have decided to wait until the figures come out individually. I'm pretty picky with what I want and whilst I am interested in the giants and some of the other, later add ons I'm not really that bothere about some of the other troops types that I already posess.
-
This is the first kickstarter I've backed. The only reason I backed it was for the Urban Legend Sophie. I admit, I'm a sucker for naked ladies.
-
I just wish they would add more to the line other than Fantasy or at least stuff that could fit into other games easier...
Exactly. Chronoscope please!

I won't bump my pledge up just to get the extra add-ons. I'll just buy them later as well individually. I have a few of the miniatures in glorious lead already.
-

Big ditto here!
Pledged $60 and my eight year old daughter is going to get most of them. She should get some good practice before trying metal again.
Snitchy sends.
-
The problem with the bones line as I predict: They will end up costing exactly the same as the pewter mini on the other side of the pond. It was the same with the P65 line. Sad as it is, supporting this simply makes no sense from a European point of view.
Stupid Importers :'(
-
Pledged for 100$ ::)
... and they keep adding stuff to the (my) vampire level. So far I'm suppose to get 89 figures. That works out as just above a dollar per figures (including the "limited to Kickstarter Sophie") :D
-
I just went for the new paint sets too. I have to get rid of all my old Tamiya paints. They are a pain to get open all the time and dry out rather quickly. Good to see some things being opened up to everyone as well. Orcs coming up too.
-
I'm debating adding the paints to my original pledge. Need to get home to see what paints we already have before I can decide properly.
-
I have been watching this for a while. Not sure I will buy in as I don't like what I heard about the models being a soft plastic rather than a hard plastic.
That, and I don't like how the stretch goals mostly just add in options for you to buy stuff, and every once in a while it adds a few extra models. I liked how mantic did theirs - if you pledge enough, you get at least a few of every new model produced, and if you want to buy more, there is the option...
-
They are made of soft, rubbery plastic. They paint up well however and are good quality for the price. I painted 2 Bones figures this weekend and I’m really happy with the end results (if I can say so myself). The figures apparently took quite a beating while in the mail but I only had to immerge them in boiling water for a few second, bent them into place and cool them down under running water and they where good as new.
As for not adding “free” figures, I’ve pledged for 100$ and that was for 67 figures… I haven’t add a single cent (so far) to my pledge and I’m now expecting 93 figures. Yes they are options that you need to pay more to get but they do add “free” figures.
-

There are import duties charged on items shipped overseas. This is a matter of English law, not Reaper's. Why are you mad at us for this, again?

You are correct, we are under-carried by Euorpean retailers. How to address this? Complain to your stores and make them buy us. We will happly stock any retailer that wishes, but cannot force stores to accept our product.

Every Once in a While? please count the stretch goals by level. More than 50% of the levels have added FREE items -- 9 out of our currently announced 16 Stretch goals, in fact. That's not every once in a while. In 16 stretch goals we have almost DOUBLED the original pledge package, and I can personally guarantee you that there will continue to be free addons every other level and more for the remainder of the project. MOSTLY add-in options? Yes, we have a lot of those, but the options are OPTIONAL, which means that the basic $100 package is STILL almost doubled in size even if you don't get them. Don't want em, that's fine, you don't have to. Not like a few other Kickstarters I've seen that are board games, where if you don't shell out the extra $35 you now no longer have the complete game. Not only that, I've got no single figures for $35, like some other projects had. Everything we're offering is $15 or less - and those get you multiples! Apparently there's no pleasing. And ok, sure, like I said, we have a lot of Optional buy ins. But this is a FUNDRAISING DRIVE. It's not a yard Sale or a junk shop. We are trying to raise the funds to pay for these molds and tooling, along with production and shipping (and you really think $25USD will cover shipping for an individual who buys everything?) If $15 for two dragons is too much, I completely understand.
I'm sorry for my rudeness, but It's hard to not get upset when I'm seeing things that are just patently untrue (every once in a while? 9/16 is every once in a while????).
re: Mantic's KS: 1) We're not them, we have our own project, and we're currently (as I post this) $1000 less than they raised, and have 600 more backers than they had, and we still have 15 days to go before the end.. I'm afraid that the numbers suggest our model is at least "adequate". Also, we have no "end game". I have enough stretch goals planned out to carry us to over 4 Million raised - and we don;t expect to clear more than the $700k-1.1 million that Kicktraq is predicting. But we're ready for anything. I cannot create a pledge level that includes all future stretch goal items for a fixed value, and have it look like a good deal on day one, while not costing me a more to fulfill than i raised on day 33 if we don't know where this will end. If I only had 15 goals, sure, I could calculate that. But right now, to get every model (not including the paint and cases) It's $100 for the Vampire level, +$55 for the buy ins. I could say, sure, let's make the Level cost $150, it's a good value, and people will love it. And then the next buy in comes along. And the next. If this goes to a million, there could be $40-50 more buy in models. Now it's stupid not to take that level. and soon, my cost to fulfill your $150 pledge exceeds $150, and I lose a fortune because I raised a million. Ok, so I bump that. It's a $200 level. Still a slight savings, and you're getting everything. Except that that's only a saving in 2 weeks, and even then only if we make a million. If this ends at 600,00, it's clearly and overpriced choice. See my dilemma?
I cannot address the material. We prefer the softer plastic, because of the sheer number of models we have by other companies that have been dropped during a game and broken, and with the harder plastics, once bent or broken, never quite looks correct again. That is our personal preference, and why we chose that route for our product.
And yeah, I know I'm not making friends with this post. I'm grumpy in the mornings.

Exactly. Chronoscope please!
Patience. ;)
-
Ok, being patient, but I'm ready to kick, punch and bodyslamstart Chronoscope. lol

This doesn't seem to be the case on the Bones models here in the UK. The savings are most noticeable on the larger figures (I assume because packaging and other sunk costs are the same or mostly the same no matter how big the model is), with big ogre-type models coming in at under £2.50, while the humanoid scale ones are around £1.10-1.30, which is pretty well in line with most manufacturers.
So, I mean, the rest of it I don't know about, but as far as price goes, there is definitely a difference between Bones and metal, at least at the moment.

Once again, I think that the material they use is fine. It's kind of halfway between hard plastic and the soft one used by ESCI for example. And, as I said earlier, they do paint up nicely...

Any chance of some big monsters being available to anyone who has pledged? eg. $1 level can then buy a big dragon or something? :)

I'm meaning more like the Orc deal they already have going and the paints which I'm already getting. I have about half of the vampire level minis in glorious white metal and don't see the need in getting more in plastic especially when they are more heroic type characters you would only need one of. I want some of those giants but will have to wait for them to be released rather than purchasing them through the bones as I won't up my pledge :)

I did a review of the Bones line on my blog. To sum it up, I threw it 20+ feet without damage, painted it without primer, and was able to bend limbs to ease painting without damage. At the price point, this stuff is great, especially if you have kids that like to hobby with you.

We are working on a solution for that. It may not be ready until closer to project close.
-
Sounds good. even if it's a few dollars more than for the vampire or undertaker levels. I'm sure it would bump up sales, especially at the end. Thanks for the speedy reply.

Look like there’s going to be some Chronoscope figures somewhere down the line ;)

I am not mad at Reaper for the charges, the fact that i was initially unaware of the charges previously was my fault; at the time I was after a few figs but saw that reaper were offering free P&P worldwide if you spent £30 or more hence I upped my purchase and it was rather annoying to find that a significant extra £16 approx charge was dumped on top but as I said not Reapers fault as i should have read your small print more carefully.
I mentioned it in case others in UK were unaware of the issue. The vampire level would cost approx £15.93 in tax plus £8 "handling fee" from royal mail if they know about it in advance from what I read.
My comparison with the Sedition kickstarter was that they took this fact into consideration and included the tax issue within their P&P charge (also $25 the same as your P&P amount), which takes the worry out of the equation.

Every once in a while was more a figure of speech, sorry if I upset you with that. I am aware that you keep bumping up the figures included in the basic level, which does make it a better deal over time. But you are also taking folk's money and then they have to wait for the new models to be produced/molded so that's why people always demand better deals in general.
re: Mantic's KS: 1) We're not them, we have our own project, and we're currently (as I post this) $1000 less than they raised, and have 600 more backers than they had, and we still have 15 days to go before the end.. I can understand this, and make no claim that I am well informed on the financial aspects of your company or the costs of this venture. I don't expect you to be Mantic, but was merely pointing out what I liked about their project. I can see how it would be easier for them to give out more 'free models' since their goals were to mass produce units of the same figures rather than multiple unique miniatures.
I cannot address the material. We prefer the softer plastic, because of the sheer number of models we have by other companies that have been dropped during a game and broken, and with the harder plastics, once bent or broken, never quite looks correct again. I can't really fault your for your choice of material, but as the consumer I will let that dictate my preference. I know many many people seem to like it, so that is good for them and good for you.
And yeah, I know I'm not making friends with this post. I'm grumpy in the mornings.
Folks here tend to be an understanding bunch, and mornings are always a hassle. I am enjoying watching your success, but would not have been joining in your campaign regardless of anything you had or hadn't posted. Mostly because of my unpainted mountain and that I don't have a direct use for most of the miniatures as the style and genre is different than my preferences. lol
-
Has anyone here been familiar with Heroscape miniatuers? Is that the sort of plastic that these will be made of? Perhaps similar to the Dungeons and Dragons miniatures?
I was thinking of jumping in on this as the Vampire level gets a lot of miniatures, but I'm not sure with the type of bendy plastic mentioned.
-

As a fellow Dutchman I'll chime in.
Easiest way: order directly from Reaper Miniatures. I have done this before and it works very well. They offer free shipping when you order at least 35EUR and here in Holland customs rarely is an issue. I get international parcels almost on a weekly basis and for most of them I should pay custom fees...but I never have to do so. Never! Okay, I understand that is taking a chance as you may get charged. But customs here in Holland is extremely relaxed.
Other options are indeed Miniature Heroes, Miniaturicum or Battlefield Berlin. Three excellent webshops and they deliver fast at good rates. It may take a while before they have all the stock you want, but it works very well.
-
Pity it's state-side as having been got by customs on all of my overseas purchases to date here in Denmark, I don't dare try. Now if the value added tax was deducted in one country or the other, that'd be different. But as it stand it's just far to costly, especially when you order from good law abiding companies who state the correct price and contents.

Here in Spain large (physical size) or commercial goods marked for import used to get checked, smaller domestic packets did not. However the recent economic crisis has led to the introduction of new lower levels of "tax free" imports and everything is getting checked. It was seen as an obvious quick win for a cash strapped government.
The system is the same as the UK, goods are assessed based on content type and full value (INCLUDING the shipping cost) and if a tax is payable the Post Office collect it from the recipient with the ubiquitous extra "handling and administration" charges. Applies to post from all countries outside Europe.
-
Seriously... are you letting worries of tax stop you from getting in on this? Reaper have clearly stated (read the FAQ) that any parcel's value will be declared as a single unit of the most expensive pledge or option in the parcel. Thus, a package with 3 vampire levels and extras for another $300 would still just be declared as a $100 shipment. Join up with mates and do a joint pledge and split the customs fees.
To get a vampire level worth of figs to Sweden, it would cost me $125. That's 93 cents per mini as of now (133 minis, not counting Sophie). Say I get busted by customs. That's another $25 on top of that in tax, and about $15 in fees. So in total $165. Oh noes. $1,2 per mini... including taxes and shipping. And I'm not even counting what will be added in the next nine days. NINE days. We've breached two levels today only. With the addition of the awesome "Pathifnder" (sic!) gobbos, I'm sure more will take the plunge. We'll also see more people (like me) adding options the last day or so as they're waiting to see exactly what will be available in the end.
Considering how EXTREMELY cheap the shipping option is compared to other kickstarters, I'm surprised people are actually moaning about possible customs fees.
Yeah, I'm a bit excited me. And I don't really like the Reaper aesthetics to begin with! It's just too good a deal to pass up on! =D
-
It looks like a great deal and I've seriously considered it, but two things are stopping me.
1. I'm redonkulously broke
2. More fantasy-oriented models than I need.
I have a few of the first run Bones figures and I think they're great though, so for those of you who can afford to, and can make use of them, I say get in on this deal!
-
I was not going to invest until today when I saw a post on a local Yahoo group that I am on for my state for gaming. I saw now that they have Chronoscope, new monsters, swarms and other very cool stuff out including up charges to get the Mythos stuff as well for 10 more bucks! I am now going to ride the lighting to Friday (the last day) and pledge at the last minute to get my goodies!
-
I hopped on board myself. I'm not sure why, as I have hundreds of figures in unpainted limbo... I guess it just seems too good to miss.
I don't really do fantasy RPG anymore, so I haven't looked at Reaper's offerings much over the last few years. Seems like there is some interesting stuff in there. For some reason I'm really interested in painting the six armed Marilith demon :P
-
I'll be 'in' too, just waiting for another few days before taking the plunge.
-
Just based on several of the figures I could use in Supersystem 3 games and Strange Aeons, I should make out well. The rest of the stuff will be to paint for fun or even trade off later for other things I would want.
-
I think I'll be changing my pledge, maybe bigger, maybe not :?
-
Neotacha is tracking this one for us. Not sure how much she has pledged so far, but I know she has upped her original pledge a couple of times. Looks like some good swag.
-Michael
-
Yea, as I said the Fantasy stuff was not that interesting....now they started to put things in there that I could use for Strange Aeons and Supersystem 3, some of that stuff is just damm cool like the fire and ghosts stuff....wow....investing Friday. Damm you Reaper!
-
Heck, even if you dont do Fantasy, you could always turn around and ebay it and probably get a tad more of a return.
Im gona do it :)

If you know you'll pledge, why not do it now? Sniping is rather pointless in this, as the sooner people pledge, the sooner we reach (and unveil new) stretch goals. Doing this will attract more pledgers, which in turn will reveal more stretch goals and so forth.
As it stands now, you get almost 180 minis for $100. It's nuts! I'm contemplating a second pledge for vampire "just because"... Seeing how I'm blasting through my unpainted stuff god knows I really need another 400 miniatures out of the blue to keep me occupied! o_o
-
As someone who just cant justify the expense right now...but loves a few of the figures that are on offer...I have a plea to at least some of you to list some of your spares here or on other forums before taking them to ebay. I would certainly be interested in snagging a few just for the sheer joy of painting them up.
Cheers,
Blue

Goes for me too, or if anyone at Vampire level would be willing to add an extra set of haunts and deep dwellers to their pledge for me I will pay for them now and onward shipping in due course.

Id totally share with you 2. Theres no way im gona use them all.

I'd love to invest because the figures are great. I just can't afford to do so now. :(

For me it isn't sniping, it is making sure there is money in the bank account. I understand it draws out only on the final day, but I would like to see my account have enough money that I don't have to worry about a stupid overdraft because it came out before the deposit.

Great Gods of Miniatures! they just added pirates and dungeon decor to the Vampire and Undertaker packages!
Well, I am going to be down $110 by this weekend....grabbing one of those Mythos sets!

@basaint...
Cool, I have sent you a PM re Haunts/Deep Dwellers

Gosh... couldn't resist, just spent 163 dollars... and i've maybe also brought a friend of mine in the deep... below a bones and lead mountain!
-
There’s something that I don’t understand though, can we pledge on things that are not "available" yet? For example, at the time of writing this, the Mummy set isn’t reach but can I add 5$ to my pledge to get them?
Sorry if it’s a dumb question but that would be nice to know… :?

If you pledged the Vampire level, you get them with the entire package. If you pledged less, yes from what I understand you could just add them on. Plus if you pledged Vampire and wanted more you could buy more on the extras area.
The key is that they have to hit the mark for the models to be counted to the options.
-
I wish I could afford to get in on this. :(

Like you Obsidian, I'm waiting on the availability of funds... that should have been through a couple of weeks ago! If they come through before Friday; I may well have to partake in this amazing offer.

Is anyone concerned about the type of plastic used leading to limbs and weapons that are bendy and not straight?
-
They are made of soft, rubbery plastic. They paint up well however and are good quality for the price. I painted 2 Bones figures this weekend and I’m really happy with the end results (if I can say so myself). The figures apparently took quite a beating while in the mail but I only had to immerge them in boiling water for a few second, bent them into place and cool them down under running water and they where good as new.
;)
-
I'm still nervous about it. In fact, despite not really being in a place financially to get in on it, I was very close until I found out they were made of this plastic. Is the boiling solution permanent, or will it slowly revert back to its old pose over time.
Maybe I am picturing something much softer than the reality, but I was thinking along the lines of the Last Night on Earth minis or Dungeons and Dragons figures. Is it different from that?
-
Calimero.. Their website says that some pictured extra sets may not be unlocked yet, they are just pictured and priced so you can calculate your pledge. Besides the mummies are only $10K away..;. ;D
A_Train... I think they are a bit tougher than D&D minis, but dont quote me on that since I only painted up the bones werewolf and ogre and they don't have thin weapons. But at around $0.50 apiece and free shipping, i'm willing to take the chance.
(sigh) they got me for $198 lol.
-
I'm going to up my pledge. I said I wouldn't but I will. I'll sell a load of it off though and hopefully get my cash back on it.
-
Yeah, Im going to save my $3 Urban Legend Sophie and sell it maybe 5 years from now, maybe it will offset a little of the cost :) .

lol...you and 5740 other people!
-
lol, yep!
-
Anyone know where the link is to choose some of the options? I can't find the damn thing anywhere.
-
If it is like the other projects you just add the cost to your pledge then when it ends they send you a mail asking you what extras you have paid for.
-
Kickstarter is going to have to upgrade to a 'menu' style selection process at some point, people have a lot of trouble with the additional pledge method they use now and the survey after the fact is peculiar. I'm not sure many of the 'project proposers' have the bookkeeping skills to get it right either... of three projects I've funded, only the Crossover Miniatures one had their shit together. I was happy with that one :)
-
Anyone know where the link is to choose some of the options? I can't find the damn thing anywhere.
If you click on the "Home" menu, then scroll down the page, you will see all the options that are available so far and their cost… you have to do the math yourself though and add the appropriate amount to your pledge (using the "manage your pledge" button on the upper right corner of the home page)
-
Ah I get it now.
Thanks
-
lol...you and 5740 other people!
After watching the FAQ video, I am going to trade my Sophie in for $25 of extra stuff. I think a case or some extra miniatures...I like the Sophie, but I would rather have something else.
-
Im not ablebto watch videos at the moment: what do you mean with trade spphie? Did you choose it as an option?
Because the sophie on a bikevof the vampire pledge is something i don‘t like tpo much, i would be happy to change to some giants or such! :)

Yes, they said in the video if you don't want the Sophie (that is limited edition) you can have $25 in credit instead.
What the explained is when you purchase the Vampire the Sophie comes with the package. The survey they send out later gives the open to trade the Sophie for other goodies on the purchase list of extra options. So if you paid $110 taking an extra set of Myths stuff, then you could trade Sophie in for another $25 (like the mini case).
Many people are not wild about the Sophie, I may could use it or collect it, but I would rather have other stuff myself.
-
Yes. I'll be trading mine in too. I think they may have done that because otherwise they will have to cast in metal 5000+ sophies. Doesn't make it very limited edition then. I may trade it in for a nethermaul.
-
Gonna keep mine, because that is the only reason I pledged. :D
-
200+ minis leadhead. Quite an undertaking ;) I'll probably keep only a few which won't see the light of day ever :D
-
ohhhh a hydra! :-*
And I like the swamp beasties!
-
So combing through those images I see about 30-35 figures that I would like to have mostly traditional RPG type characters...I'm just not sure I can justify paying $100 for those...and having all the others to deal with/sell off.
Soooo.....If anyone here is getting the vampire level and wants to sell off extra models they don't need please contact me and we can see if our lists match at all.
BTW...The are quickly approaching 1.5million...CRAZY!
Cheers,
Blue

Same as me, but I actually "want" far less than that. I wish there was a "pick any model for x, y or z each" option :?.
Bear in mind though, the original Bones set here was due for release March/April next year, all the extras that have been added as stretch goals will almost certainly be after that.....will you still want them this time next year?

At a rough cost of about 50 cents a Figure I can justify spending the $100, about 40-50% I will use, the rest is good for trade locally or online.
-
It just went over 1.5M. I opened the page at ~1.499 and then refreshed a minute later. (No, I didn't pledge anything myself.) Baffling stuff.
-
Just over 1.6M now... and at 1.79 a free griffon is included. I think the griffon won me over. I have changed my mind, and am now becoming part of the problem ;)
-
And a mystery beasty too. I think it should crack 2 mil by the end. Usually there are a tonne of final supporters in the last few hours.

GAH!

GIVE IN! YOU KNOW YOU WANT THEM! o_o :o
Not too late 53 hours left and counting! $100 gets you over 200 miniatures! That price will never be seen again for some time with this economy. Even if you don't use some the miniatures deal is simply amazing.
I plan to use what I don't want in trades for other Bones people may have to get more of what I want and give them something more they may want or trade them for other miniatures.
Plus I can get credit for the Sophie figure for $25, so in total I am getting $125 in product value for the $100.
Investing tonight and I have a buddy giving me some cash to get him some goodies also. Too good of a deal to pass up!
-
This 200+ mini deal is singlehandledly going to add a whole 'nother order of magnitude to the lead mountain of gamers across the world. People's closets are going to be crammed with unpainted minis. I mean, even MORE than before!
Never mind it's not lead per se. Mountains of Bones!

Yeah...this is tough...Its a great deal....
I can't believe that their initial goal was on 30k....I would call this a successful kickstart!
I also think its great that this money will allow them to bring production back to the states...even if it is Texas... ;D

plus I am getting the special edition 40k boxed set, at first she said to sell stuff (still will) but then opted to offer me a chance to clean the garage instead for the $100 for the set....
guess it is good I work in contracts now for a living! lol

I agree, it is pleasing to know that production is in the states again. A nice boost to our economy...if more people did this the US would be ok once again....

I've also opted to buy some of the optional extras. Now just to sit back and watch what else comes.

Oh yes. However, I believe that the market will be extremely saturated during the release, so I'm scheming on something else that will bring my money back. And make me look good, I hope.
Anyhow, I haven't pledged yet. Why? Because I'm a cheap curious Swede who loves to see the next item pop-up, and then the next, and the next.
I promised myself that when the amount of miniatures exceeds 225, I'll press pledge and throw curses at paypals rather opportunistic exchange rates...

I would bet there is people still that will trade for them...I also figure a string will appear in March to trade Reaper figures among one another in a swap shop to get more of what you want. I would like more of the corporate guys and some of the other interesting stuff...
-

Agreed. I'm sure a string will appear. Also there will be lots of people wanting to purcahse unwanted stock I think. I'm not looking to make a huge profit on what I don't want but I'd have to sell them pretty darn cheaply to even make a loss on what I don't want. Swapping sounds good too.
Between this and the Mantic kickstarter I am getting sooooooo many minis over the next year and a half.
-
And a new update has just kicked in
-
Even if you bid. If you sell each mini for $1 you'll make your money back and more and keep a few that you want too. I assume they will all be blistered.
I am pretty certain that the 'Vampire' level rewards do not include blisters. The will be sent in a loose bag or something like that. The 'Undertaker' level, for the retailers, has everything in blisters though.
Also, I would be interested in know how much profit Reaper makes off of this thing. I would doubt that all of the money from these latest stretch goals is actually needed to produce the models and add to the pledges. Seems like they are lining their pockets from my outsider's viewpoint. Can't blame em though, and the deal to be had is quite nice, so seems like a win-win all around.
-
My guess, knowing Reaper, is that they're feeding most or all of their "profit" right back into their product investment.
-
That sounds like a wise business move to me. Still would be cool to know the amount o_o
-
I think they said the cost of making the molds are quite high but the actual plastic is relatively cheap. So a high initial startup cost followed by cheap running costs.
-
Ping! They've just levelled up, adding 2 free Storm Giants to the Vampire level offer. It's getting frankly ridiculous. An embarrassment of riches.
-

The only riducule thing is that now I have to get the Ice and Fire Giants as well... Although them being uglier than an old mans flobby arse...
-
Is there anyone on this side of the pond, that wouldn't mind adding a few extra sets for me? Unfortunately I don't have the finances for a full vampire pledge, but would still love to get my grubby little fingers on some of those minis.

Time's running out...and I'm waiting for another deal to go through before I can pledge. :S

They've now added a Golem Goal

Hmm conservatively around £200 worth of figs now for £80 + £24 duty/tax + £3 currency conversion charge = £107. Even though I would only use about 50% of them, if the golems are thrown in then I will take the plunge even though I shouldnt since I have a tax bill looming :P.

um...what?

Reaper got $125 from me a $25 from a buddy pitching in so they did pretty good for a guy that is broke this week! I am selling stuff locally first to try to raise money to buy my 40k starter and blisters of the Sternguard weapons...

Excited but terrified at the same time. I would start a painting progress thread when they arrive (in six months time) but I imagine there will be a wealth of them popping up at the same time.

I dunno; I considered the paints for about 2 seconds and then realised that I'd rather have the money to spend on more toys
-
I'm undecided on the paints. They're pretty cheap, but I'm not certain about the color selections.
-
Well, I am in $125 with Sophie trade I have 50 to play with, figure the Mythos at elast, the Hydra perhaps and some other stuff...my buddy also gave me $25 to grab him a few goodies...

I'm slowly trying to move over to Vallejo's games line just because they're very similar to the GW colours that I've been using. So I think I'll leave Reaper's paints alone at this point.

I'm also wondering if this was a deliberate move; to slow down sales. Yes they want lots and lots of dosh but by the same token they've maybe realised that they have promised a little too much. *Shrugs* I don't know.
Still regardless it's an excellent deal; and I'm very much looking forward to March.
Sterling; whatcha planning on getting as extras?

Maybe they are running out of miniatures they want to convert to the bones line...
For the last few hours though, I can't help but agree - the stretch goals are somewhat disappointing...
-
Sterling; whatcha planning on getting as extras?
At the moment a extra set of Fire it Up, Mythos Monsters and the Clockwork Dragon. Planning also to trade in the Sophie and pick up a Hydra or two.
-
Ok, took the plunge.
Now how was it you traded Sofie for more minis?
-
you just change it once you get your pledge manager after the campaign ends
-
Apparently they have planned all the way up to 4 million with their stretch goals. I pledged $161. That should get me Vampire, 2 paint sets shipping plus Nethermaul traded for Sophie.
-
Very impressive so far, and the Vampire level is an amazing deal. The next hour should be very interesting...
-
Wohoo! All finished!
And sadly for my bank account I think it's going to be bad news that they offer the post kickstarter service *ouch*
Cheers
Andy
EDIT: if you only ordered the Vampire set and dropped the Sophie, using the extra money as shipping; it comes in at around £0.26 a model... not including any extras!
-
I am looking forward to the pile of Bones to arrive in the mail. Figure a trading circle will form up in a few months once the Bones starts to roll out. I may be looking for extras of Chronoscope, Corporate Security and some other odd and ends stuff.

I think that trading Kickstarter Bones is going to become a hobby in its own right judging by the numbers of those things that are going to be hitting the market simultaneously.
Have to wonder what it's impact will be on Reapers ongoing sales of the product. So many character figures in there that you really only need 1 of.
-
This was really a lot of fun to watch....it's great to know that a figure company can get such amazing support in this data nd age. They receieved more than 100x what they asked for!!!!
And...frankly....it's good to know that there are at least 17000 people out ther that like to play with toy soldiers too... lol

I imagine that many of the people who use the D&D prepaints may have bought into this offer as, they're much cheaper and prettier than the WotC efforts. I imagine that most of these miniatures won't see paint.
Personally I'm over the moon with the deal; they've already got me looking at some of. the older bones range, which I am now considering getting. I'm also. Hoping that it will spur me on to finish existing projects before the sudden deluge of minis in March.

Between Sedition Wars and the Bones deal... I'll be painting for the next 20 years. And I already had a huge backlog of stuff. You'd think that would be upsetting, but the only thing I'm upset about is missing out on the Zombicide deal earlier.
I will probably be trading away some of the Bones stuff locally or here if people want it.
I guess I better fire up my paint brushes and start working that backlog down before November!
-
There is already a bones trading forum on the Reaper website for those that are interested.

I've got the metal version of the were; I use him as the big bad for my chaos in carpathia werewolves.
Desperate for the purple worm; going to get a couple and paint them desert colours for pulp/conan games.
Cheers

Do any of you know when we will be able to pay our pledge via Paypal? :?

Ah, you didn't do the Amazon option? That is what I picked, my wife said it charged already.
-
I've seen purple and green ones but never desert colors, that should be pretty cool!
I think Reaper said you will be gettin an E-Mail in about 2 weeks after they sorted out all the kickstarter stuff.
-
^ dont mind me, I was thinking about the survey.
-
This email just came out...so, if you want to dip into the fun bag of minis you still have a chance...
OK, this link is for newbies only!!!
If you missed the Kickstarter and want to get involved, go enter in the e-mail you would like us to contact when the post KS Reaper pledge manager goes live.
If you've already pledge, this is not for you!
This is NOT a link to the Reaper Pledge Manager!

I thought RAFM's funding via Indiegogo was the only campaign taking Paypal. I stayed away because Kickstarter seemed to require Amazon, which can [FILL IN THE BLANK].

Ah, you didn't do the Amazon option? That is what I picked, my wife said it charged already.
I’ve pledged thru Amazon but I only own pre-paid (gift) credit cards and I would need to split my pledge payment in 3… I ask both Reaper and Amazon and their answers was that "there’s no way you can do this". The only option I have left is to let my pledge "fall thru" for now and pay with Paypal once the survey’s out… hence my previous question ;)
-
I pledged and will not be needing any of the Scifi or pulp stuff. If anyone wants to trade or make an offer pm me. I do a lot of terrain work and am always looking, I play mostly fantasy based rpgs. Hordes and Warmachine, Malifaux, Bushido or anything else wargaming related.

Where are you at in the world? I would be up to trading some of my Fantasy stuff....most of what I want is the monsters, creatures and undead but the majority of the characters I may not have a huge interest in....I do want to get some of the extra Security Corps guys....at least...

I am in the US.

Anyone know if late pledgers get all the stretch goals?
I was able to resist this, but now have a bit of the opposite of buyers remorse.
Still not convinced I would get in at this point, as I'm not sure I need all that, but the price was pretty good.

Nope.
I don't think you can even pledge anymore after the ending date. So, no pledge, no rewards.

Perhaps I'm misunderstanding?

Edit:
Found this over at the Kickstarter page in the comments.
As far as people who didn't back (ie, someone who was not one of the 17,744 backers) they WILL be able to add new accounts at the pledg emanager, but at a higher price than a backer paid - for example, a Vampire to them will be $150, where you got it for $100, and Options will be 20% Higher (Nethyrmaul will be $30, for example).
And I want to be 100% clear: If you BACKED us, your Vampire is honored at $100, and Prices are honored EXACTLY as stated in the Kickstarter. The INCREASE IN PRICES only applies to people whose e-mail addresses are not listed as one of the 17,744.
Exceptions will be made to this rate ONLY for A)the two dozen people that e-mailed us DURING the Kickstarter and asked for the PayPal option, and B) the half a dozen people that contacted us and said their pledge was dropped/failed during the "final 30 minutes crash". We will count them as "Backers".
So people can buy in late, but at an increased price. That's enough to make me keep out of it. (I was just looking for an excuse to not get in). I can't justify paying $50 more than I would have paid initially, especially since I don't really have the fund, and I don't really have the need.
Still a good option to anyone wanting in.

Well, the extra 50 would be still less than about $1 a figure from what I see...so it isn't a bad deal. Plus it gives time for those to get income together for their pair. I am already saving up for another KS in October...the worst month every for cash for me with a cruise, wedding annv and wife's birthday...gah!
-
No, its still a great deal. But it used to be a better deal. I'm just using anything as an excuse to talk myself out of miniatures that I don't need and cannot afford, haha.
-
Anyone know if late pledgers get all the stretch goals?
Yes you do.
If you buy into Vampire now at the higher price, you still get all the figures as listed (without the Limited Sophie....that is KS only). You also get the same access to the stretch goal extras and options, but they are all at a higher price too.
You will be paying more than the KS supporters but not as much as if you wait until the moulds are made and the figures on the shelf.
There is not (nor will there be apparently) a way to get the options and extras without paying into the vampire pledge level first....I asked already.

Look like I’m screwed… just because they can’t process payment thru several cards… and I was one of their firsts backers! >:(

I have had that problem on another kick-starter as well, never really got an answer as to what the reason was.

If you're willing to pay through Paypal, I'm sure they'll still let you contribute at your planned level.

Yea, they sent out a newsletter about payment issues, I am sure they can work with you if there is some payment issue with your pledge. They seem to be real easy going guys at Reaper...
-
The first thing I did was to send them an email. They, both Reaper and Amazon can’t (or won’t) do anything about it. If I ever back a KS campaign again, I will be sure to know what exactly we can and can’t do regarding payment before I pledge any amount.

Have a look at their update #61:
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1513061270/reaper-miniatures-bones-an-evolution-of-gaming-min/posts/298197 (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1513061270/reaper-miniatures-bones-an-evolution-of-gaming-min/posts/298197)
Since you already contacted them about your problem during the KS project was on (I've understood this from your posts), I'm pretty sure they'll honour you as a backer and allow you to use a paypal to pay for your desired pledge. You'd only need to contact them now:
If you still can't get it to work for you write us at

Make the subject: “I had a problem pledging in your Kickstarter”

I'm a latecomer looking for it as well

I think we just have to be patient ;D (I know this is very difficult I'm very anxious myself :D). The way Reaper has informed us so far on everything, I think we will know the second there is a survey.

Yes they've got to have top marks for communication.

After the Kickstarter they should take care we don't crash their server when they open up the survey.
-
So how much is this up to ???
Is there a possibility of them making the millions of dollars back and then profit on top of that after all the backers have been 'paid off'?
How much money has been 'spent' though kickstarter projects that would have been better spent on 'home funded' projects that are a labour of love rather than a quick fix solution to someone's gaming needs.
I'm letting the beer talk a bit but it's been simmering between a few of us now for several weeks.
How long before the bubble bursts?
"I need twenty thousand dollars for some custom dice, or I need thirty thousand dollars for sixe figures that no-one else will buy except ne and a few friends" >:(
I'm going to post a proper rant about it in the Open Talk section but I needed to get ths off my chest somewhat :?
cheers

I agree that the KS is a little over done at the moment, but I'm still okay with it. It's not like anyone is forcing us to pledge.

Well if they need $30000 for figures no one will buy, then the KS will fail. Otherwise, it proves that there were people out there willing to buy them, and the KS was the perfect way to know that.

I have to agree here. Sometimes it feels KS is really just a fad and that everyone and his dog is doing it without taking the thought and time to create something decent from the start. However, Reaper's kickstarter has also shown that in some cases it does allow something to happen that wouldn't have otherwise.
Personally it has to be very good before I bother with KS, Reapers is the only one I've jumped at yet and then only close to the end when it started getting to be a ridiculously good deal.
Duncan
-
Reaper also had their KS extremely well planned out. so when the money flooded in near the end they had enough ideas ready for them to keep the momentum going. I'm not sure but other companies just jumping on the KS bandwagon may just make things up as they go along not thinking about whether their stretch goals are profitable or not. I'm sure Reaper made profits their priority when sorting out these stretch goals and I'm also sure they will still make a tidy some from this. Plastic is cheap and although I'm super happy to be getting some minis at 50c a mini the plastic is probably still a small percentage of that. The set up will be the biggy.
-
I'm hoping they'll have their reward manager ready soon. I'm really looking forward to picking all of my extra goodies!

I just wonder how long it will take us to crash it. lol

10 minutes?
Shall we take bets lol

just one question: can i ask why the Reaper team had to code a pledge manager after the end of the funding?
I mean, no matter how many people are pledging, the code should have been ready since a while, no?
Apparently in the KS page there are a good number of touchy people, and my doubts about the honesty of the reaper team (which are more than legitimate in these days) are been taken as personal offenses, replied with gratuit insults... that's great to have LAF, a place with no flames! ;)
anyway, i'm just asking not because i expected my miniatures before a looong time for now, but just because i don't like lies, and i don't see why they had to make a pledge manager after the end of a one-month-long crowdfunding!
If someone knows something more please tell me ^^
-
Sang
I think you're not alone in your thinking. They had a plan already and a goal of 30k-so you'd think the outline would've been started after that. Honestly, once they got to 100K, they should've started building it. After 1 Mil, I hate to be harsh but they really dropped the ball.
You should read the comments on the KS site. People aren't happy with the delays at all.
-
Can't understand the issue. Sure, they haven't developed the Pledge form.
But, will this affect the miniature production? Will the stuff not arrive in March? Are we in March?
-
@basaint
i have read and commented, and after i put my doubts on the web people starting insulting me saying that i blame but i'm not expert enough to talk.
acutally, i've done 4 exams of programming, i'm not a pro at all but enough to understand this ^_^
@silversixx
i think there are two problems:
1) General delay: as any project is quite normal to expect delays. that is not great but march is quite an ambitious goal, and the delays are probable.
2) telling stuff about a misterious code very very hard to make: if they have delays due to the casters, or simply due to the enormous amount of stuff to cast is perfectely reasonable. BUT please don't say anything about the pledge master! Just be honest!
Or, as i said, there's something more or less technical i'm missing, that's not impossible, and i would be pleased to be updated about it ^^
EDIT: the pledge master delay will not affect the march date, but for shure is affecting right now the first batch of models, that i'm waiting quite impatientely! ;)
-
Well the pledge manager is going out to people now. I just locked in my selections. I added 1 Mythos Monsters, an extra of both the IMEF and NOVA corps sets, a Frost Wyrm, 2 figure cases, 2 sets of Deep Dwellers and 2 Cthulhus to my stuff. Didn't have to spend any extra money above what I'd already pledged, so that was cool. A shame I won't see any of it until next spring now though. :(
-
Great, the pledge form doesn't accept å, ä or ö. A pity that my address contains those letters then, arses >:(
Hopefully they read my meassage stating these fact and that they make these changes :)
Had to pay an extra 12 dollars as well. Bastardly big Chtulhu for 10 bucks? Yes please...
-
Yeah, realizing that everything will be shipped in a single package on march is quite a pain, expecially because nobody said that before! >:(
I'm liking less and less the way Reaper's working, but still the minis are nice... so i've just to hold on!
-
Yeah, realizing that everything will be shipped in a single package on march is quite a pain, expecially because nobody said that before! >:(
It actually said so in the info text about four times though :D
One single heavy package to Italy? The chances of that reaching your door is what, 1:4? ;)
-

Well, maybe 1:2, but still too few! XD

Odd, my address wasn't a problem.
Looking forward to march! Lots of hefty plastic toys for my lad (chtulhu!) and even more plastic toys for me!
-
Just did my survey. Surprisingly there wasn't a lot in the extras I actually wanted. I traded Sophie in for Nethyrmaul. Got a couple of paint sets and the vampire set. My son will enjoy some painting practice with some of these. I'll keep a few and sell a bunch off to recoup some of the money even though the market will be flooded.

Here in Denmark when people can't write æ, ø or å they write ae, oe or aa instead. Does that not work in Sweden? Just curious thats all.
Duncan
-
Well it should, but then I would forfeit my chance to bitch and moan about something mundane, and that would be against my comfort seeking national culture.
People have gone to jail for less.

I never bother with the dots over å, ä, ö... I just skip them and write a, a and o.
Even when webforms accept them as input, they often encode to something differently containing characters like '[' and some other weird stuff.
Most annoying and it makes the address very hard to interpret. >:(
I also locked down my order to the following:
* Vampire
* international shipping
* Frost Wyrm
* Jabberwocky
* Chtulu
I ditched Sophie, so it all got down to the $130 I'd already pledged. Hooray, sticking to the plan Dan!
Took me a while to realize that I was supposed to press + instead of - to remove Sophie from my order.
Very illogical in my book, but I guess it was stated if I actually bothered to read the instructions down to the letter.
Who's got time for that anyway, when there's loads of miniatures ahead!? ;D
-
Well, if your address ever goes through either
a) two different software platforms or
b) a person whose native language doesn't contain diacritics,
you can be more than sure that things explode like a fuel truck in movies - spectacularly and in slow motion. Even in year 2012, using anything beyond 7-bit ascii character set is asking for trouble in any computing. And most people are shocked to learn that umlauts could carry some actual meaning. They assume it's some sort of sprinkling used randomly just for fun or for heavy metal attitude. Don't even expect them to find it on their keyboard.
An occasional French acute is the most complicated thing you can expect to be understood. Beyond that, all hope is lost.
-
@appekaboo
You copycat ;) That was my extra pledge as well ;)
@dolmot;
I know, but I just love to moan :D How you Finns coop is beyond me.
-
We can have problem with accent even in French... some of my web orders ended up with pretty funky address... like Qu*@$bec instead of Québec...
I just don’t bother putting them now, it’s way more simple especially since some web site shows the info correctly but screw things up when it’s time to print the actual shipping label…
Anyhow, I’m off to fill the pledge now, I hope I can use Paypal ::)
-
Well Paypal worked but since my first pledge fell thru (see my previous post), I ended up paying 150$ for the vampire level instead of 100$… I had to let go a paint set and the "orcapocalypse" to cover the difference :(
-
I can't quite Believe a company can take well over 3m on a kickstarter, it simply seem wrong and almost angainst the idea of kickstarter. With a product thht popular they seem to be playing the system and earning months of high interest! Unless of course they expected to ust make it.
-
I can't quite Believe a company can take well over 3m on a kickstarter, it simply seem wrong and almost against the idea of kickstarter. With a product taht popular they seem to be playing the system and earning months of high interest!
Actually I always imagine the kickstarters ran by larger companies as a sort of pre-orders. And then in general geared towards products the company thinks might be popular but doesn't dare or cant invest enough in themselves. Without kickstarter the bones line might well have died an early death as the first offerings only had two interesting models in it, the rest being uninteresting doubles of the same sculpt.
I think that for a company this is a great way to get projects going that they might otherwise never have been able to, as the money comes in the front end of the transaction rather then at the end. And to that end it might well end up producing quite a few wonderful miniature lines and games we would never have seen otherwise.
Now whether or not kickstarter is meant for "larger" companies and if the money pledged to reaper is "taken away" from other smaller initiatives I really don't know, so I won't venture to make a statement on that.
-
YPI
You hit the nail on the head, I was thinking about it last night, but the fact they took so much made me feel bad for first timers that are struggling...
But it's not often you pay for something so far on advance, though I guess gamesworld is slightly different to real world. in someways the kickstarter here is that same as Otherworld's voucher scheme. I guess I was just shocked by the massive support for the products.
It still seems a little strange to see Reaper up there though I'm sure they don't take money away from other companies (indeed most miniature kickstarters seem to suceed) for me I guess it was the size of the company and the size of the funds generated, perhaps it will be GW next....
But new minis out there, I'm all for that!
-
PS, I think you are on to something re preorders. However, I'd add that is feels psychological different to take part in a kickstarter and I for one find it much easier to handover 100s on minis rather than 10s, perhas it's the I'm part of something feeling that feels good. However, it would be interesting to know if/how they impact on games stores, not that I know if reaper or other kickstarter projects would sell products through stores....
-
WTF... just going through the pledge manager, and it seems like they have upped the price on the extras?
Look at the Reaper KS... Nethyrmaul $25, but on the pledge manager it comes up as $30? It seems like they added like $2 to every extra item. Am I the only one who is seeing this?
EDIT: Not sure what happened, but I exited the pledge manager, and came back in after it reset, and the prices were back to normal. Managed to fit in an extra model with the real prices. Perhaps it was a glitch?
-
Mine was fine. Did you purchase during the kickstarter time? if not that's probably where the difference is. If you did pledge at the right time did you go through the email they sent you with your unique kickstarter code?
Other than that I'm stumped.
-
Oh yeah, I pledged during the fundraising, and got the email from them. Like I said, I ended up closing the window (which erases all your entries) and followed the link again and the prices were back to normal. I got it filled in fine now, but when I first saw it I was somewhat perplexed. Maybe it has something to do with all the mysterious computer coding they were talking about??? ;D
-
... Perhaps it was a glitch?
Probably… when I first enter the manager, the only things that showed was the shipping option and the t-shirt option… They did said that the manager don’t always work well when using IE.
-
Funnily enough, my pledge manager was broken the first time I used it. There were no buttons visible to press to move on. Luckily I could use my Ipod, on which it worked perfectly to help me navigate. (didn't want to do the thing through the Ipod in case I had to make extra purchases.
-
That's sad. Tonight i dreamed that the kickstarter minis had arrived.
Well, they were full of mould lines, and the quality was quite strange, so probably the reality will be better!
-
lol
Sounds partially like a nightmare...
I imagine that the day the toys arrive, my missus might see me dissapearing quickly into the man cave and wonder if I'll even come out of it for dinner ::)
-
The nightmare was waking up and realizing that i've to wait FIVE more months! :S
-
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t1T_DoWqb4w&feature=player_embedded
Whoepie, only three more months
Sorry for the threadomancy, but WOW that are a lot of miniatures coming my way...
Regards,
Za
-
:D
Looking forwards very eagerly.
-
i've seen it already a dozen time, and still i can't realize how many minis i'm gonna recieve. I've MUCH more laying there but... they are still SOO MANY!
-
I imagined that a huge box was going to arrive at my door. That looks quite manageable
-
My Cthulu is going to need a box of his own!!
-
I have some reaper bones figs. Your dream was a nightmare. No mold lines mate.
There was a little on the left side of my werewolf. The troll, ogre, and dwarf were okay though.
-
I just got a boner :-*
I'll get my flasher coat...
-
I've just watched it and thought - oh f*ck, how much grief am I going to get from my missus for that, lol.
But the kids will laugh themselves silly :)
-

And I've got TWO vampire levels heading my way - AND a bunch of add-ons. Yikes! My annual total for 2013 will be in deep red!
-
Don't worry Preedh. Your tally signature says lead tally, so bones shouldn't count then. :)

You couldn't say anything more appropriate lol lol lol
-

You and I both. I backed Reaper plus four other miniature-related projects in 2012. And I already had a more than sizeable pile of backlog models before I added nearly another 1000 to it! But it'll be fun having so many options and periods to choose from!
-
I am so glad that I have only one vampire level coming my may. Then again, I burned way to much cash on the judge dredd, Red box games and the centre stage angels and demons, kings of war, dreadball, zombicide, sedition wars and studio miniatures kickstarters... Every time I write the list I feel proud and bad at the same time :?
The missus already asked me yesterday if I hadn't bought enough miniatures lately, not knowing what is still underway. It's gonna be an intuiging year and I look forward to some nice projects and seeing other people their work lol
-
I haven't really bought very much this past year; we'll see how the arrival of this big honking box goes....
-
I imagined that a huge box was going to arrive at my door. That looks quite manageable
Me also - and wondering how I was going to "explain it". :-I
But this looks a respectable size. The only thing to remember is all the add ons I made...and how many were for larger beasties???
-
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HQmbwprxv6g
:o Only one more month of waiting left... :P
-
Whoa...
-
makes me think: "cool... but now STOP! stop! ...please... stop! no more!"
-
Sheesh... what have I done. ::)
-
Anyone else concerend about some of these...

I'm concerned when they end up in my hand looking like that or when Reaper post saying "look guys, we have a problem with detail..." but until then it's all rumours and hearsay. Yes, the chap in that pic looks crap but there's nothing saying the final product will look like that.
-
meh, just a pal screaming for a head swap. Honestly, just the sword of that man normally costs more than the whole figure in this lot ;)
i don't mind having a 20-30% of the minis that are not-usable. It's the same than buying from Old Glory, or other cheap companies. But cheaper, and much more various!
-
The is also one really wonky candelabra in that video...but overall that is just a crazy amount of figures for the money.
Cheers,
Blue
-
I just went and looked at the Bones Skellies I have and the detail in the faces is there but hard to see (when unpainted) even when held in the hand. So it's possible there may be more detail than the camera picked up. There is a slight sheen to the plastic and that seems to effect how it is perceived. The skellies in the roll by didn't seem that detailed either and yet they are the same that is already available.
-
exactely. That video is meant to move people to scream "SOO MANY!" for the details we will have to wait one month more... :)
-
If the quality of the KS final product is the same as the Bones figures already available, we haven't anything to worry about 8)

You're all right, I shoulden't care that much because i'll just put them under the knife anyway lol.

My thoughts exactly. Plus, Reaper isn't the sort of compay that does things half bothered (unlike others I can think of), so I put my trust in them to have done it well.
Regarding the wobbly candelabra, I'm guessing that with hot water you should be able to straighten it out, has anyone tried it with other Bones?

It is quite a logistic challenge for them. If they make it in march or even april I must say they did a hell of a job...

Hi! Looking on the comment thread on the KS page seemed that some delays are showing at the horizon.
it would be great to have none, but i can survive even with a little delay. But still, i would like to be informed =)

Well boiling water worked just fine when I straighten my Kobolds’ spears... oh, that sound strange ;D

Thought it probably would.

As someone who's looking to do a bit of a retro dungeon crawl --- what material are these made out of? Are they that horrid new quasi-plastic stuff? (see Sedition/Defiance Games etc.) or a better polymer?
I love the old-school nature, and of course the prices...and I'm damned tired of GW nonsense being the only readily available cost-effective dungeon denizens. Is it good stuff? Need any scrubbing before prime/paint?
-
I have the big worm and its awesome! You can even paint without primer... just slightly bendy, detail is ace!
-
So close to these being released now! Looking forward to it arriving in the mail.

somehow, i read that some delays are occurring.
For shure they are gonna wait until all the packages before shipping, and it's ok. But i would LOVE to have them in april, not may ^^"
-
Yes as much as I'm happy to have all these great new toys on the way, I'm starting to get a little saddened by the number of campaigns that are falling behind. In some cases only a few weeks, in others it's months. I do hope that the Reaper stuff will be on time.
-
Well, I don’t expect them to ship 17,774 parcels in a few days… they are the victim of their own success and delays are bound to happen. That being said, I’m not in an hurry to receive them, I’ve got plenty of figures to paint in the meantime… lol
-
To be honest I'm really impressed that they are more or less on target when you consider the amount of boxes they've got to get packed and out.
-
They were letting latecomers buy the kickstarter products too so it would probably be somewhere between 18,000 and 20,000 I would imagine!
-
I understand that Reaper is starting to ship out the packs of "Bones" plastic figures in March 2013. As far as I understand, there are nearly 17,000 packs and each is about 220 figures. I make that a staggering 3,750,000 figures. (Please correct this if you know the real quantities?)
I am interested in what that will do to the fantasy market.
I expect that the 17,000 purchasers will sort out the sets into "want" and "don't want" and soon we will see hundreds of thousands of Reaper Bones on Ebay.
I would guess that few people paint more than 100 figures per year, so the maths says that at least 37,000 painters do not need to buy anything for at least a year.
Given that the figures are mostly for dungeon crawls, how does that effect GW's Hobbit line, Hasslefree, Otherworld and the other fantasy miniatures manufacturers?
I did not participate in the Kickstarter but I do plan to buy some of the large fantasy creatures (dragons, owl bear, giants, transparent fire creatures and transparent ghosts).
I also started the same topic on TMP here:-

same thought i had when the offer came out: that will somehow damage the other companies for shure. On the other hand, it will change the market in a way that could be good for us gamers.
and remember, the lead-plastic-bone pile is meant to grow forever...
-
this period of wargaming history will be known as the great shedding of bones. Ebay up those bones boys so I can clean up.
+1. 8)

How many people here have bought figures, even though they have a 'lead pile' more than a year old. We're known for being easily distracted by the next new thing. I don't think the effect will be that measurable.
-
I know there are some sculpts in the set that I don't like and don't really want to paint. Not sure what I'll do with them, though. I suspect it's correct that they won't fetch very much on eBay once everyone starts dumping their extras. "Free to a good home," I guess.
-
If you're like me, you bounce from project to project and have more of those than you'll likely ever finish. I'll be hanging on to all of them, even if it's unlikely that I'll get around to them for years, or ever. Having options for games, rule sets and figures to use is part of what I love about the hobby.
-
I won't keep all mine. But some will be good painting practice for my son.

First Vampire packages started to arrive. Quite excited here :)

The first vid is the best because of the guys accent.
indeed.
anyway, looking at this made me a little worried. i want them and start working with, otherwise my lead-bone pile will never end.

That certainly are a lot of minitures for 100 bucks. Yet from what I have seen none of them really struck me as being something I've always wanted to have. Still - a lot of models...

some of them are really not in my interests, but there are some (let's say, 100-150) that are really sweet. and a few dozen or so are something i really love. :)
So i'm happy with the complete set. Moreover, having a full set with the same size-look, and in a resistent and transportable plastic is a great boost for the idea of a dungeon crawl! :)

Personally I cannot wait... It's like a second christmas! So has anyone outside of the US recieved their box o' bones yet? Also do we know when they are shipping the additional pledges?
Cheers

Nope nothing yet but if I get my miniatures in May it is still a very good job they did at Reaper. So many backers and so little delay. Respect. There are others that think different about that unfortunately.

I can only wholeheartedly agree. Reaper are doing an amazing job with this one- the sheer number of miniatures and pledgers is staggering. Whats more is, i feel that what we're getting for our money is unbelievable value. I'm still staggered by this kickstarter, and too be honest I think reaper must be aswell.
Cheers

It's quite amazing that they have stuck so close to their schedule. Some people have very little patience though. Me, I can wait. I don't really need another 200 minis at the moment, I've already got more than that unpainted already :'(

I was having a wee look through the Reaper forums earlier tonight and I came across this:
Now, that dragon is colossal! I really like the sculpt (from what I can see) but I do think the tail is a bit extreme! I'm sure that it can be shortened.
Also I'm not particularly liking the translucent plastic ghosts/fire elementals. I'm pretty sure that I'll be wanting to paint over them! Seems a bit gimicky- from the pictures and videos I've seen you lose all sorts of details.
Finally I hope to have some of the existing bones line arriving over the next few days; a couple of purple worms and a not-mind-flayer.
Cheers
Andy
EDIT: I can also see why Reaper are considering how they ship orders with 'extras' such as the skeletal dragon.
-
bout the dragon, there's something strange. the cost in the kickstarter was 10 $, and the official price will be 75$. Why? is there any marketing super-secret technique?
-
I think they didn't expect it to be that big, that's my thought. Especially when the nethyrmaul mini will retail at the same amount but cost $25 on the KS
-
I think they didn't expect it to be that big,
They are not the only ones... I'll need an additional shelve in my cabinet and have a feeling that if I ever want to use this guy in warhammer it will be tricky to find a base on which he fits lol
Won't complain to much though for a imho well spent $10 :-*
-
Damn, I've should really have got one when it was posted! :o I got absolutely no clue whatsoever what I should use it as, but it would find it's use. Someday...
-
I've got that big mother coming, as well as several of the larger figs. Can't wait to see them, but I hope the bendy sword thing can get cleared up.
-
Haha...that Texas accent in the first video makes me flashback to my years in grad school in Texas....too funny. I also love how he didn't really remember what any of the figures were... lol
that is an impressive pile of figures no doubt!
I too will be looking forward to a few "cast offs" ... ;)
Cheers,

there is in the "preview" section of the reaper site. And it is said by many people on the kickstarter comments
-
Also in the pic on the preview section the tail is curved around more which is probably why that one looks ridiculously long. Obviously it will still be ridiculously long but curved around it shouldn't be so apparent. I really don't know if I'm going to keep my nethyrmaul or sell it. I have no need or space for it but I still want it. I guess I'll see how big the package is (No dirty comments on that please ;)

It's especially bad when we're talking about Bones here.

I am so glad I ordered both of those skeletal dragons and the red dragon, I didnt think that they would be quite so big; my PCs will have a heart attack :P
-
Suitable product name for my genitals uplifting mode, going through all the pics...
-
Whats the latest on this KS? Have most people received their Bones yet? I have yet to see a flood of listings in the Bazaar so I'm guessing they are still shipping them...just curious.
Cheers,

I suspect my order was on the 'complicated' side of things, and I read that they're shipping in order of complexity. I haven't heard anything yet.
I wonder if they received their paint, and have shipped Vampire + paint yet.
-
Still waiting on mine, Ordered the vampire level(traded Sophie out for a case),1 paint set and Kaladrax. It's a fantastic deal but regret getting it as my interest have changed.
-
Have not gotten mine yet. i did a few trade ins at a single vamp level.
-
None yet. But I'm in no rush. Hopefully I'll recieve it before september.

Agree somewhat - but I'm really looking forward to some of the contents of the package. Most player characters are surplus to my needs, but I'll use some as pawns for board games. The beasties are where it's at!

and actually it's quite the opposite for me. :) I just wanted characters for skirmish, and giants. Lots of giants.
-
Once I have got mine in hand ill sort through my keepers, then let my son pick out a couple of dozen maybe more and then see what I want to trade with others or sell.
-
I don't think anyone has gotten theirs. I'm getting some from a friend of mine when his come in and he judges the Painting Contest at ReaperCon If he doesn't have his yet...
-
Some people that only ordered the vampire without any addons have gotten theirs. The more complex the order the later it will arrive. :)
-
I ordered only the vampire, and mine arrived last week :) I'm still picking thorugh them, the kids will paint most of the rest.
-

Good to hear :)
-
Still waiting on mine too.
-
I don't even recall what I've ordered! ;D
-
I pledged for Vampire but added some extras and a few figure cases. All I've received so far is my biker Sophie.
-
I traded Sophie for nethyrmaul. Wished I gone kaladrax and $15 on something else.
-
So it looks like DG is not the only one who's laying the blame on those dasdardly Chinese?! >:(
Just kidding. ;)

I thought that reaper were using some of the money they made to get a plastic casting system in Texas. I guess that takes a while to set up though.
-

If I recall correctly, they stated that they would buy a plastic casting system and I thought I read that they have now bought it. They also stated that already during the kickstarter that this entire kickstarter would be "cast" in China.

From their newsletter:
First, our Canadian customers.
During the run of our Kickstarter campaign, we promised that we'd get you your stuff without you being nailed with a bunch of customs fees. To that end, we've had to apply for non-resident importer status to Canada. This way, we absorb the cost of the customs fees, and you get local delivery of your pledge packages. Unfortunately, we're caught in a bureaucratic morass of red tape. We were led to believe that we would be finished with this part of the process in December 2012, but we've been there for months now. Happily, we've received word from our customs broker that we're very close to having our application finalized, and as soon as we have the all clear, you'll start receiving your things. We're terribly sorry for the delay, but this was the only way to do it without sa ddling you with the import fees.
tl;dr: We're stuck in red tape, but the end is near, and we start duty-free shipments to Canada soon.
Now, everybody else.
You know we've been partnering with a company in China to manufacture your Bones figures. They sent us the first of several staggered shipments for fulfillment: five shipping containers with the Vampire boxed sets. We've received and processed those containers, even renting more storage space to hold it all. We also broke down a number of those vampire boxes to process add-ons that were included within the Vampire box. Then we started fulfillment, and we blasted through several thousand pledges much more quickly than we anticipated.
Now we're waiting on shipment two from China. These containers include many of the larger add-ons. We have documentation that we will receive them any day. As soon as we do, we'll continue fulfilling the orders that include the items that arrive in this wa ve of containers. We didn't expect to go so fast with the first wave, and China took longer to ship wave two than originally promised.
On the bright side, if past performance is any indication, there won't be a huge turnaround time between our receipt of the Bones and shipping them to you. Once we get to your order, our system will send you an email with tracking information for our US customers and a customs confirmation number for our international customers.
tl;dr: We've shipped all we can and are waiting for more stuff from China so we can send out the rest. We'll email when we fill your order.
There isn't anything we would rather be doing that sending you your stuff, and we will be resuming that process as soon as humanly possible.
We appreciate your continued patience and again thank you for your support.
Sincerely,
Ed Pugh
CEO, Reaper Miniatures

At least they've put out a press release. The wait isn't souring me on Reaper. I did come across one guy who got his and is painting them and posting them on his blog. He seems to love them, so that's a bit of good news.
-
I have to say I've been impressed with the level of communication from them. Yes, they're late, but the project also went beyond their wildest imaginations, and they're not really that behind, when you take it into consideration. But the waiting doesn't make the antticipation any easier!

That was probably the update sent out via Kickstarter.

sounds all very slick and professional
now no more:
We are currently waiting on only 4 more shipments (Containers) from China, the last of which should be leaving China about one week from today!
It normally takes 3-6 weeks from ship date to arrive at our dock, with 5 weeks being the Average.
As things arrive over the next few weeks we will be able to resume shipping orders, but we are thinking that the bulk of your orders will be waiting for that last shipment to arrive.
We appreciate your patience and support throughout this process!
~Ed
apparently, they knew that the container wasn't arriving since at least 5 weeks ago. Ew.
I've never been so comprensive about the difficulty of managing a few thousands packages (they ARE a lot, but you are professionists! You can hire people or whatever, and if it is too expensive it means that it is a bad business), but this is being ridicolous.
-
You mean hiring more people that will cost more money and eat into the profit margin that most businesses try to get?
I think they've run the numbers on many occassions, but fucked up a bit with the million chooses being available.
-
You mean hiring more people that will cost more money and eat into the profit margin that most businesses try to get?
They should have done that. It might be expensive, but in that case something is wrong in your business plan.
I think they've run the numbers on many occassions, but fucked up a bit with the million chooses being available.
Honestly.
17500 different lists. they are a lot, but a simple program can handle them as well as 5. No need for a dedicated server, nor for a cluster of machines. Just a pc.
They spent 1 month on creating a misterious pledge manager, when that time could be used by a dozen of people manually inserting the data (a cheap cost, after all), or using some basic php forms online.
All that thing is a big mess, but they choose to fall in it!
-
I thought the problem was they havent received all the necessary minis from China, and so cannot ship them? What has size of the personnel or data systems got to do with it? (Maybe I've got it wrong?)
-
yep, that was another problem, i just wanted to say that. ^^"
-
Right, personally I aint too bothered, because the deal was so ridiculously good. So I don't actually mind that this massive hoard of minis is arriving a little later. My plate is full as it is. But that's just my personal situation, and not meant as a defence for Reaper.
But I got to say that having dealt with Reaper for several years as retailer, they've always been fair and professional. I guess this new situations has caught up with them as well, don't you just hate having to depend on others to fulfill you robligations? You cant do anything about it, and any explanation may sound as an excuse.
-
My FLGS has already received their kickstarter (presumably) and have started selling the individual, loose plastic figures. I gotta say, they look great!
-
They should have done that. It might be expensive, but in that case something is wrong in your business plan.
Their business plan is fine. I don't see why they should have to incur more expenses after already giving us a ridiculous amount of stuff at such a low price.
You're upset it is delayed, I get that. So am I. But you are being a bit silly with these off-the cuff generalizations and criticism.

Where did they say anything about a dedicated server or a cluster of machines? Writing and testing a program, any program, that is to handle large amounts of data takes a bit of time.
Labor is anything but cheap, and you have clearly never had to manually insert large amounts of data into a database. Nevermind all the time it would take, the mistakes are likely to cause even more time and money to be wasted.
Where did you see that they knew 5 weeks ago that the latest container was delayed?
I'm disappointed that I have to wait longer for my stuff of course, but I will be giddy with joy when I receive it. Lol. I feel that Reaper have been more open and communicative about the KS fulfillment than a lot of other companies have been, so I'm still satisfied over all, personaly.

Actually, i'm not that angry because of the delay, i've plenty of other stuff to do here.
I'm more upset by the way they're managing this. Not the worst way, but i don't like that people are now just defending them because they offered a great deal. The two things are simply unrelated. ^^"
About the pledge manager, they said how hard was to organize such a big program, and how hard was managing the forms. Even using some kind of protections to avoid frauds, that is a form.
for the 5 weeks:
they said that the container takes 6 weeks to arrive, and it was shipped now. So, starting from 5-6 weeks ago, they should have known that this big boy wasn't going to arrive in time.
That said, i can happily wait, and i'll be really happy at the end too. But still, they are just playing a little with us. Other companies were even worse... well, that's not an excuse ^^"

I'm not defending them because of the deal. I'm defending them because they seem to be a good group of folks running an honest business. I really do not see the issues with their management. When they find out about a delay, they report it. Usually as soon as they have hard facts about what caused the delay and when things will be back to normal. And they have typically given in depth explanations as well.
The great deal IS directly related to the "solutions" you posted. They "spent" a good bit of money giving us the deal. Discounts are profits they never made, and therefore money they don't have available to spend.
About the pledge manager, they said how hard was to organize such a big program, and how hard was managing the forms. Even using some kind of protections to avoid frauds, that is a form.
What do you do for a living? I'm betting it has nothing to do with software or database coding.

Maybe. Not sure that really pans out either. There was at least one national Chinese holiday in the past couple weeks, which quite possibly delayed news of the, ah, delay.
That said, i can happily wait, and i'll be really happy at the end too. But still, they are just playing a little with us. Other companies were even worse... well, that's not an excuse ^^"
Again, still not seeing it. Other companies being worse was assuredly not an excuse, especially not if you are referring to MY posting of that fact. They have certainly never used that reasoning, and I doubt they ever would.

Personally I'm not sweating it because I know they'll make good on it. It'll come and in the meantime, I've loads of stuff to paint. There's a reason we all build lead mountains.

A little miffed that retailers are allowed to sell this stuff before they have all been delivered. The again there's eBay sellers anyway. Still looking forward to it. :)

guess what: you lost the bet ;) (well, being just 23 i'm now in a master degree, but it is mainly what i'm studying)
for the rest, i'm not going to continue to argue with you, since your tones are becoming inappropriate, IMHO.
I'm criticizing a company that got 3 + $ millions, and that didn't what promised in the right times. That is not terrible, but it might worth any complain.
You are just declaring my incompetence without any basis. and, still IMHO, that's inappropriate.
A little miffed that retailers are allowed to sell this stuff before they have all been delivered. The again there's eBay sellers anyway. Still looking forward to it. :)
good point: but probably they are just giving to the retailers the excess pieces not needed for the pledge packages. That's fair.
-

I lost half the bet. You still don't do it for a living yet, it seems. ;) Classroom=/=Real World. I don't mean to insult you, so please accept my apologies if you are taking it that way.
I have worked at software companies and all the things Reaper did take time, and money, to accomplish.

They may have gotten that money, but don't forget that both Kickstarter and Amazon take their cuts (to the tune of 10% in total if I remember correctly). Then, they stock has to be paid for before they can even get it to send to you. Also, don't forget that the KS was in part to purchase the machinery necessary to move Bones production in-house, which took a nice chunk of the total, I'm sure.
Money cannot make all the delays go away, necessarily.
You are just declaring my incompetence without any basis. and, still IMHO, that's inappropriate.
All I am getting at is that you seem to have little or no real-world experience with software development. It is almost never clear cut and easy.
I am certainly not commenting to your competence, because I have no idea if you are or not. Again, if that is how you are taking it, accept my apologies. Not at all how it was intended.
A little miffed that retailers are allowed to sell this stuff before they have all been delivered. The again there's eBay sellers anyway. Still looking forward to it. :)
good point: but probably they are just giving to the retailers the excess pieces not needed for the pledge packages. That's fair.
They had a Retailer bundle, I think. And it was either the base Vampire level or multiples of it. Which likely made those some of the first rewards shipped. The Retailers were backers of the project too, remember. Limiting their sales based on the fact that not everyone has gotten their rewards would be similar to saying that those non-Retailers who have received their rewards cannot open them or use them until everyone else gets theirs. It's fair as is, in my opinion.
Again Sangennaru: Mea culpa. No insult intended. Just debate.
~Eric
-
I was more pointing out the fact that loads of people backed this and now others that didn't can get them first, even though its at lot more cost. Also they aren't available on reapers store so if you don't know who the retailers are you can't get hold of them. I know a quick google search would provide the answer to that. I don't really mind much at all, I have too much else to do.
-
Money cannot make all the delays go away, necessarily.
absolutely agree: the point is not "you have money, you don't delay".
The point is: i don't care how big the business you had, i don't want big delays in any case. The fact that they had lots of orders is not an excuse, they should have thought at that before offering that many reward increases ;)
They had a Retailer bundle, I think. And it was either the base Vampire level or multiples of it.
yep. vampire packs are easy, probably all the people taking only a vampire pack have their bones now. :(
Again Sangennaru: Mea culpa. No insult intended. Just debate.

Cheers Eric, sorry if i overreacted. Sometimes i'ts hard to feel the right tone here in the wild wild web. :)

@Sangennaru:
Not meaning to be rude. But you're only 23, and a student. When you've been in the world of business for 10+ years, your opinion on the issue will not be the same as you're having now. This isn't an issue of stuff being available and Reaper just rolling around in a big pile of dollar bills and getting rich on the interest while laughing at people asking for stuff.
There's a long chain of deliveries, and that increases the famous "fuck up" chance for each step that doesn't reach your door (Chinese factory - chinese delivery - international shipping - american delivery - people recieveing).
During the whole process they've constantly been pointing out the estimate delay, and what date people should get their stuff as an earliest estimate. They've also stated that those with "complicated orders" (in which we should assume that everyone not going for just Vampire level and Sophie) will be taken care of in the order of complication.
They also said this earlier with the KS. So I'm not understanding your point.
You had all information, decided to have a go with it, and still complain about it? Say what?
It's like buying luke warm chicken from a random street vendor in the slums of Rio, and then complain that you got sick afterwards.

well, so you are saying that the deadline they put on march was obviously false? Wow. That changes perspective.
Probably because i'm only 23 (no offense taken ^^), but i'm the only one here that doesn't find normal that lies are normal in this kind of business?
Is it that strange to expect what offered from a deal? A random street vendor in Rio is known to be a man not to trust, but are you saying that it is the same for Reaper and anyone else on kickstarter? Wow.
I'm perfectly aware of the risks of enterprises, the thousand of "fuck up" variables and everything, but i'm also aware that it is part of the business.
Reaper actually didn't earn much money from this project, they invested all them in the moulds and production, but this is unrelated with the delays, i quite know that.
or are you saying that the delays are justified because it was a good deal for us?
Seriously, i'm not sure i'm getting your point.
-
They said that they would commence shipping in March. Not that all, almost, 18,000 backers should recieve a package in their post box the same day, or date.
Have they dug themselves a whole with this vendour, having totally miscalculated how popular this product actually would be? Yes. Can they be blamed for being naive? Yes. Can they be blamed for being dishonest with their communication? No.
My previous point was a bit unclear, I blame it on being a wee bit tipsy, but due to the fact that Reaper is a company run by hobbyist, it's a bit of a rocky road. Had they've been a large corporation, I'd be calling for the scalps on the first of April.

ok, in this case we quite agree: they are a little oversized, and they grew even more, and that was a mistake, even though not the worst ever seen.
As i said previously, i'm more upset for the hordes of people defending them saying "poor guys" than for what they actually did.
That said, i would have appreciated to be more notified about those containers. They knew about the last one delay one month ago, and revealed the news just now. That is not terrible, again, but not good either =)
anyway. i'll be DEADLY happy with my bunch of white goodies ;)

Which lies? As has been pointed out, they said that they would START shipping in March, and they did just that.
Truly, I don't see the lies you are talking about.

ending on july? If it's not a lie, it's an omission. Not a big difference, afterall ^^"
anyway, i'm not accusing anyone of anything that bad. Just a simple complain =)

Maybe it is a difference of language, or culture, but to me, there definitely is a big difference between telling a lie, and making a mistake.
You said earlier in the thread (to summarize), "Something like the pledge manager is simple to make; it should not take so long".
Several people have responded, "No, you are wrong. There are many factors involved, and you do not seem to have the experience to know this yet." Notice that no one said, "No, it does take that long, and so you are a liar."
Those things are not the same.

Ahaha, good point ;)
But it's not me the one who had to do the pledge manager. If i was, and if i said something like this, and if i failed in my goal, i could be called liar. ;)
Seriously, i really don't see why there's such a will to oppose to my criticism. They did a promise and they didn't keep it completely. That is a fact, and everyone can react as it please, but negating it and make me look like the angry mob is quite out of the rail, don't you think? We're all gentleman here, so please keep it unpersonal.
-
Alright, this "lying" bit has gone of the rails a bit. Eric, Italians have a small tendency to be rather elaborate with the word. As you and me might get a bit offended by the accusation, for them (and many mediterranians countries) it's not a strong word.
SanAhaha, good point ;)

No, you would be called a fool, a person who failed in his obligations and much more. But not a liar. A liar would know that the information is wrong, but gladly spreads the word anyway.
You get my point?
-
The delay suits me, to be honest. My Sedition Wars figures have been sitting assembled and primed since the start of the year, while I concentrated on other projects (OK, Kickstarters). This gives me a chance to spend a month or two finishing them and get my lead pile down below 50 figures before a tidal wave of Reaper minis hits :)
Then I'll have the best part of six months to deal with Reaper minis before Deadzone...
Does having an unpainted lead pile of less than 50 minis count as "living dangerously"? ;)
-

yep, sorry if there has been a misunderstanding about. Lie to me means saying something that is false knowing that, nothing more. ^_^

mmm, yep, i really understand this. So the only thing that makes them liars (IMHO, of course) is the fact that when they knew about the delay in the containers, they didn't tell us until the last container has shipped. Again, not terrible.
The delay suits me, to be honest.
Me too, actually. I've so much to do in this months. Still, that's a bit irritating ;)
-
Guys, just be happy to get the stuff. This "lying" - discussion seems all things considered rather pointless. I can understand if people are unhappy about delays. And obviously the word "lie" has a different connotation in different cultures so let's leave it at that.
I've pledged for the otherworld dungeon party, which was due in January or February and today it's the end of May. In fact I'm desperately waiting for the stuff because I'm working on yet another project and wanted to use these miniatures in it. I am a bit miffed but then again I think how fast would I actually be? Probably a lot more unorganized. So actually I'm just happy to hopefully get them this summer.
-
it might be interesting to see the diffusion of the kickstarter projects over time: after the boom will come the "delusion", where people will understand that 1/2 year of waiting is rather normal with that kind of offers. :)

I pledged at a low amount for this and mine arrived a couple of months ago, only because I got the pack of the barbarian, monk, Druid and ranger. They are very cool though. You'll be happy with the, definitely.

Propably, but at the moment we still have a Kickstarter Bubble that strongly reminds me of the Dotcom Bubble 10 years ago. Future KS-Projcts will suffer in reputation because of the the ill-planned funding projects we see now. Nothing that bothers me,.... all this "Buy now or never again!" "Only available for funders!" mentality belong to a retail system I never liked anyways.

I was thinking the same thing... People with no actual skills in logistics, management, accounting or the manufacturing chain are letting people down left and right with the quoted times and even going so far as to kick start another project before shipment was completed on the last one! I think the site is an amazing idea but is being miss used and abused often.
-
... even going so far as to kick start another project before shipment was completed on the last one!
I think this is the biggest dislike I have for KS campaigns by some companies. If you haven't finished delivering product for a previous campaign it's sort of bad form (in my opinion) to be running another one.
I do hope to see my vampire pledge stuff show up soon!
-
I like the mantic stuff but they are on tot the third kickstarter and haven't finished the first yet. More people have received the second ks than the first!
-
Any Australians received their boxes yet?
Not getting anxious, just curious.
-
As a kiwi, I haven't but things are apparently starting to move again now. Not sure what I'm going to do with all the minis, I may have to sell off my nethyrmaul for lack of space.
-
As a kiwi, I haven't but things are apparently starting to move again now.
The last update said that the containers from China had now arrived and they were working almost round the clock to catch up, so I'm thinking they'll be sent out over the next month or so.
-
Cheers guys, i haven't been keeping up with the updates. i guess mine will be delayed a bit anyway as i couldn't resist the "Mind your Manors" +$10 option. Can't wait to see all the kitbashing that goes on when they finally do arrive.
-

I understand that frustration, but at the same time it's pretty rare that everyone on a team works on every stage of producing a mini. You have artists which do their work, then sculptors do theirs, then the casters make them up, and people box them up and ship them out. Once the sculptors and artists are done with their part, there is no reason to wait around before getting started on something new while the rest of the production chain is busy, especially if actual production is being subbed out to another company. If you wait till you get everything drawn, sculpted, cast, boxed and shipped out then you'll have a lot of people with a lot of dead time and a longer period between a new release hitting your door.
-
Which applies to every company that doesn't have a KS as well!
For me the issue is where the money is going. Is the subsequent KS required to fund fulfillment of the first b/c funds have been mis-used? (Sorta like the kid who goes to college and blows his student loan on a new stereo...)
-

This is certainly known from other kick starters outside the war gaming industry, so I think it's inevitable at some point within the war gaming industry. Just got to hope that it doesn't end up being the kickstarter/ company you've backed.
-
I got my email confirming my address for delivery :)
-
Got one too yesterday! :D

Me too! :)

aaaaaaaaaaawwwwww! >>>_<<< such a pain!

Me as well. How I got lumped in with all those 'furriners' though, I am not sure... ;D
-
Sounds like everyone received the same email :)
Looking forward to seeing this Kickstarter fully delivered and done with. It will take the edge off all the others I'm waiting on :)
-
:D
-
Sounds like everyone received the same email :)
everyone.. but me. :(
-
Not totally OT, i think i should share it even here:
that great fellow is preparing (converting mostly) the stats for EACH miniature of the Vampire set, and some others... it definitely deserves our support on commenting and waving!
http://savagereaperbones.blogspot.it/
i'll be definitely use those stats for my games!
-
I got my address confirmation email yesterday as well. I'm hopeful that I'll have my minis in time to enjoy them before we head out on vacation, but if not, it's not like I don't have a ton of other unpainted minis to keep them company.
-
They have updated their website and said they started delivering.
-
I got my confirmation email the other day as well. Can't WAIT to see this massive collection of new stuff. Now where am I gonna put them...?
-
Actually, this confirmation mail is more a check than a shipping report. I assume that everyone has received it in a spread of few days, they're just making sure that the shipping will reach the right place.
A little more waiting.
-
Indeed, i got i as well and didn't yet see it as a shipping notice. I guess they will wait a few day to a week to see if they need to make any changes in adresses. In the meanwhile they are probably already packaging everything... If it arrives around the same time as my Kings of war stuff and my last mega miniatures hobby I'm not sure how the missus will react though o_o
-
Me too. Kings of war and bones arriving, totalling about 300 miniatures into the house. I think they may take up my side of the bed while I'm in the dog box.
-
Bones Kickstarter on its way!
Hi there! We're shipping out your Kickstarter stuff!
You're getting:
...
Your shipment was postmarked on 06-21-2013 and is being shipped UPS Standard....
Just an excerpt from an email that just arrived in my inbox this afternoon... huzzah!
Now, I am a little worried that its being sent via UPS, as they tend to charge you through the nose for brokerage. Would have been nice to know that in advance, but we shall see on that part. At least my stuff is on its way!
-

:-[
I believe that was actually meant to be for me! lol
Lucky you. Hopefully mine will be soon. I don't imagine they will be working over the weekend.
-
They sure are getting through a lot each day they should be all posted in about a month I reckon even taking into account some of them are large orders. Some people have spent a huge amount on this though, 10 vampires!!! :o I wish I had that money to spend, hopefully that is a retailer.
-

Thanks. I am intending to do all the Bones, kickstarter or otherwise. Kickstarter wise I'm 3/4 of the way through with about 75 to go. Rest of Bones 10 down[Since the Skeletons and zombies are in both categories] 20 or so to go.
-
Well on average they are shipping about 700 orders per day with just over 11,000 orders remaining so we shouldnt have to wait more than 2 weeks approx unless you are right at the end.
-
Got my official shipping notice about 5 hours after I was notified by UPS that a package was coming. Someone was working way late! So if all goes well, on Tuesday I will have lots of lovely loot to look through instead of doing whatever I'm supposed to be doing.
-
I'm having some doubts now: they said that they dispatched all the orders below 13 lines, or not?
-
I'm having some doubts now: they said that they dispatched all the orders below 13 lines, or not?
Did they? I never got that message in my mailbox and I'm still waiting as well. To me it looks a lot like they are first doing the US and Canada customers, as I haven't seen any shipping destination outside those. Well they are going quite fast through the pile and I my order is quite big because it's a three man set, so I'll be way down the line :p
-
If anyone wants to know what is going on with the shipping and has questions, go here

-
I think international is going to be the last being shipped, which is kind of good for me as there have been issues with some of the minis have wrong legs etc. a little annoying as I only have 4 line items though and my miniatures haven't had any problems with other people.
-
So a box has arrived in Houston for me.
For My Nephews
Vampire Pack
Clockwork Dragon
Kaladrax Reborn
There be Dragons
Starter Paint Set
Starter Paint Set 2
For Me
Vampire
Clockwork Dragon
Spider Centaurs
Kaladrax Reborn
Frost Wyrm
Jabberwock
Hydra
Deep Dwellers
Now I have to wait. For my sister to return home from the UK to send on my half.
To do: 26 Kickstarter Stat blocks and about a dozen for the pre exisiting bones.
-
Got mine today. Lots and lots of minis in the vampire set, 2 paint sets, a bunch of add-ons...
Tomorrow I'll do a proper sort through, but it was nice to look at them quickly this evening.
-
Got my shipping notice today and I've got somewhere between 28 and 32 line items depending on how they are figuring it.
-

Yes you are correct, there is some problem with UPS or somesuch so the Rest of the World (outside US) will have to wait until the end of the line. 5283 orders remaining to be shipped as I write this, they seem to be averaging 700 per day now so 7 working days to go assuming nothing goes wrong :P
Hopefully next Friday I will have an email.
-
Received my shipping notice. What was I thinking? Probably like most people I was thinking 'too good to pass up' when I was really only after about ten specific figures ;)
-
I just got my shipping number! I apparently had more restraint on the extras than I thought. Yay me.
Hope it'll show up quickly. :)
-
I got mine monday evening. (In Texas).
I got one of each add on that was a bone, a vampire, and sold Sophie back.
Kaladrax is insane. It's basically the size of a small cat skeleton. Yes, it dwarfs Nethyrmaul who is also pretty good sized.
The skeletal giant is also really pretty huge. Wyrmgear the clock work dragon is respectable. Cthulhu is wuite impressive.
My only complaints are that I'm my Fire Giant king is missing his sword and hand, and the Vampire set was missing a rat-swarm piece and a new zombie. Some of the minis are wuigte bent up but most of them seem fixable with hot water baths.
The plastic Nova Corps soldiers and IMEF are quite nice as is Ape X.
-
I resisted the urge to back this because I only wanted a handful of the figures, but I am looking forward to seeing the big boxes of cool stuff that some of my buddies are due in the post over the next few weeks. I cant remember which of the big extras they bought, but I am looking forward to seeing them.
Is there a thread anywhere where people are getting rid of the Kickstarter stuff that they dont want? Surely there must be an awful lot of people with an awful lot of models that they know they wont get around to painting.
Im in the market for the beetle swarms from the Vermin set so if anyone wants to part with any of those then drop me a line please :)
-
My Bones are scheduled to be delivered today sometime. Work is going to DRAG all day I suspect!
-
Still haven't seen any kind of indication that over seas backers have received their stuff - or even received a shipping confirmation. I know I haven't. =(
-
Nope, nothing yet. I must admit I am getting anxious ;D
-
Me either :(
-
It looks like something is happening with internationals now.

Most recent destination Wellard AU. Hoping that means Warradale AU has already been done. :)
-
If I understood correctly, yesterday manily the large packages have been perpared (which should include ours :D) and they will be working on preparing the smaller ones in the next few days with shipping on tuesday/wednesday and shipping mails just after that.
So the wait is almost over! as a side note, zombicide season 2 will also start shipping from next monday, so I'd better make some space in my man cave.
-
Some of you folks might be interested in my little experiment here, so I will repost my Dakka message:
So, my Bones arrived today. Holy crap is that a lot more than I thought it would be. And the size of some of them! Seriously happy with the purchase.
As promised, here is Kaladrax's head with Vallejo Acrylic-Polyurethane Surface Primer on it:
(http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t279/ejdmo/IMG_0433_zps35097cfb.jpg) (http://s162.photobucket.com/user/ejdmo/media/IMG_0433_zps35097cfb.jpg.html)

I used Black, and German Dark Yellow. White seemed pointless, and I cannot find my dark grey anywhere.
I tried each of them first without cleaning, and both beaded up a bit but still covered. I then washed the head with warm soapy water and re-applied. Both went on silky smooth. What you see in the pictures is one coat, undiluted. It is adhering very well. I cannot scrape it off with a fingernail...
I will bust out my airbrush and spray some on later next week, but I cannot imagine the results changing very much.
Hope this helps someone. :)
Off to sort and QC.
~Eric

Received my package yesterday... so many figures...
I'm a little anxious about the bendy-ness (Cthulhu's head, I'm looking at you) and paint adhesion over a few years. We'll see I guess.
-
You still need to seal them after painting. THe paint does go on fine though. I have painted over a dozen bones now with no primer.
Apparently, i haven't found any Bones painting thread here on laf yet... time to fix? :D
-
I have seen shipping destinations in Britain, but still not heard anything about mine :(
It was the Bones minis I painted before the Kickstarter that persuaded me to back it.
The monsters are great models at a fantastic price.
Not seen a human-sized figure yet.
With ya on the kobolds Scurv. I thought they looked really soft when I got them, but they're tiny figures, and they paint up nicely.
Not as amazing as Otherworld's kobolds, but good enough, and you could have an entire warren of Bones for a tenner.
Bendiness not really an issue. I did try to bend them with paint on and the paint did crack a little, but I had to bend the sword by about 90°, and it still didn't crack as much as it would have on metal (and styrene would have snapped by that point). So the moral is - don' try to wreck your minis after you paint them lol
-
I think they're mobing through the vampires now :) Hopefully I'll get it in August. A mere year after backing ;)
-
anyway: is it just an impression or they're slowing down in the last 3 thousand?
-
There is a ton more paperwork on international shipping. I would expect them to slow down.
-
Who's the LAFer in Hamburg that just got a shipment? ;)
-
There is a ton more paperwork on international shipping. I would expect them to slow down.
didn't think about that. Uff. =(
I was a little upset about the bad management of this project, but at this point actually there's nothing to complain: they're just shipping. They should have done it around three months ago, but whatever. ^^
-
Ah, just to note: i complained in the last page that no threads about painting reaper bones were around here, but i was wrong!

At least you have a tracking number :P At this rate I am expecting my delivery to be just in time for Christmas.

Just got an order from Reaper, I ordered a bunch of Familiars, some Animal Companions, and a couple Baddies. I got the Bathalian and Giant Spider from Bones. So far I am not a fan of the material. It is bendy soft plastic, similar to that used to make cheap toys. I threw a coat of gray paint on, that I usually use as a primer, and found that it did not take well. I have to say the price is not bad though, $2.49 each, and the detail is decent. I guess you get what you pay for.

Well, i don't expect high level minis. If they costed 2.40$ each i wouldn't have bought them. but for 0,35$ each (including huge pieces) it's interesting. I'll not paint most of them, but even for the few gonna be painted it's a good price.
That said, bendy plastic is OK for me, but i really understand why it is not so liked by most of us. :)

Did you wash it first?
Bones needs to be washed before use.
-
Yeah, I did not go for the Kickstarter, remember I payed $5 for minis I plan on using. I didn't wash the mini I primed, I cleaned it up a little and applied a coat, just like any other mini. I just applied the first coat of color, royal purple, to the outer robes of the Bathalian. The coat went on clean and smooth, no problem at all like the first coat. When I paint the Giant Spider I think I will try the wash to see how it does. I don't think I will be getting any more Bones in the future though.
-
Regardless of Bones, metal, plastic or whatever...you should wash your models with soap and water before you put them together or paint them. There's usually some kind of mould releasing agent on it which can affect paint sticking.
-

I doubt that helps much, it's PVC full of plastic weakeners. You could try car filler primer from your local hardware store. Those are usually based on epoxy resins and thus invulnerable to plastic weakeners.
-
For the Brits: Halfords car primer spray works well on Bones.
-
If its of any help I've attached a picture of the Bones Ogre I've painted. Its only the second plastic miniature I've ever painted so it was certainly a new experience.
Yes they are bendy, but my mix of old citadel paints and Reaper MS paints stuck to it with no problem. Took varnish with no problem either.
The mould lines are apaint to clean up, and the plastic is fairly soft. Certainly not a hard rigid one.
However all that said, I've sold loads of these and not had one complaint. The material works best with the bigger miniatures but it also reproduces small thin sections very well. They're just more bendy.
I'll have the whole range available to pre-order from the 22nd July, so if you want to pick a few up please feel free. I also have most of the first 30 releases in stock now. The purple worm and werewolf seem to be the favourites at the moment.

Maybe, but there have been quite a few reports of people getting much better results post-wash. Really, all figs should be washed before painting, but I assume that most folks are like me and don't bother.
There have been enough reports though that I'll definitely be washing these.
-
Me too. I'll be filling a bucket with Luke warm soapy water (ill test one first to make sure its not too warm) and doing it in a couple of great big lots.
-
I just got my shipping notification. It should be delivered by close of play tomorrow. :D
-
I just got a shipping confimation from reaper :)
No ETA though, but thing again seem to be proceeding.
It was a combined order for me and some friends, 2 vampires + 37 extras, so I'm looking for a pretty big box o_o
-
Shipping notification just received here ... good times!
-
My package was listed as out for delivery this morning... hopefully it will be waiting for me when I get home tonight!
-
Shipping notification just received here ... good times!
The counter is down. If that means that they've finished the shipping, I'm a bit worried, since I haven't recieved a notification for my Vampire level and some extras.
-
Me neither. Not to worry though.
-
They've apparently taken the counter down due to various reasons. Last look said that it was about 2000 orders left, and since they're shifting about 1000 orders a day, we should get notices soon :)
-
Got mine today :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
Sorry I mean ours.............. chairface it's heeeere
-
Just got shipping notification :)
-
Aaargh. I will wait.... sob.
-
It's here!
Now I have an intimidating box sitting in the dining room staring back at me threatening to be added to the lead pile.
-
I got some with a mate of mine (Vampire plus lots of extras) and he has just recently received shipping confirmation, so they are even filtering down here to OZ.
Cheers!
Joe Thomlinson
-
Another happy Australian here. Received shipping notification this morning. Christmas in July!
-
Well. After another failed climax, the countdown is now almost freezed again.
And what bothers me more is that people are still defending them. Nobody forced them to do this business, and after almost one year from the payment (and four months from the official deadline) some of us are still waiting.
I really don't get where i'm mistaken: they gave a really bad estimate of the time, they did not give communications, and still everyone is acclaiming them. Well, i'll be surely happy with the final product, but this whole deal is quite a pain!
Frankly, i think that they lost quite some customers with all this. Probably they gathered more, but that's not the good way of work.
-
I don't understand why people take any notice of the deadlines in these Kickstarters.
Every one I've been involved with has been a long wait.
If I pledge on a Kickstarter, I must admit to paying no attention whatsoever to deadlines as they always over run. I just relax in the knowledge that they'll turn up eventually and I have so much in my lead-pile that it will keep me busy while I wait.
It isn't as if anyone has died or anything ;)
I have three pledges on the go and they have all been funded. I don't expect much before the end of August and some beyond Christmas.
-
If I pledge on a Kickstarter, I must admit to paying no attention whatsoever to deadlines as they always over run.
Well, I admit it's a good philosophy, and you're free to adopt it.
But that's not universal. When a big company starts a kickstarter and give deadlines, all the business is based on the company's authority. They are professionists, and people expected them to act like those. They offered a splendid deal, but also they offered their own "good name".
and, IMHO, they quite lost it.
That said, i've soooo many things to do that i'm not really bothered by that delay. I'm much more touched by the horde of people that feel right defending them.
-
I don't understand that people talk about deadlines at all, since these are not mentioned on kickstarter. The only date given is an estimated delivery date. This is an estimate since outsied influences can have an effect on it. There could have been a more communication from reaper, but I never felt that I wasn't updated enough. Then again, I've participated in quite a few kickstarters and the more succesfull they are, the bigger the chance that the eta shifts a few months. Nothing to worry about imho.
-
I just want my stuff.
-

got your point. But consider that the "estimated" date influences the sales: if i tell you "you're probably gonna have those pieces in 3 months" i will have much more sales than "in 6 months".
I know that most of the kickstarters will finish with a few months of delay... and for that reason i would find more "intellectually honest" saying a more realistic date! not the worst case, but not even the best =)

Here we go again... lol
You are obviously bothered by the delay. In fact, I daresay you are completely hung up on it when it comes to this Kickstarter. People defend them because crap happens. Even to "professionals". And some of us are as bothered by the continual attacks as you are by the defense. Weird, huh? I didn't chime in until you felt the need to call them liars for missing and ESTIMATED SHIP DATE. We had a bit of a culture/language issue on that one though, I think. Or, maybe not:
got your point. But consider that the "estimated" date influences the sales: if i tell you "you're probably gonna have those pieces in 3 months" i will have much more sales than "in 6 months".

still:
Now who is being "intellectually honest"? I doubt it is you. I don't recall ever seeing anyone, ever, say they backed the KS because they would have their minis quickly. Some said that the estimated ship date fit nice for them and their hobby plans, but never anyone who said the only reason they backed was the ship date. Everyone backed because Reaper was offering a shedload of miniatures for a ridiculously low price.
I know you are frustrated by the delay, and I understand that. I was too. I didn't, however, feel the need to attack everyone at Reaper and anyone who defended them. Full disclosure: I have mine now, and am extremely happy with them. See a few pages back for a paint/primer test.
No one with even a little experience with manufacturing (or Kickstarters, for that matter) expected this to ship at exactly the estimated date with absolutely no issues anywhere in the entire, complicated, process. THAT is unrealistic.
I see this on your blog:
I’ve a so-dead-deadline with Resina Planet...
Does that mean there is some sort of delay in the project you are working on with them?

Edit: Removed the bad words. Thought there was a filter, my bad.

I've read only half of your post, and apparently you can't keep offensive sentences out of this forum. I think you should consider that the tones here on LAF are usually different.
You are just... inappropriate.

What, exactly, did you find offensive? A couple of the words that I used? Those have been edited out (and sorry, I honestly thought there was a filter here that would take care of them).
I encourage you to read it all and discuss.

actually, i didn't even noticed the bad words. And that's definitely not the reason why i found (and i still find) that post offensive.
Besides, i don't want to start a polemic about the netiquette in LAF. I'm quite used to defend (strongly , sometimes) my opinions here, but... with other tones.
beside of that, i get your point, even if not well-expressed, and i agree: nobody expected that date and it's normal that the order was delayed.
my point is: i think that "normal" doesn't always mean "fair". People says that it is, i don't. That's all.
I would like to conclude the discussion now, if it's ok for you. Nobody (neither us) wants a flame here ^_^
(for the resinaplanets issue: I've been chatting almost everyday with Oscar, he is now managing an indiegogo campaign and commissioned me other works, so i'm now freezed with that one! And i really suggest all the people to take a look to what he offers... spanish sculptors are just awesome.

I think the issue for most is that 75%+ have received their's while others are left waiting without any word on how long it will be.

So, there is some sort of delay. A delay that probably neither of you foresaw. Surely you see some parallels there?
As to the Reaper discussion: I will dutifully refrain from responding to your posts here, no problem. Never intended to start a flame war (nor do I think there was going to be one, but that is neither here nor there). I do stick to my statements, though I am sorry you find them offensive in some way.

Agreed. It is an issue. I have seen at least one person from Australia post that their package has been received, so ROW is shipping. I think the problem is the USPS being slow picking up again, but I haven't seen any official word on it, though.

I can remember the old days, when stuff took weeks or months to ship from America, and I guess most gamers have come across projects that were delayed endlessly. The longest for me was waiting for my copy of the Aliens RPG, which took years to finally be published.
Reaper have been hugely ambitious, and they've kept us posted on developments throughout the production and shipping process. So far I have no complaints, although the final test will be the quality of the minis.
-
I just want my stuff.
As do I!
and hey, if they are shipping it surface mail which I suspect they are.... its going to be EXACTLY like the olden days because ships dont go perceptibly faster now than they did then.
A few months ago some LAF'er on here told us how surface mail worked. They WAIT until a shipping container is full up with stuff going to that country and THEN they ship it.
That is indeed how it goes. However Reaper is not sending the boxes out via surface mail.... My package went in less then a week from the US to Custome in the Netherlands and is now in customs limbo where it will be decided how much extra I'll have to pay for my toys.

The containers occasionally work loose and fall of the ships as well :o

Yeah, it (Vampire pack plus Mind Your Manors add-on) only took 6 days to get here to Australia. No duty payable either.
I am shocked at how well the plastic holds the detail.
-
I live for the day everyone in general & our own, long suffering Sangennaru in particular receive their Bones Bonanza. Then perhaps, Reaper will get back to issuing monthly additions of the various lines; AND I won't be greeted with a photo of their Warehouse when I access their site.

Probably the package will show up tomorrow when I'm gone for the weekend. Or should I say hopefully, since I'll have the first of my wisdom teeth removed on monday and can probably use something nice to look at :D

judging from some of the comments on the kickstarter site if you have enough figures and they send 2 boxes UK tax is happily charging you for tax on $100 + £8 handling twice :(
I will not be happy if that happens as that will be over £50 in tax and handling on a basic vampire plus a few extras.
-

Oh dear. I hope that they manage to fit my single pledge into one box then. From experience, I know that the customs are rather unflexible when it comes to the tariffs...

Dutch customs apparently has no clue what to do with the package either, since I got a letter that they have a package of which they can't estimate the value so I need to send an invoice to them stating the value (luckily a digitial/internet invoice is accepted as well) so I'll contact reaper and see if they can send me the $100 invoice that a vapire pledge would have :)
-
Last night (at least for me ;)) I got an email from kit with a nice pdf invoice with a value of $100.
I'm going to send it out shortly and with some luck will receive the package either at the end of the week or start of next week.
-
My package arrived yesterday. The tracking number proved useless (I'm in Canada). Other than saying "Ready for UPS" for a few weeks, it never changed. However, the box arrived and everything was inside as ordered. It took me a few hours to open all the plastic baggies and sort things out. I picked a few pieces to get started with. :)
-
Got my on Saturday - Vampire + Red Dragon + Hydra - £20.77 to pay in duty (including £8 handling charge)
Mike
-
Bah, not a peep since I got the delivery address verification message...
-
Arrived, with a customs charge of £18.93.
Fantastic stuff. Really pleased I got into this one.
-
Oh dear, I'll be slapped toothless with the charges then :(
-
If anyone wants to sell me a jabberwocky to help defray these customs stings PM me. Lets face it people are you ever going to get around to painting the freakin Jabberwock with all the rest of the stuff in your new white plastic mountain?
That's one of the models I may actually paint up lol
-

Same here. When they added that one to to add-ons I knew I had to have one for painting.

Mine Vampire pledge box arrived yesterday ... they are nice, but I really wish I hadn't got them now, I'll never paint them or probably even use them.
-
Received mine earlier this week (Canada, no customs charges). It's a daunting box of unpainted miniatures for sure.
Lot's of boiling water fixes needed however...swords/staves/spears on lots of models and slim ankles leaduing to insane leaning on a bunch. This doesn't surprise me but does up the prep time.
-
I fixed all the mummies, zombies and skeletons in about 5 minutes. Two cereal bowls full of water. Throw one in the microwave for two minutes. Put three or four ice cubes in the other while the microwave runs. Dump all the figures in the hot water a few at a time. Use tweezers or pliers to take them out and overbend anything that needs a little extra tweak as you hold it in the cold water.
These will be some of my first test models. I'm really hoping that the 'no need to prime' is true.
-
A little problem here: I didn't receive any shipping confirmation yet, but in a few days from now i'm gonna live my town for a while (summer holidays)... I usually don't order anything in July, but this enormous delay wasn't expected!
Do you guys have the same problem? any solution?

Yep have the same problem. Hoping to solve it when the shipping confirmation comes. Change the shipping address or something. Or I just hope it arrives in September lol. Will act when the problem is nay.

Has anyone made any experience with those translucent ghost/fire types? That's one of the fews I'm interested in, but I'm not shure how they will turn out after dipshading(homebrownot the oil one)/drybrushing.
-
I ran a quick wash over them, and got a lot of beading. So after cleaning them, I've basecoated them with Testor's Dullcoat (gives a very slight frosting) and will try again, possibly with flow improver/more matte medium in the mix. Then I can paint or drybrush on them as nomal.
I'll... keep you informed as to progress!

Painting Reaper Bones Figures;
I’ve painted some of these figures when they first became available and didn’t have any particular problem. I’ve washed them in warm soapy water, boiled some part to straighten them and primed them with a cheap white primer (from Canadian Tire - for those other Canucks reading this). It all goes well…
Since then, I’ve received my Kickstarter figures and try to paint some of these as well. This is where the problems started. I’ve tried priming them with the following primer/spray paints:
The aforementioned cheap white primer, Krylon Black Dual Paint Primer, Krylon Ruby-Brown Primer and Krylon Red Fusion for Plastic. The figures I’ve spayed all ended up being tacky (at different levels, the Red Fusion for plastic being the worst) even when they "rested" for a few days. The painting went well but in some areas the paint cracked…
I’ve since tried to paint directly on the washed figures, without any primer, and, so far, it seems to be the better option.

Try car filler primer on an epoxy-resin basis. You can get it from a hardware store. It's immune to plastic weakeners.

You could contact them with your new address? I guess it depends on how long you are staying there and whether its convenient. If your tax and post office handling charges are anything like the UK then the PO wont deliver the parcel anyway until you pay the handling charge.
I am still waiting for my notification as well, at this rate we will be able to buy them in the shops :P

What brand(s) of paints have you used?
For the first Bones mini I painted (before the KS), I used GW Foundation paints for the base colors, and they worked wonderfully, but they're sadly OOP. Now I've tried a bunch of others with poor results. Some of them bead up, but even the ones that start ok rub off too easily later. :(

-
I forgot to mention that I didn't get burned that badly with additional taxes. After sending out an invoice from reaper to customs, I only had to pay around 30 euro for double vampire + 36 add-ons. Not that bad. It even came in just one box and so far (my friend still has to open his vampire box) I found only one missing part. (a shield on one of the Big Bad Evil Guys).
As for painting, so far I've mainly used the reaper paints that I ordered together with the models and they go on nicely. possibly I'll try out some primers in the next week, not sure yet about this. I also hope that the models don't get tacky if I varnish them, as did some of my zombicide miniatures. :(
-
What brand(s) of paints have you used?
I've used Tamiya (usualy a 50/50 mix with a matching Vallejo color), Vallejo (on their own) and some Coat d'Arms and Reapers paint too.
-
To avoid any potential interactions between solvent and the Bones plastic, I went with acyrlic Gesso as a primer, Vallejo paints and an acyrlic flat clearcoat (Pebeo brand, I think). No problems with that combination.
-
I hope this isn't an ill omen for those unfortunates who have yet to receive their Kick Starter Orders, but Reaper's Online shop now seems to have the whole range of Bones up:
http://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/Bones
For a lot of them I'd still plunk down the extra $s for a metal mini, but the prices are good.
-
Aren't those the old Bones models which are in the store for quite some time now?
-
Aren't those the old Bones models which are in the store for quite some time now?
You're right. There was a thread announcing the release of all the Bones. When I checked there were 221 minis available over a number of pages. Now, however, the old list is back. I wonder what's up with them...it's such a G.W. turn of events.
-
Still waiting.... :'(
-

Our mistake. Those were supposed to be delayed until the 26th and the store data wasn't updated. Fixed the release date and we're working on the ROW now.

Still waiting.... :'(
Me too. But I guess they'll arrive somewhere around christmas ;)

I finally received my email late today so they are on the way at least, I will keep you updated how long they take to arrive.

lol
+1... Sadly.
-
For those still waiting.
My mate's order of a Vampire set and lots of extras (incl some for me) arrived in OZ a couple of weeks ago, so given we are as far away as you can get from most places, they should be along soon you would think ...
Cheers!

-
Well, in theory perhaps. But very few of the Scandinavians have recieved their packs, and I believe that there's a lot of orders that's meant for us.
On the other hand, I'm not crying my eyes out for every day there's no mail. I just pity reaper for dropping the ball on this.
-
Reaper Bryan sent a message saying they expect to be done by this weekend or over the weekend.

Found the comment too,

As of now its the 3rd comment down. 3rd comment on August 20th of five comments.

Received my Vampire plus extras yesterday up in the wilds of Soviet Canuckistan. A nice big box all tied up with string. Well, shipping straps actually. Haven't sorted through it all but it appears to all be there. Somehow I managed to not order the Driders (and I've been waiting all this time in anticipation of them!) Doh! How that confusion came about I'll not know...I'm off to the local Brick-and-mortar place today to fix the oversight. :)
-
Got the confirmation today !

Got the confirmation today !
Ditto, and really looking forwards to them landing here now.
-
None here.
-
Damn, I got the recepit now. Arse! I was really hoping for a delay between tomorrow abd forever so I could whine about it :(

Seems like Scandinavia is up... I got my notification too.
-
Me too.
-
Woho, Scandinavia! We were probably last due to our public health care :( An ulcer is more expensive abroad. Herr's a toast for Reaper, thinking about their customers health!
-
I'm still waiting.
I don't think Karma is working for me. I set up this thread, help Reaper get a few more bucks (probably), mine will be one of the last to go. lol A couple of days won't really matter though :)
I bet if I check my emails now it will be in there.

according to some Bloke who talked to the Reaper Staff at Gencon, they're already planing the next Bones KS for this Fall,oh well ::)

Thats Fall 2013, right? If its a sci-fi heavy theme this time then Im all over that. Are there any other info bits or rumours about that knocking around?
-
I've no Idea,Quote from a PMT Member:
They are definitely doing another Bones kickstarter. I was at GenCon and they had signage up about it. Looks to be launching this fall.
and another one:
I think it's a re-release of CAV. So I don't expect it to do as well as fantasy did. Might include Chronoscape as well. I've heard both.
-
Thanks for that info Dr F.
I think it's a re-release of CAV. So I don't expect it to do as well as fantasy did. Might include Chronoscape as well. I've heard both.
CAV is a Battletech sort of thing isnt it? If Reaper move away from 28-30mm for the next one then it wont do as well for sure. If they go in a full on Chronoscope and/or 28mm sci-fi direction then they will make another fortune Id say. Imagine the sci-fi equivalents of Cthulhu and Jabberwock in Bones? Presumably there are people itching to get huge, cheap robots or aliens in that scale. I certainly am.
-
Yep, cav is like battle tech.
My delivery notification arrived today. :D
Not sure if I'd jump in on a sci fi one. Probably

AAAAAARRRRRRGGGGGGHHHH! This means another 40+page thread of PURE ANGST!
-
Well I have been watching my parcel move around the US for the past 5 days, it will be nice when it takes off across the pond :P
-
Mine is at the customs >:( >:(
I hate to order from the US!
-

It seems to want to stay in Chicago for a while doesn't it. I think mine is either on a plane now or arrived in New Zealand.
-
Mine arrived arrived this morning - customs free! Yeah!!! So now the long process of unpacking them, and straightening them out.
-
I'll have to be honest if the next one is CAV and its anywhere near decent I just might end up springing for that one. Since I started 15mm sci-fi my urge to paint smaller scale mecha has grown by the day.

I find the notion of releasing CAV stuff a bit unrealistic. Reaper has still got a big backlog of stuff that they want to bone (yes, pun intented, I couldn't help myself).
But, I don't think we can expect such grazillion minis for a buck offer like this one.
-

lol

The only way I'd go on in another campaign would be if it's modern/sci-fi/super-heroes centric. I will never need another fantasy miniature again...
-

Yeah that is odd, 4 days its sat in Chicago "processed through sort facility" so far. Our next D&D game is in 2 weeks and I want to get some painted :P
-
That's funny as mine arrived within a week of receiving the shipping email, and that's from the states to Denmark.
-
There are some minis in the Reaper catalogue that I would like to see in their Bones range. The funny alien from the Mice in Space set for starter and maybe some "Greys" ;D
-

There's something rotten in the state of Denmark!
Sorry Dijit, I couldn't help myself ;)

That is very true. Although some of the bones I didn't pick up are looking at me with pleading eyes!
Just checked my tracking confirmation... Arrived in New Zealand. Should be a couple of days I hope. Please be Friday, I want the weekend with my new plastic not so shiny shinies.
-
There's something rotten in the state of Denmark!
lol

10 days from acceptance in Denton Texas and it has arrived in the UK, been sitting in customs for 2 days it seems but hopefully it should be with me soon... just deliver it and charge me Royal mail damn you.
-
Woo hoo got them, no customs fees, great things.
-
Woo hoo got them, no customs fees, great things.
I wonder what makes the difference with customs fees. Mine got through without customs, whilst I friend has had to pay customs and has to produce a receipt with pricing for the goods. It all seems rather hit and miss.
-
...It all seems rather hit and miss.
Well, that's because it is! :D At least here in DK; then Skat is understaffed in that regards and simply doesn't have the time to go through every parcel arriving from outside of the EU. Thus, they pick stuff, by chance and divination, and look at it to determine how much it needs to be taxed before you recieve it.
... Which is why I never order stuff from outside of the EU; can't really be bothered with all this red tape and extra taxes!
-
I always get busted, so I just assume that I'll have to pay for customs, and haul my ass to the middle of nowhere and pick my pack up. I also assume that it will rain as hell the day I decide to go there...
-
Mine only cost $100 which it said on the outside and I think it may be at about $250 we have to pay customs, otherwise its just not worth their while I think. I'm probably wrong though, probably misheard someone.
-
Administration fees...

You Kiwis really are on the short end of the stick aren't you? 2.5 times the cost of the package in customs and fees :o
-
Got my stuff.... that Kaladrax sure is a beast. I am not really looking forward to painting it, though. Mainly because of the filling inside the ribcage, I am not sure what to do with it. Maybe paint some eldritch blue effects? :? And the tail - needs shortening I think?
I must say I prefer Nethyrmaul even if it's smaller. And the Cthulhu doesn't look as bad with them miniwings as I feared, but I am still tempted to swap the wings for something more substantial...
Eek, some bits are really bendy, almost rubbery stuff, like C:s head. Hope they take paint well?
As for the rest of the stuff in the Vampire pack, there's a LOT of it. What am I going to do with all this? o_o lol
-

No I mean I think if the package costs about $250 we then get charged 15% or something, I don't know. To be honest I've never had to pay customs charges for anything I have imported.
-

Ok, that's somewhat better.

Yeah me as well, bought 2 things from the US and got stung both time, the first time the royal mail charges were more than the figures cost originally, thankfully even with the £30 extra I am expecting to pay that amount of figures will still be worth it. I can just sell Kaladrax if I cant be bothered to paint him :P
-
Well, my box got here. Customs was 31€. The big ones are really cool and well worth it.
The "vampire" set was, well, a bit of a letdown in my opinion. I don't find detail is all that good on the material, at least on the human sized, lot of them seem squashed and facial detail on human and elf figures is sometimes all but missing, noses are often just the faintest of hints. Monsters are better and the more exagerated the features the better the figures.
Also, going through them, I realized there are few in them I actually have a use for, it's such an ecclectic mix.
Honestly, I don't get why they'd use this material on anything smaller than orcs.
-
I'm happy enough with them but I think I'll buy my human sized and less in metal and get my big monsters in bones to save a bit. Need that pathfinder dragon.

Same here, I have a bunch of elf types and the witch model with no noses at all, and the orcs look like thier tongues have expanded up and swallowed thier teeth.
The small gribbly familiar types actually look pretty good but in general as you said it's such a random assortment and the detail is not as good as I had hoped, still they were cheap.... lol
-
Honestly, I don't get why they'd use this material on anything smaller than orcs.
I have two legendary Encounters (same material but prepainted) Minotaurs here and the Material is quite good for minis that size (still a bit to wobbly for my personal taste, but at this size the prize begins to matter).
I won't buy it for anything other than Giants and big Monsters.
-
I received my parcel last Friday, after paying 34 euros for taxes and re-shipping. >:(
I'm pretty happy with it, although my Cthulhu came with two right wings (need to email Reaper to get a replacement). And sure as hell I don't understand why I didn't add the mythos monsters and the driders. Live and learn!
I created a thread to trade bones back then. I'll contact the (very few) people who expressed interest (must have the PMs stored); and I think I'll start a new and clearer trade thread in the bazaar, for all of us. Let's see if we can optimize our investments. :)

Mine too ! Wonder if there's a massive box of left wings sat in a warehouse !
-
Better check mine then.
-
Finally got mine yesterday, and was up to 10pm opening and sorting them. I don't dare tell my missus that was the highlight of my night lol
As I was one of the last 100 orders posted they included a free undead dragon (nethyr...something?) He is pretty cool, I might make him the centrepiece of my larger-than-skirmish-but-smaller-than-a-real-army undead force.
I have to agree with some of what WK posted, many of the minis I will have no use for (elves and gnomes, I'm looking at you) and the detail on some faces is a bit soft. For some reason I ordered two sets of the deep dwellers when there is only one miniature in that set I wanted anyway.
-

Nice I ordered that undead Dragon anyway, I wonder if they will put something else in :P since i am still waiting for mine.
-
Well, at least I got this shitty message. Now to see how much it will set me back, and the amount of curses I can sum up when picking up the stuff in the middle of nowhere.
Priority Mail International Parcels

Well I just paid my £23.02 charge online and they are being delivered Monday - good job I have next week off to check the contents :P

So that you could trade/sell the tiik warriors to me? ;)
-
Phew. Finally arrived yesterday afternoon, washed them all and sorted through them. No bonus figures :(
I was missing the female nova marine and the dungeon furniture with the skulls on, in the picture has a woman lying on top? If so then i am missing the woman (although possibly they changed it, anyone else confirm or deny?)
I got an extra nova marine duplicate i noticed and the extra female is the one pictured with Kaladrax i assume, apart from the changed to the elves from the artwork posted everything else seems to be present and correct.
Many of the figs will require the hot water treatment to bend them back into shape and the multi part ones will also require this treatment to get them to fit together properly, even then I think that some greenstuff will be needed to fill the gaps but all in all they look good. Some detail loss on the smaller figures but not as bad as I was expecting.
Overall reasonably happy now that they have finally arrived.
-

Mine didn't have the woman either.
I'll have to check the others when I have some more time.
-
No I don't think it was meant to have a woman on top... Sounds funny now that I read it back lol
-
The original of that one (the metal version) does have a female victim on it. She is rather artlessly sprawled on the top with clothes conveniently covering any -- distressing bits. I don't think the bones version is supposed to have the victim, but I didn't really look too carefully when I got mine, since we were leaving for our holiday right when it arrived.
-
Yup, as noted, the metal version has a victim.
The bones version does not come with said victim.
-
Oh the joy, the package finally arrived!
So I went to my lical post office and pucked up the single box that was waiting for me.
At first I thought that it was a bit on the light side. But hey, it's all plastic.
So finally came the morning when I was able to open my box. My add-ons were all there, and I spent some time with my chtlhu wrestling with my daughters barbie.
And then I started to unpack the blisters and discovered that I got shit all, and that they're all duplicates :( Instead of doing a list of stuff I got, it's way quicker to a list of stuff I didn't get...
I think I can complain about this to Reaper...

that's curious, you get the blisters of all you ordered, usually people just get plastic bags with the minis! maybe being one of the lasts your package was treated in a different way! =(
You definitely should complain about that, mate.
-
I will complain when I miss 88% of the miniatures I ordered ;)
I'm just tired of the fact that this will yield yet another customs charge :(
-

might not: the refund of minis has not a proper "market price", and no taxes should be applied to this!
-
That is very weird. Looks like an "undertaker" pledge, i.e. those destined for gaming shops.
And I would expect Reaper to compensate you for the double customs tax charge.
EDIT: Or what Sangennaru said.
-
yeah weird...i received 3 Parcels over a Week with all the Bones Minis in a Plastic Bag,no Blisters, though i got the Stuff very early,End of July, early August ???
-
I just assume that my package is part of a major fuck-up during the last days of packing for pledgers and undertakers.
Just my luck ;)
Anyhow, I've sent them an e-mail and hope to get this issue resolved in some way.
-
They are quite reasonable people; I'm sure it will get worked out quickly.
Disappointing for you, though. And hopefully you'll avoid another customs jab.
-
They are quite fast on reply usually. I had one figure missing from my Vampire pledge and it’s suppose to be on it’s way now… we’ll see 8)
-
That sucked, Skanderino. =( I haven't taken a census on my vampire boxes yet. I don't want to. There's TWO of them ffs! =( What the fuck was I thinking?!
-
I'm still waiting for their reply, Mattilinen. Since they're supposed to be fsirly quick with replies and all that...
-
Not that quick, I'd say. I contacted them one week ago regarding the missing right wing of my Cthulhu and I'm still waiting for the replay.
We'll just have to be patient.
-
I contacted them two weeks ago and haven't received a reply. Only one miniatures and wondering if I could get it out into my next reaper shipment.

No reply yet. Amazing services. Time to be a nagging bastard...
-
I got a reply about a week ago. I was missing one mini, they gave me an online voucher worth twice the minis retail value to cover purchase and postage. I had said just put it into my next order so it should cover that and then some.
-
I don't want a voucher for a purchase for yet another sting at customs. I want my minatures. Which I pledged and payed for.
-

more than reasonable, actually.
-
Bearing in mind I don't really understand all this kickstarter stuff, but my understanding is that they were meant to be a way for a starting business to get off the ground by you buying 'credit', in exactly the same way that a bank would lend money to a business in order to buy 'credit' in the shape of loan repayments with interest.
Aren't Reaper an established business already?
I understand a rookie needing to seek outside investment to get going, but shouldn't a business have enough confidence in its own designs to put its own investment in?
Am I getting this arse backwards?
-
Aren't Reaper an established business already?
they are, but they were going to make a great turn, changing metal to "bonesium". It involved a lot of money for the injection moulds, and the kickstarter was a good way to raise the money.
I'm much more pissed off by people just making kickstarters to increase their ranges of minis, after all.
The point is (the upsetting point) that they acted like rookies: they raised a huge amount of money thanks to their enormous renown, then managing the whole deal with delays and annoying lacks of information.
And, apparently, they insist on not being professional. Luckly enough, i didn't have missing pieces in my packet.
-

I see that as a business decision by the company, that they need to stump up their own money for. I can see the attraction from their perspective - ie. there's minimal financial risk to them because everyone else is paying for it and it is a lot easier to deal with a lot of small investors if something goes wrong, than have to take on a bank.
I'm not saying they're deliberately trying to deceive anyone (I haven't a clue one way or the other), it just seems to me that investment like this in an existing business needs to come from within, which incentivises that company to do their research beforehand, work hard to achieve their aims to the best of their ability and get it right. If they don't, their product won't sell and they won't make back their money. I think in the long run it is better for both parties that they put their own money on the line like this (or borrow from the bank, which amounts to the same thing).
-
Sorry for this error. It seems you received part of a retailer KS rewards. We are very sorry for this error, but keep it...make some $$ on ebay...this is yours to do as you wish.
If I had more energy, I'd ask for the money back and the miniatures as a compensation. Thankfully, and sadly, I haven't inherited my fathers wheeler dealer antics...
-
but they are sending you the vampire box as well, aren't they?
-
but they are sending you the vampire box as well, aren't they?
Yes :)
No silly vouchers.
-
Least you didn't come back off a nice holiday to find a letter from HM Border Agency asking for a full Invoice for the package they have decided to hold. Emailed Reaper...
And got a nice invoice for $460.00 dollars...
So bang goes the normal £ 25.00 customs charge to get it delivered.
Oh well, guess the Treasury are going to start liking us Kickstarter customers.
-
Yes :)
No silly vouchers.
well, in that case they're acting right, cmon! =)
-
I don't want a voucher for a purchase for yet another sting at customs. I want my minatures. Which I pledged and payed for.
I wasn't saying that was what you would get. Just that that is what I got for 1 miniature that was missing from my order. It wouldn't be worth their money time and effort to repackage 1 miniature and pay labour etc for that to be sent out to me. Whereas a big load of missing minis like your it would be much more in their interests to give you the rest of your purchase. I had also made it clear to them that it wasn't a huge deal so they took the risk and gave me the voucher as a sign of goodwill.
Nice to see that they have resolved it nicely for you as well. They do seem to be rather generous with their mistakes. :)
-
Don't worry beef, I didn't misunderstand you. Itcwqs more a concern :)
-
Understandable though, I be pretty pissed off getting what you got after the long wait. I think my voucher will go towards the pathfinder dragon. Gutted I didn't buy that one.
-
Started a new thread for the new bones kickstarter.

I don't want a voucher for a purchase for yet another sting at customs. I want my minatures. Which I pledged and payed for.
I got the same deal and when I visted their website to check the prices, if I purchased the missing figs using the voucher they gave me it would actually cost me more than the voucher due to the P&P cost, not even counting the customs charges (although on a couple of figs I would hope it would be zero rated).
While its only a couple of missing figs we still have a right to expect them since they have been paid for, I asked if they could give me less of a credit with a UK retailer who they deal with, I shall see what they say to that suggestion.
-
Wow I never even thought to look for anything missing....
-
Wow I never even thought to look for anything missing....
Neither would I. But, when there's only 20 out of 270+, it's rather obvious ;)
-
lol
You did get nice packaging though ;)
I just sold off the last of my unwanted. Made the majority of my investment back.
-
It has arrived! Full with soft detailed miniatures and bent stuff... ;)
-
Fair play to them, they replied and gave me more bonus cash to cover the postage :)
