Me too  :D

Not wanting to derail the thread too much but I'll be using Copplestone and Perry naval brigade (close enough for me), these figures and of course Bac Ninh  :)

cheers

I'm surprised no one has mentioned their use in India- both North West and North East frontiers. I guess only those figures wearing Kilmarnocks would be usable but they only a vast range of campaigns- Sikkim 1861, Ambela 1863, Bhutan 1865 & Black Mountain 1867. To include in the what if scenarios- the Japan Expedition of 1864(or even an escalation of hostilities after the bombardment of Kagoshima in 1863)  and the South Arabian Expedition of 1865.

Could the ones in Kilmarnocks double up as Canadian militia for the 1885 Riel Revolt?

I prefer the Shako firing line and standing loading to the Shako marching poses, and those sword bayonets in the command packs look odd but overall I can see me investing large in this range.  Now Mike and Alan I need some Royal Artillery armed with Enfield carbine to represent the Welland Canal Battery - thank you  :D

No, they would not be correct for 1885, but they'd be great for Wellesley's 1870 Red River Expedition to put down Riel's first rebellion.

For me, I'll get them to face down Captain Pickett's US Army unit on San Juan Island during the Pig War (1859 - 1871).

Would the kilmarnock chaps work for Royal Marines? I'm starting to assemble an 1850s 'Sikhs & Sailors (& maybe Scots)' force for assorted semi-fictional mayhem on the far side of the world (first opponent - not-Zanzibar), and the Marines are still a question mark...

The uniforms for most of the 1850s are quite different. The tunics and frockson these figures really date from about 1858, post Crimea, post Mutiny. Royal Marines wore near identical dress to the army, so within the time constraints of the uniforms, yes you can use them for RM.

Well, that's rather thoughtless of them, I say - changing uniforms right in the middle of my period. I'll pencil these chaps in - I'm thinking more late '50s anyhow, and I'm not stupendously keen on the lack of variety in the Foundry packs.
