Rhinox Hide is almost exactly the same colour. I think it may be a touch darker, but I use it where I used to use Scorched Brown with absolutely no visible differences at all.

Could try adding a little orange brown to one of the browns? Not tried it, just a thought...

I've been using the Coat D'Arms Chestnut Brown (219) which seems to me a pretty good match.

Tom, thanks for the suggestion but I really don't like the coverage i get from Coat D'arms paints in general. They are too weak in pigment. :)

That's the one I have and when I compared them the Rhinox hide was a good 'layer' i.e. shade darker than that of Scorched Brown.

Just to update anyone interested in this subject...

Rhinox Hide is not the same. I popped into my local GW today (for the first time in maybe 15 years) and bought a pot.

It's darker than scorched brown, and doesn't have the elusive red hue. Not quite as dark as vallejo charred brown, but closer to that than scorched brown.

So seems scorched brown still remains without an alternative!

However Vallejo Dark Fleshtone to me seems like a very good replacement for Citadel Dark Flesh. It has the elusive red hue, like a lighter scorched brown, so for what I do will be used a lot for blending flesh colours from dark to light.

Agreed. That's what I'll be using when my ever diminishing pot of Dark Flesh runs out.

I did a quick test on a mini and it looked fine.
