Regarding orks, look at Ramshackle for vehicles.

I'm going to go down one of two roads with vehicles. Roads get it. Vehicles-roads. Well It made me titter.

a) I'll use GW. If I do I'll covert them to a certain degree.  I do like the battle wagon but I'll change three things on it. The ram/plough on the front. I do like it and it has a menacing look to it. But everyone more or less has used it. I want a bit of individuality. Change the tracks and wheels. Again going for individuality. Plus the ramshackled tracks are mirrored one each side. And finally doing something about the turret on top. It looks too unbalanced for my liking. Yeah I know it an Ork design but it looks to top heavy
b) kitbash and scratch build.
I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick ass....and I'm all out of bubblegum. No wait I've just found another pack in my back pocket. Mmm tropical fruit bubblicious.

That's part of what I really dislike about the current Ork range, for a race that doesn't do standardized vehicles pretty much every vehicle looks exactly the same, including all the extra plates that are all bolted on at exactly the same place.  ;D For proper Orks kitbashing/scratch building is really the way to go.

I'm going to go down that avenue with the weapons. I believe that if a war boss gets a mek boy to build him a hundred shooters then the first and second one will be similar as the second will be similar to the third. However the hundredth shooter will have nothing in common with the first.

Orks a) don't have the understanding of continuity. and b) don't have or even if they did have a Standard Template Constructor understand how to use it.  If they did have  one  that say made weapons like bolters they'd probably think it was a thingamajig of sorts and turn it into a fortification or the like until the space marines turned up asking politely if the could have it back. Hmm now that's an idea for a scenario.
